  6:08am
Andy in Berlin:

OMG! I only just now thought of a great Italy song! I'm sure it's too late but what about Pepino The Italian Mouse by Lou Monte?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V57hP7Ipjw4
Unless you already thought of it...?
  6:08am
pierre:

  6:09am
Dave B:

@ Pierre - Kraftwerk's "Tour de France" will not redeem you...

:-)
  6:10am
Meghan:

oh andy... I didn't.... grrrrr
  6:10am
Simon:

What about Tour Eiffel?
  6:11am
fred von helsing:

I can't believe I failed to send you that Giant Robot song for the Scando show. ARGH!!!!! Hey what if you had a show of Europe songs *plus* delicious, still-edible leftovers?
  6:11am
pierre:

@ Dave B : i thought about this one obviously, but this was way to obvious… in the meantime i love it.
to be honest i can't wait to hear what songs you chose.
  6:13am
Meghan:

I didn't do any landmarks..... so no Eifel songs....
  6:13am
Dave B:

I sent Meghan my usual care package for her to choose from. However, seeing her at Detention on Monday put in my one request...
  6:13am
fred von helsing:

The other day Trouble played some Clothilde, she's the greatest of all yé-yé. I asked around at a flea market (that giant one in the north of Paris) and the guy said that Clothilde is a very rare item, top shelf
  6:14am
Chuck:

Pass the pecorino cheese please!
  6:15am
Dave B:

with these last 3 songs, all I picture is a red checked table cloth and a cianti bottle candle holder
  6:15am
pierre:

good to know fred !
(but wait… you're french ?!)
  6:15am
fred von helsing:

Anyone else here into Honey Bane? I just discovered her and it's great stuff. She's updated "Violence Grows" for the here and now.
  6:17am
fred von helsing:

  6:20am
Chuck:

Ha! The Stranglers make the cut again!
  6:22am
Meghan:

Chuck, I had 4 of their songs to choose from!
  6:22am
Dave B:

@Fred VH - a good collection from Ace Records. The lead track by Jacqueline Taieb crushes (in my opinion)

http://www.acerecords.co.uk/content.php?page_id=59&release=8591
  6:23am
Simon:

The Stranglers and the Fall seem to have most of the world covered between them...
  6:23am
fred von helsing:

"Violence Grows", updated for London 2011: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l64ogwrKJfY or the newest post at https://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=389879717243 (yeah I'm the group admin, everybody is welcome to join and post stuff !!)
  6:24am
fred von helsing:

Sleater-Kinney! I hope everyone's heard the new Wild Flag
  6:24am
Meghan:

I did get rid of the Fall song for later.... but yes, they fall (no pun intended) into the many world songs group too!
  6:26am
fred von helsing:

@DaveB will check after the show! I hesitate to buy the various yé-yé collections, they tend to have a lot of lamous filler tracks :-(
  6:29am
pierre:

hé Friend Von Helsing ! ;)
  6:30am
Andy in Berlin:

Hope that Rome song doesn't knock The Stranglers out of Spain!
  6:30am
Meghan:

ha! nice volcano sound at the end of that song..... all they needed were people screaming
  6:30am
fred von helsing:

bonne journée, mon nouvel ami :)
  6:31am
Meghan:

awww, it did Andy. : (
  6:31am
Chuck:

Are the sets going to be particularly long due to so few countries, Meghan?
  6:32am
Andy in Berlin:

Cripes! I love that song!
  6:33am
Meghan:

yuppers..... I wanted to give equal time to each country.... and a set just for Europe!
  6:34am
fred von helsing:

VERUCA SALT YEEAARRRGGHHHHHH
  6:35am
Dave B:

@Fred - I find the Ace collections are usually pretty solid.

and AW CRAP - I forgot general Europe songs....
  6:35am
hamburger:

any Velvet Underground for the European set per chance?
  6:35am
Chuck:

Getting from that Sheena Scott track to the Saints in the same set! Skillfully done, Meghan!
  6:35am
fred von helsing:

@DaveB it's not too late! (maybe)
  6:36am
Meghan:

hehe... thanks Chuck! Hamburger.... to answer your question... yes and no....
  6:39am
Dave B:

If I know Meghan - she's good to go....

  6:41am
hamburger:

hmmmmm,,,, intriguing.... or not....
  6:42am
fred von helsing:

Sophia Loren wasn't built in a day either :-P
  6:43am
Dave B:

no love for Andora, huh?
  6:44am
Chuck:

Ah, you could play "The Road" by The Kinks for the tour theme...
  6:44am
Dave B:

hee hee...
  6:44am
fred von helsing:

True, Andorra's head of state must be approved by the President of France and some archbishop in Spain. San Marino tho - where is the love?
  6:45am
hamburger:

Fudge Andora. Fudge All 'Em Andorans! There, I said it... (some of my best friends are Androans - so it's okay)
  6:46am
pierre:

and the president of France isn't a good decision maker.
  6:46am
pierre:

aawww accordeon !
  6:46am
Kevin:

oh fuck yeah screamin' jay
  6:47am
fred von helsing:

I just read a new history of Paris by the author of "the discovery of france", both books are excellent
  6:47am
Kevin:

oh yeah, here's the weird racist part
  6:47am
Dave B:

Wait a sec - are people from Andora refered to as "Andorians"?

http://startrek.com/legacy_media/images/200306/tos-044-thelev-an-andorian-/320x240.jpg

oh... Never mind
  6:48am
the anchovy:

  6:48am
Chuck:

Yes, the same thought came to me, Dave. hehe...
  6:50am
Meghan:

Ciao Anchovy!
  6:53am
pierre:

"Ça Sent Si Bon La France"

hahahahahahahahaha… can't stop laughing, this song is so perfect in its cliché(s)
  6:53am
fred von helsing:

quand j'étais petit je n'étais pas grand... je montrais mon cul à tous les passants...
  6:56am
fred von helsing:

Mlle. DJ did you like the cover songs? Should I post them for everyone ?
  6:58am
Dave B:

Whatcha Got Fred?
  6:58am
Meghan:

I haven't even been able to fully listen yet! But yes, share!
  7:01am
fred von helsing:

workin' on it...
  7:03am
Dave B:

a friend of mine turned me on to Corrine Bailey Rae, with her covering "Since I've Been Loving You"

really good stuff...
  7:05am
Meghan:

grrrrr... fred.... I thought I got your songs on here.... and I didn't! I have the file, but I think my computer crashed when I was dragging them over! EEEP!!!! Damn it! I wanted a song about St. Tropez! Fixing now.... stupid computer....
  7:05am
George UK:

No Artist from No Album?!
  7:05am
pierre:

great song about Monaco here
  7:06am
Dave B:

@George UK - "this is not the song you are looking for"

Marcus will be proud of that Jedi Mind Trick
  7:07am
hamburger:

proof all history lessons should be taught with bongos
  7:08am
pierre:

this Annie Philippe song sound exactly like the end of holidays to me.
  7:08am
fred von helsing:

Yeay! Thanks Megan! I am now officially a WFMU assistant toonz supplier! Can I get a wall plaque from Ken?
  7:09am
Meghan:

  7:09am
Chuck:

What's up with the "Marcus" joke, Dave?
  7:11am
fred von helsing:

OK, I didn't want to steal Mlle. DJ's thunder so I filtered a few out, but here's some fun t00nz: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/367739/Meghan2.zip
Pussycat's "La Plus Fort" is absolutely one of my favoritest songs, it just SWINGS, it's a never-fail when DJ'ing
  7:11am
Dave B:

Check Elwyn's Facebook posts from yesterday

Thanks for this Meghan!
  7:13am
Meghan:

Yeah, your copy was a stupid iTunes version....
  7:15am
Dave B:

crapola... I gotta smarten up my playlists and reconvert stuff....
  7:17am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

No! The Screaming Jay Hawkins is the best one.
  7:18am
pierre:

awww… love the accent Meghan !
  7:21am
fred von helsing:

Montreal French accent is hilarious, it makes everyone there sound totally demented
  7:22am
pierre:

correct, that is a weird accent.
But their french is much richer than ours (french from france)
  7:23am
pierre:

(lunch break - see you in a minute - thinking of buying spanish food)
  7:23am
Mary Lorson:

Loving your show! I look forward to the band touring/road theme next week. I have a song about that, in case you're interested....ML
  7:24am
fred von helsing:

listener poll: should I skip lunch and stick to the show
  7:25am
Chuck:

Depends on how hungry you are, Fred....
  7:25am
hamburger:

dark night of the theme park!
  7:27am
Dave B:

in the early days of HBO there was a Steve Martin special where he mentions that "In order to speak French, you must put a rubber band around your lips"
  7:27am
hamburger:

how about a 3 hour loop of Willie Nelson's - On the road again... that song just has everything....
  7:27am
Meghan:

Thanks Mary! Send it along! That would be great!
  7:27am
Simon:

Fred - you can head out for 5 minutes when Meghan plays Freddie Mercury and Monsterratt Caballe
  7:28am
Parq:

Ah, I'm just in time for the Spain set.
  7:28am
Dave B:

@hamburger - or just slow it down so it spans three hours
  7:29am
Meghan:

ha! Simon that got cut..... just couldn't do it....
  7:30am
fred von helsing:

Mlle. DJ I just posted a call for songs for you on the group Awesome Technicans!
https://www.facebook.com/groups/205137716207635/ but don't be surprised if they're all about duct tape...
  7:30am
Dave B:

@Meghan - only 474 of those stupid iTunes protected files.

Musta been from my early days of building the library. I know what I'll be doing for some of this weekend...
  7:31am
Andy in Berlin:

Here's one for the touring:
I, Ludicrous- We're The Support Band
You'll like the video, it's a take off on Thunderbirds et al
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEBOwHeyYoo
  7:31am
Dave B:

474 of 89,940.... not too bad.
  7:33am
hamburger:

@Dave B: yes. See how much work we've saved Meghan?
  7:33am
jeff p:

why does the woman with the harp on the front page have a huge bra on her head?
  7:33am
Meghan:

hahaha nice Hamburger! I think I have been sent about 200 of those.... hehe
  7:34am
Dirty Old Man:

Lady of Spain I adore you.
Take off your clothes and I'll explore you.
  7:34am
Simon:

What a shame, i'm pretty sure they didn't do a duet about roadies and tour buses so no chance to redeem yourself next week.
  7:34am
fred von helsing:

Groupies - there should be plenty of songs by GTO - that was a silly Zappa side project, I think Pamela des Barres was in the band
  7:36am
mohawkdave!:

Hiya!
  7:36am
Dave B:

@Fred VH - "Crew Slut" by Zappa.

end game.
  7:37am
Meghan:

Morning DOM and Mohawkdave! and Jeff P too!
  7:38am
Dave B:

what SHE said!
(i need more coffee and don't feel like typing)
  7:39am
fred von helsing:

@DaveB pretty damned rude lyrics! Hooray for web-only!
  7:40am
Dave B:

oh yeah!

"it looks just like a telefunken U-47"
  7:41am
jeff p:

I have a tour song for you... and/or a japan song...
  7:41am
Dave B:

Is this Steve Bent song playing at the right speed?
  7:42am
Meghan:

ha it was Dave.....
  7:42am
Chuck:

Coffee is done and yet I feel like I need to go back to sleep. No reflection on the show...
  7:43am
Parq:

Shall we call this the Manchego set?
  7:43am
Andy in Berlin:

(sound of hand slapping head) I totally forgot about:
In A Castle In Spain - Buster Poindexter (from the Disney tribute record)
Spanish Castle Magic - Jimi Hendrix (or the Spin Doctors)
  7:45am
fred von helsing:

A Castle in Spam ? Or do I need new glasses ?
  7:45am
Meghan:

I think I might end up doing a castle theme...... Ha, no Fred, you are just mixing up two Monty Python sketches...

Mmmmmm, Manchego.....
  7:47am
jeff p:

"king of spain" by Moxy Fruvus?
  7:48am
Meghan:

wow, I hadn't thought of Moxy Fruvus since college. There was a guy who lived down the hall from me that loved them.....
  7:48am
Elwyn:

Hey everyone!

Skipped gym tonight!
  7:50am
Meghan:

Hey there Marcus!
  7:50am
Dave B:

MARCUS!
  7:50am
Chuck:

How are you doing, Marcus!
  7:51am
pierre:

Bonjour Marcus (Elwyn)

(no spannish food for me, an indian salad, but i have a Tiramisu for desert so i guess i've a tooth in the theme…)
  7:53am
Chuck:

Portugal is gonna be interesting. Can't think of that many songs about it....
  7:55am
jeff p:

we missed you guys saturday night
  7:55am
Elwyn:

We're in Spain. Shouldn't I be Marcio or something?
  7:55am
fred von helsing:

Faceborg suggests: Motörhead - (We Are) The Road Crew
  7:55am
krebstar:

Hey Megan, I'm a jersey native, living overseas, and my first question to all friends and family (after, "are you OK?) was "how stoopid was the media?".
  7:56am
jeff p:

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN!
  7:56am
Chuck:

Speaking of flooding, Meghan, the Wallkill is still impassable on route 299. At least it was yesterday...
  7:57am
fred von helsing:

oh man I'm glad I don't have a hangover for this song
  7:57am
Jim Devoid:

Meghan, remember that your show goes out well beyond the NYC area - we had major damage less than 30 minutes from our home in the Catskills and a hour or so north in the Adirondacks. Whole towns were wiped out. It would have been worse 'death-wise' if if wasn't so hyped.
  7:58am
Chuck:

Speak for yourself, Fred v H...
  7:58am
fred von helsing:

speaking of intrepid DJ's... I just watched "The Boat That Rocked"... it's very silly but very entertaining. Part 1 is a John Hughes sex farce and part 2 is "Titanic" on drugs, but the whole package is really a lot of fun
  7:59am
Dave B:

@ Meghan and everyone - I work for one of the big three old school media companies in the states, and this kinda fear mongering is the thing that embarrasses me most.

I think the weather department should be paid on a scale of accuracy, and be fined when they get it way wrong.
  7:59am
jeff p:

I don't think anyone was expecting things to be as bad as they were in the Adirondacks or esp. Vermont
  7:59am
Meghan:

Hey there Jim.... I mean the 24/7 coverage..... that was a bit much. Granted, it was bad, but they were reporting the same stuff over and over.... What they were saying was important, but it was crazy over the top....
  8:02am
Dave B:

and now for a brief intermission:

http://www.gif.tv/gifs/giftv-458-lookdown.gif

.... continue
  8:03am
fred von helsing:

Europe: The Promised Land of Godless Bolzhevism and Shameless Floozies! I love it!
  8:05am
Jim Devoid:

I understand on the 24/7 aspect, Meghan. I just put on the old weather radio ( O=I love those robot voices!) and turned the TV off. To be honest, I did once with that Jim Cantore was washed out to sea on th eone time that I put on the WC...OK, I said it.
  8:06am
fred von helsing:

@DaveB thank you. that was strangely refreshing.
  8:06am
Elwyn:

I don;t think most of my friends like those animated GIF TVs I send them! One of my friends who is a cop and loves soccer, deleted the post of the guy lining up to kick a soccer ball into an open door of a police van.
  8:06am
Simon:

On a lighter note; one of the numerous Weather Channel captions; "Virginia gets pounded by Irene"
  8:06am
Jim Devoid:

uggh: "wish that" not "with that"
  8:07am
Jim Devoid:

@Simon: lolz!
  8:08am
Meghan:

I posted that one Simon!
