angelicaw-caw it is a strange and wonderful thing.... as long as you aren't falling asleep....
  6:13am
Dave B:

Good call on this, rather than "magic bus" Meghan. My "smaht" playlist logic wasn't working so good with this theme...

And good morning to all Park Attendees!
  6:13am
fred von helsing:

hey just got here what did I miss
  6:14am
hamburger:

  6:15am
Meghan:

You almost missed the bus..... good thing we are still waiting for the drummer....
  6:16am
dirty old man:

  6:17am
fred von helsing:

We're all bozos on this bus !
  6:17am
Elwyn:

Looking forward to 3 hours of Neil Peart jokes.
  6:18am
Dave B:

@Elwyn:

"Well, prepare to be Rushified!"
  6:20am
Chuck:

The bus is gonna need to find some alternate routes due to flooding (again!).
  6:22am
fred von helsing:

We're gonna hafta disassemble the bus and haul it piecemeal across a rope line across a raging river and then put the damned thing back together again
  6:24am
Simon:

Cracking start to the show. The drummers just arrived, and he's brought his Best of Rush to play on the stereo. Some great drum solos there...
  6:24am
fred von helsing:

RUSH!!!!!!!
  6:26am
Dave B:

Didn't Monster Garage convert a school bus into a pontoon bus?
  6:26am
ausmanx:

this bus journey is sounding more and more like a disaster movie... but i do want to be in it
  6:27am
Chuck:

Probably easier to convert a bus into a submarine!
  6:28am
Dave B:

true. It's already yellow....

:-)
  6:29am
fred von helsing:

Our underwater theme bus needs to be nucular-powered !

  6:35am
Meghan:

ha! very true!
  6:36am
Dave B:

  6:37am
other david:

*holds lighter high above head*

  6:37am
fred von helsing:

OK everybody what does the ULTIMATE TOUR BUS contain?
  6:38am
Chuck:

Wow, that was weird. Momentarily lost my internet connection....
Seriously, JOURNEY, Meghan!
  6:38am
Meghan:

Dave..... it truly hurts me to play Journey...... but in my research, this damn song kept popping up.... so i figured I had to play it. Remember, I have played ONE Rush song, ONE Grateful Dead song...... and now ONE Journey..... that will be all!
  6:39am
Dave B:

hehhehhehh - Just teasing. When's James Taylor gonna make the show?

@Fred:
kegerator
bong
trim

(not necessarily in that order)
  6:41am
fred von helsing:

powerhitter

duct tape in a variety of festive colors
  6:44am
ausmanx:

  6:52am
Meghan:

Deodorant...... LOTS of Deodorant. And Earplugs
  6:53am
Rob in soggy Maryland:

Good morning all from a soggy sodden wet DC suburb. I'm just floating by right now. Bobbing, almost. Bob in soggy Maryland. Yikes.
  6:54am
Meghan:

awwww.... *passes a towel*
  6:54am
Dave B:

I recently read about that rider thing as well. Reminds me of this:

http://www.thekitchn.com/ol-images/kitchen/uploads/7-10-07brokenbread.jpg

(name that film)
  6:54am
Chuck:

F**CKING WEATHER!!! It's screwing up my work schedule since I can't pick up 400 lbs. of plaster in this!
  6:55am
Chuck:

"This is Spinal Tap", Dave...
  6:55am
Dave B:

@Chuck:

http://thefuckingweather.com/?zipcode=new+paltz%2C+NY
  6:56am
ausmanx:

i feel like i'm listening to a british station, the way you guys are all talking about the weather... it's really that bad there, huh? come to sunny australia!
  6:57am
Chuck:

"I want Big Bread!"
  6:57am
Dave B:

That is correct.

And remember - this November 11 is International Nigel Tufnel Day. It wont happen again for another one hundred years!!!

11/11/11
  6:59am
Rob in soggy Maryland:

Thanks Megan. Can you pass me another thousand when you have a chance? Or, barring that, an empty oil barrel or ten?

I love this Rolling Stones song!!

Ausmanx, 2.3 to 2.5 inches in my suburb just in the last 30 hours. That's almost 6.5 cm of rain. That's on top of whatever fell earlier than 30 hours ago.
  6:59am
fred von helsing:

8-track! of course!
  6:59am
Chuck:

"This one goes up to eleven..."
  7:00am
Meghan:

we must be getting tail ends of another hurricane......
  7:00am
Dave B:

"don't touch it. Don't even look at it"
  7:00am
Chuck:

Tropical storm Lee actually, Meg...
  7:01am
fred von helsing:

I just posted to the Awesome Technicians group, let's see if anyone shows up!
  7:02am
Rob in soggy Maryland:

Meghan, could you play the new cover of Kate Bush's "The Dreaming"? It's by The Galoshes and it's called "The Raining". Thanks!

Meghan, the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee amalgamated with a strong and evidently stalled cold front.
  7:02am
Chuck:

I can't even get into my own town, Rob. The only road there crosses the Wallkill River and is flooded out...
  7:02am
fred von helsing:

HUGE box of miscellaneous cables and plugs
  7:02am
Meghan:

Then I was right! It was a hurricane...... lovely hurricane season. I guess it's gonna be a bad one this year....
  7:03am
Meghan:

Good thing I was gonna cancel coming up tomorrow then! I was just shy of having enough rubber, so I had to order some.....
  7:04am
Chuck:

How much did you use?
  7:04am
Rob in soggy Maryland:

Chuck, you live up in or near Irene-devestation land, right? Yikes, I hope the waters recede soon.

Meghan, the hurricane season is bad for the northeast. Otherwise it's been fairly unremarkable.
  7:04am
Dave B:

@Fred -

Big Bread
  7:05am
fred von helsing:

@DaveB Huh?!
  7:06am
Chuck:

Think Fred just lost the thread, Dave. heheh...
  7:07am
Dave B:

@Fred -

context:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ardysVzHwSA
  7:07am
Meghan:

@Chuck- It was more than 20 lbs! Haven't poured it yet. I didn't want to pour and run out. Rather have it all there if I need to pour extra. The clay I used was rather wet, so I am not fully sure yet...... maybe it'll give the plaster some drying time, but I doubt it!
  7:07am
Rob in soggy Maryland:

This show really is 1970s top 40/classic rock. It's refreshing on this gray wet morning.
  7:08am
Simon:

Lookng forward to some Boston...
  7:09am
Chuck:

Understood. Wet clay will reduce the amount by around 3 lbs. though...
  7:09am
other david:

someone better tell Clay about this show, he'll love it :)
  7:10am
Dave B:

I hope you play that Zappa song I shared on FB
  7:11am
fred von helsing:

haven't been checking vids. am locked in life-or-death struggle with billG crapware. there's no duct tape that can help me now...
  7:11am
Dave B:

sunny and happy / soggy and crappy
  7:12am
Dave B:

no probs Fred. Its the back stage scene from "Spinal Tap" where Nigel complains about the size of the bread
  7:12am
fred von helsing:

ooh meghan has M.C. crush !
  7:16am
Dave B:

W00T -

The Devil Went Down To Georgia!!!

<<exits stage left>>
  7:16am
ausmanx:

hey meghan, is all this stuff really in the fmu library, or did you have to raid your dad's vinyl collection?
  7:18am
Chuck:

Yay, Patti!
  7:18am
fred von helsing:

Yeah Meghan! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nngUgSWP-iM "Eesti" is "Estonia" in Estonian
  7:19am
fred von helsing:

and more http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=albYk0A_N5Q (finnish "ä" is pronounced like "a" in "cat" so it's just a finnish play on english)
  7:20am
Meghan:

Well, this is all in the library..... Remember, FMU was around during the release of these albums..... and so were some of these DJ's! If I raided my dad's record collection, it would be painful. Roger Whitaker anyone?
  7:21am
Chuck:

Ouch, Meghan!
  7:21am
fred von helsing:

Röyhkä ja Rättö ja Lehtisalo - Saarenmaa (it's that big big island in the northwest of Estonia)
  7:22am
other david:

YESSS!!! Pavement <3
  7:22am
Dave B:

@Fred/Meghan - RAUD-ANTS!!!!

Estonian Folk-Metal
  7:23am
ausmanx:

i bet Roger Whitaker did a song about drugs and debauchery on the road...
  7:25am
fred von helsing:

Holy crap Meghan I'm getting a crapload of links, I'll faceborg you with links and stuff later !
  7:28am
will:

Don't forget "Opening Act " by Ugly Duckling!
  7:29am
Meghan:

good! do that fred!
  7:29am
fred von helsing:

Can you do a show about junk food? There's gotta be songs about twinkies and funyums and french fries and rope-a-ronis and hot dogs and mystery meat and school cafeteria food and motor meat and you could play horrible jingles from days of yore and songs about coughing kibble
  7:30am
fred von helsing:

debauchery, now there's a word I wish I could use more often
  7:34am
Chuck:

Try using this one, Fred. I sometimes do:
Q: "How are you doing, Fred?"
You: " Oh, you know, the commiting the usual unspeakable acts of debauchery."
  7:36am
fred von helsing:

I guess that's way funkier than "S.S.D.D." :-D
  7:37am
Chuck:

You'll either get a laugh or a shocked look, Fred. Both of which are fun!
  7:41am
Chuck:

Does the bass player wear medical tape on her fingers when she plays, Meghan? Stand up is rough on the finger tips!
  7:44am
Meghan:

She does..... Jeff doesn't when he plays, but she plucks the hell out of those strings. And for slapping bass, those strings are usually nylon.... but if you are fancy, you can get gut.....
  7:46am
Chuck:

Just asking because I've known some stand up players that are aggressive! Bloody finger tips hamper your playing!
  7:52am
Chuck:

These guys are quite fun, Meghan! Had you seen them perform before this?
  7:52am
Dave B:

@ Fred - I usual state the variant "S.S.E.D"

I just got some nylon flatwounds for my Vox Apollo IV. Nice warm sound!
  7:54am
fred von helsing:

@DaveB and the E stands for... Excellent?
  7:54am
Meghan:

Jeff's band happened to open for them, so I saw them in Asbury Park. Other than that, no! They are a fairly new band
  7:55am
Chuck:

I still like my response better, Dave/Fred. It hasn't become a cliche, at least not yet...
  7:55am
Dave B:

hahah - I wish.

E = Every.
  8:03am
Dave B:

I had to step out for a minute, and missed a bit of this set. Where do these guys hail from?
  8:03am
Chuck:

I think the info says Denver, Dave...
  8:04am
Dave B:

and Fred:
"Too Many Twinkies" by The Queers
http://www.myspace.com/thequeers/music/songs/too-many-twinkies-50729674
  8:05am
Chuck:

Looks like they're playing at Red Rocks in CO in the pic Meghan put up....
  8:07am
Dave B:

@chuck - yep....

Meghan - Hoagy Carmichael - Georgia On My Mind

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YSKfkJUKbOc
  8:11am
Chuck:

Holy crap! Who'd a thunk someone would do a JD song in reggae style? And I have seen Toots! Spring Weekend at SUNY New Paltz 1982!
  8:17am
Dave B:

me likee Old 97's
  8:19am
fred von helsing:

Spam, wonderful Spam ! (except for union-busting part, so I only eat it once a year)
  8:20am
Chuck:

Ditto, DB.
Interesting that it seems everyone apart from Dave, Fred, and myself have somehow exited...
  8:22am
fred von helsing:

Oh well. Hey did anyone check those French songs I posted? The covers are mega fab IMHO
  8:25am
Chuck:

While I'm thinking of it could you please give me a call when you have a chance today, Meghan? Some business matters I'd like to discuss and this isn't the appropriate place for such...
  8:26am
pierre:

it is a late checking for me here
better late than not.
BONJOUR MEGHAN !
BONJOUR FRIENDS !
  8:26am
pierre:

it is a late checking for me here
better late than not.
BONJOUR MEGHAN !
BONJOUR FRIENDS !
  8:26am
Meghan:

I did..... They are great!

@Chuck- I can after the show, but working directly after this....
  8:26am
Meghan:

Bonjour Pierre!
  8:27am
Chuck:

Bonjour Pierre!
  8:28am
glenn:

i knew that was the weakerthans, are they not awesome?
  8:29am
Chuck:

Ah, there are the other listeners!
  8:29am
Meghan:

That was my first time hearing them Glenn..... so I should check out more?
  8:32am
glenn:

oh yes. john k. samson is a very good songwriter, and i like his voice a lot.
  8:33am
glenn:

sorry - sampson.
  8:33am
Simon:

I stumbled on the weakerthans a couple of years ago during a bored weekend in Vanouver - your dog might not appreciate their songs about cats but as glenn says excellent songs & very good lyrics/
  8:34am
Simon:

have you ever done a pets theme..?
  8:35am
karen:

HI Meghan
Enjoying your show..we do have some good Turkish music..we'll get in touch later.
  8:35am
Chuck:

She's done dogs and cats, Simon. Birds also, I think...
  8:36am
fred von helsing:

A pets theme... three hours of songs about Garfield...
  8:36am
Dave B:

Hey Pierre!

The new "Chinese Man" album is rather sweet!
  8:37am
glenn:

this is a good time to give props to the deep dark woods. the best band in canada.
  8:39am
Chuck:

Are you in Canada, Glenn?
  8:39am
fred von helsing:

@glenn Maybe, but sometimes The Birthday Massacre hits the spot
  8:39am
Simon:

thank chuck. only been listening a few weeks so it's mostly been countries so far...
  8:40am
glenn:

you betcha. trawna.
  8:41am
Chuck:

Then what's your opinion of Rush, Glenn?
  8:41am
glenn:

i don't know the birthday massacre, but i reccomend you check out t.d.d.w.. lots of stuff on youtube.
  8:42am
glenn:

rush is........... the biggest waste of vinyl in the history of music.
  8:43am
Chuck:

You just made Meghan very happy, Glenn!
  8:44am
fred von helsing:

@glenn No maybe this is the greatest waste :) http://blog.wfmu.org/freeform/2011/09/how-to-housebreak-your-dog.html
  8:45am
Chuck:

I, of course, completely disagree. But a taste in music is much like a taste in food. Some stuff you hate, some you love....
  8:45am
Dave B:

Gotta split. See ya next week!
  8:45am
Meghan:

ha! Fred, at least that is informative!

See ya Dave!
  8:45am
Chuck:

Ta, DB!
  8:49am
glenn:

oh, i know. i just hate their songs, while acknowledging their very obvious musicianship. however, great musicians are not always great songwriters and vice versa.
  8:50am
fred von helsing:

Hah when the Faceborg meme was to put a profile picture of someone your friends say you resemble I had LEMMY !
  8:51am
glenn:

i can't think of a zeppelin tune about touring, which is kinda odd, given the tales of debauchery and excess that seem to follow them around.
  8:51am
Chuck:

Agree, Glenn. Some folks are excellent in a technical sense of playing, but can't write a decent song to save their lives. Ted Nuggent comes to mind...
  8:52am
Meghan:

Stranglehold is a great Nuge song..... I think of Steely Dan....
  8:53am
glenn:

hmmmmm. who wrote the amboy dukes stuff? i love that first record, i can't remember the name of it off the top of my head.
  8:53am
Brian:

John Schaefer just played We are the Road Crew on WNYC's Soundcheck. That's a weird bit of synchronicity.
  8:53am
glenn:

is it journey to the center of your mind?
