Listener comments!

  5:55pm glenn:

hey, belated congratulations to you. i'm sure you can hear the noisemakers in the background.
  5:55pm listener james from westwood:

good tuesday, all! been virtually a castaway lately ... lots of archive catchup while working or out of the house.
  5:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Pfffft! Bluurrrrttt! Zwwwwwonnk! (More like a Batman episode than noisy revelry.)
  5:57pm øשl:

yay i made it. how goes it dug? you sir are my sole/soul soundtrack as i toil away on this warm afternoon. blessings
  5:58pm ndbob:

evening Doug, James Glenn, Owl, everyone!
  5:58pm Doug Schulkind:

Hello Listener J from W! Please feel free to copyedit the playlist.

Greetings, Sir øשl!
  5:59pm listener james from westwood:

howdy everybody! øשl, i too am laboring along with drummer-programmed enhancement. it will result in rave reviews of my finished product.
  6:02pm glenn:

ndbob, were i wearing any form of chapeau, i would doff it your direction, you old doffelganger, you.
  6:02pm øשl:

g'afternoon ndbob, james + frenz. back to work!
  6:02pm ndbob:

:)
  6:03pm glenn:

is it snowing in n.d. yet?
  6:04pm ndbob:

It was 86 on Saturday but... a freeze warning for tonight.
  6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

I'm glad you're here, Glenn.
  6:05pm glenn:

is archive catchup similar to heinz?
  6:06pm glenn:

well, i have to go pick up some grocs for dins, but i can stick around for half an hour or so.
  6:06pm Doug Schulkind:

I lament the eradication of the spelling "catsup."
  6:06pm Carmichael:

Doug!
  6:07pm ndbob:

hi Carmichael!
  6:07pm listener james from westwood:

the fmu archive server has way more than 57 varieties!
  6:08pm glenn:

all together now - carmichael!
  6:08pm Doug Schulkind:

Yes, brother Carmichael, yes!
  6:09pm Carmichael:

He he ... Hiya, everyones.
  6:10pm glenn:

there's a pretty great, if wildly expensive, store in toronto called the cheese boutique. i swear they have at least 100 different kinds of ketchup, and some of them are still called catsup.
  6:13pm Carmichael:

As it should be, Glenn, as it should be.
  6:15pm listener james from westwood:

out of curiosity, i looked up the origin of the word ketchup. it comes from the malay for fish sauce.
  6:15pm glenn:

that said, there are only two things ketch- i mean catsup belongs on - grilled cheese and french fries.
  6:17pm Carmichael:

Some people here in the Lower 48 put it on scrambled eggs. I find that disgusting.
  6:17pm glenn:

i realize that may be an unpopular position, but i stick by it.
  6:18pm ndbob:

I had a friend in fifth grade who put ketchup on everything -at least everything in a school lunch.
  6:19pm Doug Schulkind:

Now now, Carmichael, we are nothing if not a tolerant crew here at Give the Drummer Some. At least Ronnie Reagan's Sec. of Agriculture was brilliant enough to call ketchup a vegetable.
  6:20pm ndbob:

I do remember that.
  6:23pm Carmichael:

Mrs. Carmichael and I were just talking about that last night! I was mocking a Nightline piece on a professor who concluded SpongeBob Square Pants makes kids get ADD.
  6:29pm listener james from westwood:

attica's one of those stories where my parents told me one story about it, and then i learned a considerably different one during college.
  6:31pm Doug Schulkind:

The misinformation campaign that began even before the uprising was ended continues to this day...
  6:33pm Maricôt:

I've never heard of it, so it's being quite educational for me.
  6:34pm glenn:

see, i love spongebob, but i can kinda see where they're coming from. besides, my attention span was shot to shit by roger ramjet.
  6:36pm ndbob:

I remember the basics about Attica, but not much more.
  6:36pm Doug Schulkind:

Yay, Maricôt's here. Where are you listening from, Maricôt?
  6:36pm Carmichael:

I remember a movie about Attica with Kyle MacLachlan and Clarence Williams III about 10-15 years ago.
  6:37pm Maricôt:

Rio, Brazil. Not much American History in our school program,
  6:37pm Doug Schulkind:

Spike Lee's father, Bill, is on bass here.
  6:40pm listener james from westwood:

ah, the benefits of being free from the fcc.
  6:40pm listener james from westwood:

so that's where that expression comes from!
  6:43pm Rockefeller:

“They did a fabulous job. It really was a beautiful operation.”
  6:43pm listener james from westwood:

(the "kissed when i get f'd" one; first heard that one from a girlfriend.)
  6:45pm Doug Schulkind:

I believe that Rockefeller quote above is accurate. Just revealed today in tapes made public. Rockefeller said it while de-briefing Nixon on the phone.
  6:48pm ndbob:

reading about that conversation now.
  7:03pm glenn:

ya wanna know what i love? i love how, when i'm going to the grocery store, the smokin' hot chick in front of me leans over and horks a big fat loogy onto the sidewalk.
  7:11pm listener james from westwood:

i'd have proposed ... that she step in front of a bus.
  7:12pm ndbob:

excellent and thought provoking show Doug!
  7:13pm Doug Schulkind:

I am blessed you heard it, ndbob.
  7:14pm listener james from westwood:

beauty out of tragedy. anger out of harmony. nicely done.
