STARBREAKER
  9:04pm
Ajax:

WOOOO CAN'T WAIT!!!!
  9:09pm
Stevel:

Again, another favorite band. Damn you Cute Lepers!!
  9:10pm
Julie:

the real test of your hotel's internet connection...how WFMU online plays :(
  9:10pm
Stevel:

Oh. My. God. I LOVE this song, and this band. Just call me fan-boy tonight.
  9:11pm
Stevel:

Julie: There ARE other hotels, eh?
  9:12pm
Julie:

if it gets really bad I can try on my DROID
  9:13pm
Julie:

how come all the Bauhaus covers sound like Bowie?
  9:13pm
blackgreen13:

@Julie: got an iphone yesterday, the app works phenomenal
  9:14pm
Julie:

@Black yes very nice to hsve!
  9:14pm
G:

Bowie and Bolan came out of the same general musical environment in late 60sd/early 70s UK
  9:15pm
G:

"Telegram Sam" is Bolan
  9:15pm
Julie:

Yes but Bolan doesn't sound that much like Bowie, the Bauhaus Bowie & Bolan covers sound like Bowie
  9:16pm
Julie:

I forget which Bowie cover I played, but it sounded so much like Bowie it was kinda pointless
  9:17pm
PB:

Wasn't Bolan a huge star in the UK in the early 70s who never really caught on in North America.
  9:17pm
Kat:

Oh, they were saying "spread your WINGS". I thought...um, never mind.
  9:19pm
Julie:

Bolan was ENORMOUS..but rather small
  9:19pm
efd:

Hi everyone! I'm ALREADY behind on the comments, but I'm happy to see so many this early in the show. Thanks for listening!
  9:19pm
Julie:

He even had his own TV show not long before he died
  9:20pm
Julie:

And every time I'm listening to T. Rex in my mini I get the willies!
  9:20pm
seang:

the 9-5 grind must be broken-I will break it
  9:20pm
Randy in NC:

@Kat same here...
  9:21pm
Julie:

@EFD What, like you're doing anything else in there?
  9:21pm
G:

Bowie and Bolan have plenty in common. "Changes" and several Bolan tunes were on the charts and radio when I lived in England in 71-72, and were seen at that time as comparable, but on a finer-grained level distinctive, examples of glam.
  9:22pm
Kat:

@Randy glad it wasn't just me!
  9:23pm
Julie:

@G I am talking about vocally, and I don't find them that similar.
  9:24pm
12539:

@Julie, you played Bauhaus' version of Ziggy.
  9:25pm
Julie:

@12539 I thought it might be that. They did another Bowie cover as well. I forget which. Thanks :)
  9:26pm
john:

Brilliant band, Au Pairs. Sadly, always seemed to clear the room when I put the record on back in the day...of course, when this came out, I roomed with someone whose favorite groop was (excuse the non-family-hour-friendly expression) Marshall Tucker Band. Ah, 1980.
  9:27pm
Obvious:

Equal but different like Bolan & Bowie
  9:27pm
T-Zero:

I don't think I ever heard au pairs before. I really liked this.
  9:27pm
PB:

Speaking of Bowie and covers, is Pin-Ups any good? My favorite Bowie era is early 70s, especially Aladdin Sane.
  9:27pm
Ajax:

AU PAIRS and MTB both rule. It's obvious they heard it in a love song.
  9:27pm
Stevel:

If you haven't seen Au Pairs in Urrgh, a Music War...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB-DAyZ-3Nk
  9:27pm
Julie:

@EFD do you carry one of those nifty 7" cases with you every week?
  9:28pm
G:

Yes, and people can say the glam bands Sweet and Slade have nothing to do with each otrher because the singers sound different, but that is the intellectual preference of being a "splitter" (who emphasizes distinctions) rather than a "lumper" (who emphasizew similarities).

In the early 70s, when I read Melody Maker, New Musical Express, etc., weekly, Bolan was slagged off plenty because of his teen-girl following. Because Bowie's following was like that, he got more respect. After his death, music writers rewrote history to claim they'd appreciated Bolan more than they actually had in the 71-73 period.
  9:28pm
Julie:

@PB everything I hear on Pinups disappoints me :(
  9:28pm
efd:

@Julie, yes I do!

@john, update on your canine oncology patient, please!
  9:30pm
Ike:

@Julie@9:10, is that w/Flash or 128k? If 128k, always try trading down to Flash first. Sounds much better than the other low-bandwidth streams.
  9:31pm
Kat:

God bless the Flash stream, it's the only thing that consistently works on my crap work computer.
  9:31pm
seang:

don't get hung up on the statistics
  9:31pm
PB:

@Julie, thanks. I have generally not heard good things about that album. Guess that's why I never bought it.
  9:31pm
Julie:

I need one of those cases! @Ike yeah I am using the Flash..it still buffers a bit.
  9:33pm
Julie:

@PB I haven't heard the whole thing, but every time I'm like Oh Bowie's got a cover of that I listen and I'm like...ugh... I think he kind of reverted to his Newley style when he did that stuff
  9:34pm
Justsheanon:

Loved the last two tracks, was seriously close to mellowing out.
  9:35pm
seang:

Friday on my Mind is really great on Pinups
  9:36pm
Julie:

@Seang ahh. I haven't heard that one yet, I'll check it out thanks
  9:36pm
john:

Evan--thanks for asking! Here's the (ahem) short answer. Third infusion of chemo yesterday, so he's kind of a logy dogy for a few days (but listening to the show!), though better than you or I would handle carboplatin. Did some scans that appeared clear, but still out for expert opinion. Biopsy of one other thing that's the open question. Surgical recovery complete..paws crossed!
  9:37pm
Danielle:

Listening from Montreal and very much digging your show. Keeping me sane during intense article reading!
  9:37pm
Julie:

awww poor doggie :(
  9:38pm
seang:

I used to think Bauhaus was so spooky in High School
  9:39pm
blackgreen13:

@seang: sky's gone out!
  9:40pm
Julie:

Texas is on fire :(
  9:41pm
Ignore Function:

I first heard of T Rex from that Bauhaus cover.
  9:41pm
john:

Thanks Julie....he's coming along quite nicely, we think/hope! Especially considering the prognosis had we not done all this...
  9:42pm
Julie:

I heard of T. Rex from other people's songs
  9:44pm
PB:

Can someone please explain to me why Roxy Music is always referred to as a "glam" band.
  9:45pm
Julie:

I bet funambulist is fun to say
  9:46pm
Danne D:

Hi Funk Fans!

It's sad about Texas Julie :( But there are lessons to be learned - like don't cut the fire budget in some misguided effort for "savings"

Hope your doggy feels better soon John!

Greetings to our friend north of the border. Danielle is a very nice name :)

Hi to the ton of other commenters as well :)
  9:47pm
G:

FWIW, from the UK angle T Rex were absolutely the biggest thing going in pop in 1971-72, and Bowie's emergence after several years of struggling came in the wake of T Rex; "Changes" was rising on the charts in early 72, but Bolan had had maybe 4 top singles by then.

T Rex had one number ten or so hit here in the US (Bang a Gong), but 3 or 4 top-three singles in the UK every calendar year in the early 70s. Bowie eclipsed Bolan as he gradually became yesterday's news in the 72-74 period.
  9:47pm
efd:

@Julie, just you wait!

@john, thanks for the update - continued best wishes for a speedy doggie recovery.

@Danielle, thanks and welcome! Always happy to have new listeners on board!
  9:47pm
Julie:

@Danne Of course Danielle is cool she's in Montreal, one of the best places EVER.
  9:47pm
cheri:

i always look forward to wednesday night!! evan you're the funk master!!! hiya julie & danne,,
  9:47pm
Randy in NC:

Saw GBV this weekend. Robert Pollard said it was their last show...
  9:48pm
Danne D:

Hard to believe baseball season is almost over :( Doing my best to catch that pesky Aharon, but I fear my late charge might be too little and too late :(
  9:49pm
Danne D:

Agree with that Julie :) It's been too long since I've been on Rue Ste. Catherine

Hiya Cheri!
  9:49pm
seang:

always wanted to go to Montreal, I lived in Portland,ME and now Boston-gotta go soon
  9:50pm
mildred:

Evan, You're really spinning up my alley this evening. Love everything thus far!!!
  9:50pm
Danne D:

sean, when you go, make sure you check out the basillica!
  9:50pm
Julie:

I'm confused now. David Bowie sang for Bauhaus? Robert Palmer beat up Marc Bolan? The UK press were much more interested in Bryan Ferry in lipstick? It is too much for my little brain to follow.
  9:51pm
G:

PB: Again, there are distinctions as well as similarities, but Bolan, Bowie, Sweet, and Roxy all had lead singers who were programmatically not macho-style rock singers. Some people who were there at the time took that as a gay subtext, or satiric camp, etc., but it was definitely not your hard-rock macho singing style. Bolan was the first to do that with huge success in 71, but he had some forebears in folk-psychedia ofin the late 60s, which was Bolan's original pre-glam "genre".
  9:51pm
Julie:

@Seang GO GO GO Everyone I know adores Montreal. EFD went not long ago, so did Meghan McKee. WFMU people love Montreal!
  9:51pm
sisiati:

keresek valakit aki tudja mit jelent az hogy URH
  9:52pm
seang:

Hank IV rocks!
  9:52pm
cheri:

the reason that i"m here is because my plans have been changed,,evan,,julie i just love bowie!!
  9:52pm
Danielle:

Montreal is the best. Don't want to bark up my own tree, but you all may want to check out www.cjlo.com, campus radio station here.. I have a show on Thursdays 10-midnight EST- Runny Noise. WFMU is my go-to at home though.
  9:52pm
Julie:

Bolan was much more Donovan-esque in his early years, and Bowie was more "pop" in the original sense
  9:53pm
Julie:

Cool, Danielle..I will have to check that out. And great name!
  9:53pm
Randy in NC:

@G as I recall Bolan/T Rex was originally Tyranosaurus Rex, a folk outfit.
  9:53pm
seang:

yer killin me--alright I'm goin-be an expat-maybe it's the town I've been looking for all this time
  9:54pm
G:

Yes to both Randy and Julie, as best I know....
  9:54pm
PB:

@G. Thanks. Very informative and interesting explanation. Bottom line, I guess, more of it had to do with the "look", rather than the music.
  9:54pm
Julie:

@Randy I still haven't heard anything that sounds anything LIKE Tyrannosaurus Rex did
  9:55pm
Sean:

Bauhaus' cover of Ziggy sounds like Bowie because at the time everybody kept saying, oh everything Bauhaus does sounds just like Bowie, so they said, oh yeah, we'll give you something that sounds just like Bowie, so they did an extra-Bowie-ish version of one of Bowie's signature songs, and it became a huge hit (in the UK). Their cover of Telegram Sam sounds like Bowie because everything Bauhaus does sounds like Bowie.
  9:55pm
Julie:

Bolan had a couple of earlier projects..um..Toby Tyler..and I think another name as well, one of them had Tony Visconti in the band as well.
  9:56pm
alberto:

glunk
  9:56pm
blackgreen13:

At the time, Bowie came across as pretty strange... I don't suppose unless you were there at the time how strange he seemed. There was a lot of mythology. that meant a lot to us back when
  9:56pm
cheri:

julie don't you just love evan & bowie?? i do!!
  9:56pm
G:

But teens in the UK in 72-73 (I was one, and talked with plenty of them) saw Bowie as "flash" or gay and hence glam, not straight pop or straight rock. Certainly not the macho singing style of glam-hardrock fusion groups, such as most prominently Slade.
  9:56pm
PB:

Speaking of sound-alikes, I know nothing about them but at least one of the vocalists in Fleet Foxes sounds exactly like Graham Nash.
  9:57pm
Sean:

Bowie and Bolan are alike in the same way that the Beatles and Brian Wilson are alike.

That makes Gary Glitter Jan & Dean. I'm not sure what it makes Steve Harley or Roxy Music...
  9:57pm
Julie:

Someone left a Bowie record (changes) at my house when I was a kid and I was like EWWWW..then I listened to it.
  9:57pm
Danne D:

Look at Danielle all with her own show and stuff :)
  9:58pm
Randy in NC:

Julie, are you going to see the Humans?
  9:58pm
Julie:

So Montreal has good radio? We can all move there now!
  9:58pm
Danielle:

sorry, don't know the etiquette for writing on these message board things.
  9:58pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

EFD, can you say "A Happy How Do You Do" with that crazy echo effect?
  9:58pm
Julie:

@Randy I think so. I keep forgetting to buy my ticket!
  9:59pm
cheri:

julie thats one of my my favorite bowie tunes "changes"
  10:00pm
Randy in NC:

@Julie, you must report back if you go.
  10:00pm
Danielle:

CKUT in Montreal is great too. And CISM.. for those of you who speak French
  10:00pm
Julie:

@Cheri I think that means you need to hear more Bowie
  10:00pm
Sean:

Tony Visconti produced the four Tyrannosaurus Rex albums, and the first few T. Rex albums. He played bass and produced 'The Man Who Sold The World" for Bowie, and, well, a bunch of his albums after that :p Don't think he ever actually played in a band with Bolan.
  10:00pm
Julie:

@Danielle what is your favorite record store there? I always come home with TONS of stuff from Mont-Royal
  10:00pm
Danne D:

That's @folder_rock on twitter for forgetful folks like me :)
  10:01pm
Danne D:

:( I wanna go to Montreal now
  10:01pm
seang:

Is the rent affordable in Montreal?
  10:01pm
Danielle:

Atom Heart on Sherbrooke and St. Denis. The best.
  10:02pm
Randy in NC:

EFD, did you ever get to see the Bush Tetras back in the day? I always liked to see them.
  10:02pm
Julie:

It was one of those pre-T.Rex projects I thought Tony was the background singer or something
  10:02pm
mildred:

Well then... enough with the B's from England. What was Doug Gillard channelling with that B side 'cause I liked it a lot & didn't know he had all that dreamy inside him.
  10:03pm
Julie:

i never get sick of this song
  10:03pm
cheri:

keep on rocking evan!!!
  10:03pm
Danielle:

Ha! Yeah, rent is good I think compared to other Canadian cities... anywhere from $300/month to $800
  10:03pm
Danne D:

When is the record fair this year? It's usually the weekend before election day to totally make it impossible for me to go.
  10:03pm
seang:

yeah Mildred it was like Charlotte Sometimes
  10:04pm
Danne D:

Is Hurley's Pub still there on Crescent, Danielle? Very fun Irish Pub with live music on two levels.
  10:04pm
Julie:

$300 a month? Even in Canadian money that sounds REALLY good
  10:04pm
Danne D:

(The clubs that are on Crescent in the opposite direction from Ste. Catherine's tend to frown on hockey jerseys as suitable attire.
  10:05pm
Julie:

I like LAB on Rue Rachel
  10:05pm
Danne D:

Canadian money is pretty close to par with ours these days, Julie so it's pretty much like $300 in real money ;)
  10:05pm
Julie:

@Danne weekend before Halloween
  10:05pm
Pablo:

Damn -- I went out to make coffee and missed "Too Many Creeps"!
  10:06pm
cheri:

evan,,julie & danne i have to split for now i might be back later,, if not good night!!!
  10:06pm
efd:

@Michael, I will definitely do that in an upcoming mic break!
  10:07pm
Danne D:

Thanks Julie - there's a ghost of a chance I may be able to sneak away from NJ and go for a little while this year.

Have a good night cheri
  10:07pm
efd:

@Pablo Eddie Money is your consolation prize.
  10:07pm
Danielle:

Hurley's is still there, I don't like Crescent though... P.S. I want your record collection. Thank you thank you thank you for the Bush Tetras
  10:07pm
Bill:

Eddie "The Tiebreaker" Money - nice!
  10:08pm
Ajax:

E-Money brought down the house with this one on the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk a few weeks ago! I was considering using it as a wedding "First dance" song but it gets too dirty in the breakdown. I said UH!
  10:08pm
efd:

"The Tiebreaker?"
  10:08pm
Ignore Function:

Is Eddie Money punk or glam rock?
  10:09pm
cod:

great drums
  10:09pm
john:

Glunk.
  10:09pm
Bill:

@efd - it's a long story - remind me to tell you someday...
  10:09pm
Alk:

Oh, no. People, people. What's with the Classic Rock? I've heard this song at least 438 times.
  10:10pm
osvi:

How about some White Hills to go with my drive to see White Hills?
  10:11pm
efd:

Bill, I'll look forward to it.

Alk, oh, gosh, sorry to break up three hours of new unsigned little-known acts with a hit from the 70s. You're welcome to tune elsewhere.
  10:11pm
cod:

sounds like They Might Be Giants. and that is not a good thing
  10:12pm
Danne D:

(Hurley is away from all that other stuff on Crescent - more laid back and friendly vibe - but I'm a sucker for Irish pubs (even though I don't drink)) - Good to know it's still there though :)

I saw Eddie Money play with Grand Funk Railroad a few years ago at like the NC state fair or somesuch. It was a fun show - at this stage of their careers there's a lot more laid back spirit everyone just goes out and has a fun time
  10:12pm

  10:14pm
Danielle:

I'm out. Thanks for the warm welcome! Have a great rest of show.
  10:15pm
Danne D:

actually I meant Velocity Girl, not Suddenly Tammy but that's splitting hairs.

Have a good night Danielle :) Welcome aboard :) Check out the many other fine shows on FMU - Bon Nuit!
  10:15pm
mildred:

Almost have forgiven myself for passing on Blondie tix tonight, AND don't try to tell me that 'don't lets start' isn't an awesome tune, just like 'baby, hold on' is. don't!
  10:15pm
efd:

thanks Danielle, enjoy the rest of your night!

Osvi, I didn't pull that CD but that's great that you're going to see them! Have you seen them before? They're soooo good live!

I missed hankIV- now THAT is some ROCK! sf represent!
  10:17pm
?:

Hi Evan - so glad to be here!
Lively crew tonight!
- I think Bauhaus may have bettered Eno on Third Uncle. Maybe just because I heard Bauhaus first.
@ Randy - did you see anyone else @ Hopscotch?
@Danielle - welcome!
@Julie - hi!
@John - Sending MANY good thoughts to you & your pup. Been there, done that, no fun...
  10:18pm
Holly in NC:

I am "?". But I've lost my Mysterians.
  10:18pm
Danne D:

HI question mark :)
Safe travels, cheri
  10:18pm
Danne D:

Hi Holly :D
  10:19pm
Julie:

@Holly! Hi! I am listening tonight from NC as well
  10:19pm
Julie:

how come there is no pop singer called Mark Question..it seems so obvious
  10:20pm
Holly in NC:

@Julie - good , er, question! And where are you?
  10:21pm
Danne D:

Sounds to me like you need to develop that persona and put out and album under that name, Julie :)
  10:21pm
Danne D:

Mark Question and Mister Ian
  10:22pm
Danne D:

LOL apparently there is a Mark Question, Julie:
http://www.myspace.com/markquestion
  10:22pm
Randy in NC:

At Hopscotch I saw the outdoor stuff, Guided By Voices, Drive By Truckers, Rosebuds, Superchunk, and The Flaming Lips. I really wanted to see Julianna Barwick and The Swans, but the wristbands were sold out.
  10:23pm
Julie:

@Holly Kill Devil Hills!
  10:23pm
Danne D:

Mark Question is one of the very few artists not to be found in the FMU archives
  10:24pm
Danne D:

The Wristbands would be a great name for a band
  10:24pm
Randy in NC:

@Holly, did you go and see anyone?
  10:24pm
Julie:

@Danne does he sound like Bowie though?
  10:24pm
Danne D:

Good question, I've have to listen to his stuff later :)
  10:25pm
PB:

Only on covers.
  10:25pm
Next Hurricane:

Kill Devil Hills is on my "maybe" list.
  10:26pm
Julie:

I want to hear Mark Question do a cover of a Bush Tetras song sounding like David Bowie
  10:27pm
Julie:

It's actually ON the emergency declaration list from Irene, but I haven't seen anything worrisome. Though apparently the road to Hatteras is out
  10:27pm
Holly in NC:

@Julie - NOT that you should ditch Evan, but you really s/b eating the Wed night late night sushi special @ Tortuga's Lie in Nag's Head. Really, really, you should...
  10:28pm
Randy in NC:

@Julie, it's washed away in 5 places.
  10:28pm
Julie:

@Holly I just got here tonight so I'm recovering from a long drive..but I will check that out!
  10:29pm
Julie:

@Randy Hatteras or KDH?
  10:29pm
Julie:

is this coldwave
  10:31pm
Holly in NC:

@Randy - I saw no one. My ex-husband saw the Swans Friday & said they were **amazing**. And he awesomely offered to let me borrow his wristband Saturday as he had to work night shift - but so did I. Bummer.
  10:32pm
Randy in NC:

@Julie, on the way to Hateras just above Rodanthe.
  10:32pm
cheri:

evan & julie thanx for letting me hanging out with you two,, be back in 2 weeks night for real.
  10:32pm
seang:

thanks for that clip Danielle--inspiring stuff
  10:33pm
Danne D:

will have to check out the Danielle clip after the show as well :)
  10:34pm
PB:

Completely off topic but inquring minds need to know: Was anyone else out there as disappointed as I was with Ty Segall's last album, Goodbye Bread?
  10:35pm
Randy in NC:

@Julie, I've never seen Superchunk before, they came out dialed up to 11, and maybe backed off to 10 once or twice.
@Holly, I have kiddies so that was the other reason I didn't invest in a wristband... I was wearing my WFMU colors, I saw one other person with an FMU shirt.
  10:36pm
Kat:

Thumbs up for Soft Metals into Zombie Zombie.
  10:37pm
Julie:

yeah this is very cool
  10:37pm
Chris:

Just tuned in, and weirded myself out by recognizing the Zombie Zombie cover of John Carpenter's theme. Looks like it's been a great show so far!
  10:40pm
Holly in NC:

Recently, some ex-goths who don't want to admit to being ex-goths have kinda appropriated & abused the terms "coldwave"and "darkwave" so that they feel better about listening to unhip music that has nothing to do with cold/dark wave

Me, I freely admit to LOVING the Sisters of Mercy 12"s!
  10:41pm
Julie:

Badwave..their stuff..not sisters
  10:43pm
Holly in NC:

@PB - yes
@Randy - I am honored to live down the block from Laura Ballance.
  10:46pm
Kat:

I will girlcrush forever on Laura Ballance
  10:48pm
Holly in NC:

@Kat -
Who wouldn't?
  10:49pm
Randy in NC:

Live, she's a pretty aggressive bass player. A lot of their sound is hers.
  10:50pm
Holly in NC:

PLUS, I hasten to add, she is very much responsible for Merge's success. VERY good - and ethical - businesswoman.
  10:51pm
Kat:

@Holly truth.
  10:53pm
G:

Small world, my current roommate's ex-roommate and good friend is a different Laura Ballance from Virginia, nearly the same age as the musician...
  10:54pm
Kat:

Haha, Liz Berg played Zombie Zombie into Zombi into Zomby on her show this week!
  10:54pm
Kat:

@G what are the odds???
  10:55pm
Randy in NC:

There was of course lots of Merge presence at Hopscotch. Jon Wurster introduced GBV, Kelly Crisp introduced Superchunk. And Rosebuds, Love Language, Superchunk, etc all played...
  10:55pm
Holly in NC:

If anyone wants a free, legal copy of the Sureshot Symphony Orchestra's song with Mighty Pope, look no further:
http://tinyurl.com/69jrxew
  10:57pm
efd:

@Kat, I missed that! Should have figured that somebody would be on top of that.
  10:57pm
G:

Not high, the Laura Ballance I know and saw last weekend is from the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area, just north of the Carolina border, but lives in NYC now...
  10:59pm
Danne D:

This is great :)
  11:00pm
Holly in NC:

Kid Congo always makes me very, very happy
  11:02pm
john:

  11:04pm

  11:12pm
Dillon Joseph:

  11:14pm
Listener:

Sleep is for ❏'s
  11:15pm
Stevel:

Dillon Joseph: There are no accidents

(one of us, one of us, one of us...)
  11:16pm
Holly in NC:

Re S. Salisbury - any relation to Ohio Express? Or C. Boettcher?
  11:16pm
Holly in NC:

Evan, you just answered me, sorry!
  11:17pm
Danne D:

EFD finally seems to be warming up to the new name ;)
  11:17pm
Holly in NC:

Steve1 -
Don't scare him off! Offer kool-aid...
  11:18pm
Danne D:

Dillon - it's the best accident you'll ever have. Stay awhile. Check out some of the other shows on WFMU. Note that if you like this show there's a few years worth of archived shows for you to dig into :) FMU is the best :)
  11:20pm
Dillon Joseph:

Well, I was actually directed here by the Modern Shark label out of Brooklyn, and I'm pretty sure they're on at 12. But I'm loving what I've heard thus far. And I like blue kool-aid, for future reference.
  11:25pm
Holly in NC:

For those of you who were here for efd's scary not-palmetto bug studio experience last week. here's a fun link:

  11:27pm
G:

The rare and spooky Albino Beetle.
  11:28pm
cheri:

  11:28pm
G:

efd is scared of bugs, especially ones that walk along the ceiling over your head :-P
  11:29pm
efd:

guilty as charged!
  11:30pm
Danne D:

any word on who your new bug repeller will be once Noah departs, Evan? Or will it be a rotating cast?
  11:30pm
G:

so that's why he never plays the beetles
  11:31pm
cheri:

see you all soon
  11:32pm
Holly in NC:

Evan -

  11:33pm
Danne D:

WOW! Jukebox! :) Quality early MTV Stuff :D
  11:33pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

  11:33pm
cheri:

  11:33pm
G:

  11:34pm
efd:

  11:34pm
G:

a bat tongue looks a lot like a cat tongue. inappropriately too similar, actually.
  11:35pm
Julie:

I liked this one
  11:35pm
Julie:

hey she kinda sounds like kim wilde doesn't she
  11:35pm
Danne D:

So I'm not sure what it says about our fantasy league, Evan, but The Scum Bunch is in 5th place and hasnt' made a trade all year (and apparently hasn't even tinkered with their lineup since like week 1)
  11:36pm
G:

then he cues "bad sport", lol
  11:37pm
Danne D:

@Julie that was when you had bands like the Bangles, Bananarama and the Belle Stars getting lots of play on MTV too.
  11:37pm
MTV:

Girls bands work nicely for tv ratings
  11:38pm
Danne D:

clearly

love the mash-up, Evan :)
  11:40pm
Suzi Quattro:

F*k you, MTV!
  11:40pm

i need your opinion julie,,you think i buy more bowie cds??
  11:45pm
Julie:

Cheri don't know..I do know he's got a TON
  11:46pm
Reality Check:

CDs are passing our of the culture, cheri. Check how low the prices are for used copies of any CDs that had big sales. Many people are downloading mp3s and selling CDs. Someday they may get cool again, like vinyl, but be prepared to wait a few decades.
  11:47pm
Danne D:

the more CDs for me then :D
  11:48pm
Thierry from France:

Hi. Any news from the Lyres these days?
  11:48pm
Danne D:

 again at the Noah News
  11:48pm
Noah:

SAY IT AIN'T SO!!
  11:49pm
Noah:

Shed a tear for Eddie... not me!
  11:50pm
G:

@Danne: Yeah, I buy CDs when they are cheaper even with shipping than mp3s, and then burn them to a wav or mp3 file myself :-) I save the treeware artwork and booklet in alpha order for possible future reference...
  11:51pm
Danne D:

14 days left in the league according to yahoo, EFD
  11:52pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

NICE!
  11:52pm
Danne D:

Thanks for the props, Evan :) And you have done a great job running your team this year :)
  11:54pm
Thierry:

I miss baseball a lot!
  11:55pm
Danne D:

I have to ship out :) Have a good night everyone and thanks for another great show (as always Evan)!

As of this moment, I'm within 7 games of Aharon - which is the closest I've been to to the top since like April I think. Wish me luck :D

Take care Funk Fans!
