Favoriting September 22, 2011: Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label with Bill Adler & Cey Adams
Bill Adler was Def Jam's director of publicity from 1984 to 1990. During this period he worked with Run-DMC, Whodini, Kurtis Blow, LL Cool J, the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Slick Rick, Eric B & Rakim, EPMD, Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, 3rd Bass, De La Soul and many others. Cey Adams started writing graffiti when he was a teenager in Queens, met Russell Simmons in 1984 & became the in-house graphic artist at Def Jam, creating stage backdrops, t-shirt and hat designs, logos, advertisements, etc. He formed "The Drawing Board Graphic Design" with Steve Carr and designed album covers for countless artists. Together, Bill & Cey have just finished their collaborative book; "Def Jam Recordings: The First 25 Years of the Last Great Record Label." Fix the static on your boombox and learn a little lesson from two crucial figures in the hip-hop world.
