Listener comments!

  12:19am
T-Zero:

Evening, Joe McGasko. With the first song was wondering if spurs or a Buck Rogers outfit would be required for tonight's show, but guess not. ;-)
  12:20am
Joe McG:

Hey, T-Zero! I don't think either choice would necessarily be a bad one!
  12:24am
KC:

sounds kinky to me.
  12:28am
Joe McG:

Welcome to the basement, KC.
  12:31am
KC:

  12:36am
Joe McG:

Wow, hey Carmichael! Rarely see you around these parts!
  12:37am
Carmichael:

Ya, family's out acting crazy. Time to drink beer and fiddle with the volume.
  12:41am
cheri:

or maybe some weird tracks instead,,huh joe?
  12:43am
yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

  12:44am
Carmichael:

Hi Yair!
  12:48am
Joe McG:

  12:50am

cheri:

  1:10am
Carmichael:

Now I need to know about Candle. The internet is void of such a group or person. An actual "basement" record.
  1:12am
Joe McG:

@Carmichael: They're kind of mysterious! Don't recognize any of the players. They're on the same label as the Chesapeake Jukebox Band, so maybe they're also midwesterners with a Brit jones.
  1:15am
T-Zero:

According to Wicki: "Candle is a Christian band that is best known for their Agapeland related children's albums Music Machine and Bullfrogs and Butterflies. They recorded children's albums for Sparrow Records' Birdwing branch." And were nominated for a Grammy.
  1:16am
Joe McG:

Can it be the same Candle? Most of the songs written by Jeffrey David Hooven and Robert Verne.
  1:17am
Noah:

New Beginnings, such a perfectly titled album! Hi Joe!
  1:17am
cheri:

joe..won't you please play something for me?? have a great week
  1:18am
T-Zero:

I have no idea. That was the only reference to a band named Candle I could find in a series of LA Times cited references.
  1:19am
Joe McG:

Hey, Noah! Wow, congrats on a beautiful finale the other day! Hey, look, everybody: It's Noah!!
  1:19am
T-Zero:

Heh, none of the Times cited references could be found to see if they gave more info.
  1:21am
Joe McG:

@T-Zero: They don't seem overtly Christian, which is why I'm not sure about it.
  1:22am
T-Zero:

Joe, yeah, I think it must not be the same group because there's no mention of Hooven or Verne on any of the album credits.
  1:24am
Noah:

Great show! Listening with the wife down in Nashville. AND THANK YOU!
  1:25am
Joe McG:

You already there??? Holy mackerel! Hope you had an easy trip down and things are coming together....
  1:28am
T-Zero:

Not that it's any of my business, but why Nashville? Since you say "down in", is that Tennessee?
  1:36am
cheri:

i don't know if you're interested joe..but you're one of my favorite fmu dee jays,,,
  1:41am
Joe McG:

I'm sure hundreds of others share your opinion, cheri.
  2:11am
yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Great 45's man. Helped me through the boring mission of jogging
  2:12am
T-Zero:

Bingo, bango, bongo, nothing can go wronggo... Should be an interesting Mary Wing.
  2:15am
cheri:

since halloween is just around the corner joe,,,will you be having a halloween show? just wondering,
  2:16am
Joe D.:

great show McG. Temptations forever!
  2:18am
Joe McG:

Hey, Duffy! How's it going? Yeah, yesterday the Tempts carried the day, that's for sure! @cheri: Halloween weekend is Singles Going Steady week, so I'll be playing 45s only. I don't think I have enough scary ones for 3 hours!
  2:20am
Joe D.:

wow how bout this Norma Jenkins! EO Rare Groove! Going for a nice $$$ on discogs...
  2:21am
Joe McG:

Is it really? I'm not surprised. The only thing I'm surprised about is that it's in the basement!
  2:23am
Joe D.:

old bin! sticky note - "This record is from East Orange and fantastic"
  2:25am
Joe McG:

I think you may have somethin' there, Duff. The local angle!
  2:27am
Joe D.:

I'm all about it. Also:

Report to the Commissioner is a 1974 crime drama film starring Michael Moriarty and based on a 1972 book by James Mills. The story involves a rookie cop in the New York City Police Department who is assigned a special missing person case but in fact is meant to be a wild-goose chase to back up an undercover female police officer, who is involved in a deadly accidentally shooting.
The film was directed by Milton Katselas and features a musical score by Elmer Bernstein. Richard Gere made his screen debut with a minor supporting role in this film as a pimp.
  2:28am
Joe McG:

Sounds good! Have you seen it? Richard Gere was born to play pimps.
  2:30am
Joe McG:

Come to think of it, I think this played at Film Forum last month!
  2:33am
Joe D.:

it's got Bob Balaban in it!
  2:33am
Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe & friends. Looks like who the .... kinda show.
  2:34am
Joe McG:

@Brian: More like a "what the @!#*" kind of show.
  2:36am
Brian in UK:

Just put another rock on the cairn, if you get my metaphor.
  2:38am
Joe McG:

@Brian: Yeah, it means that if Bob Balaban is in it, it's got to be good!
  2:44am
Brian in UK:

You've lost me Joe.

Donovan song? you are finding those difficult 2/3/4th albums?
  2:45am
Joe McG:

You've lost ME, Brian! Wha?
  2:47am
T-Zero:

Joe, at 2:38, did you mean that to go to JoeD?
  2:47am
Brian in UK:

I just pledged that was my metaphor. Might go back to bed. Who's Bob Balaban?
Celebrating our twins girls 25th birthday yesterday. Bit slow.
  2:49am
Joe McG:

Wow, thanks for pledging, Brian! I hope I get a few more before the end of the month. I'm not off to such a hot start.
  2:55am
Brian in UK:

Thanks T-Zero.
  2:56am
Brian in UK:

It's going to be a long day. Byeeee.
  2:57am
Joe McG:

Thanks for listening, all. Hope you have a great weekend (and Columbus Day, if it applies). See you next time, as the Lindisfarne goes....
  2:59am
T-Zero:

Our plesasure, Joe McG. Enjoyed the show. You take care.
  11:24pm
Holly in NC:
