  3:04pm
Looms:

Hi HallowScott!
  3:04pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Chris, I think Clay Pigeon beat you to it at Sunday's record fair!
  3:04pm
Dead Haunted Eyes:

I didn't have any Halloween spirit this year and then I went to a punk show/costume party on Friday and got wasted and now I have Halloween spirit. the end.
  3:05pm
bryce:

neptune :)
  3:07pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

DHE: I didn't have any Hallowe'en spirit either until last night when I got food poisoning and had this really long dream about shopping for clothes at Alexander McQueen's atelier, but it was 1984 (the year, not the book). The clothes were so strange they might as well have been costumes and I loved them all. So yeah, Happy Hallowe'en!

  3:12pm
Dead Haunted Eyes:

  3:14pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

DHE: Apparently. Gastric distress = fun dreams?
  3:14pm
Doug S.:

Why, I just DL'd Battiato's "Sulle Corde di Aries" yesterday!
  3:15pm
Sourveins:

Nuthin' says luvin'like a gastral intestinal disruption
  3:19pm
Sourveins:

Does anyone know whatever happened to Kark Prehoda, the great (and underrated) lead guitarist for The Dream Syndicate?
  3:20pm
Sourveins:

Correction. Karl Prehoda
  3:21pm
chris:

Wendy: nice to read your comments about getting food poisoning but i already heard someone talk about that yesterday!
  3:23pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Chris, was it Clay Pigeon?
  3:25pm
andymorphic:

wasn't David Roback was the dream syndicate guitar guy? he went on to do opal....fantastic band
  3:26pm
jaycjay:

Karl Precoda. Last I heard, he was a professor in (I think) the theater department at Virginia Tech.
  3:27pm
andymorphic:

my mistake
  3:27pm
Scott W:

Steve Wynn is Dream Syndicate guy; Kendra Smith was bass player, she went on to Opal. Karl Precoda was early amazing Dream Syndicate gtr player. Hi everyone!! Happy happy Halloweeeeeeenie!
  3:27pm
Looms:

Bene Gesserit! :)
  3:28pm
jaycjay:

Ah, teaching theater-related stuff, but in the sociology department:

  3:28pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Happy eve of Holy day holiday!
  3:29pm
BSI:

Belated thanks for the Franco Battiato. Haven't heard that LP in a pig's age.
  3:32pm
Chris from DC:

I got to see Karl Precoda to "Halloween" with Yo La Tengo a few years back when he was touring with Last Days of May. Totally great.
  3:34pm
evan in montreal:

miss pussycat & quintron- awesome! saw this live in '96!
  3:37pm
Robert:

This sounds like a remake of a Judson Fountain radio drammer.
  3:52pm
Ike:

The "upcoming fill-in programs" page indicates that my worst musical nightmare is filling in for Dan B. tonight. Does that give you enough of a clue? ;)
  3:52pm
Scott W:

oh, I guess that means a full 6 hours, huh ike?
  3:53pm
Dave B:

I think benzedrine should be higher up than 3rd tier:

  3:54pm
Scott W:

oh the indignity! I got my goal lowered some so it could be attainable! Y'all gonna take me over the top today? Shock & Awetober ends today, please show some love for FMU and my show and toss some scratch this way to the tune of like $300 or so, cumulative, thankee!
  3:59pm
BSI:

@Ike: I could listen to six hours of him doing the Corpulent Britisher. THAT would be a treat wrapped in sweet hellfire. I'd pledge a hundred more times to make that happen.
  4:10pm
BSI:

whoa; 100% achieved!
  4:17pm
fun cakes:

fab diamonds, yes
  4:17pm
Scott W:

whoah, hey thanks everyone!
  4:27pm
Mike East:

Joe Frank was the SHIT! That made my Friday - Hell, it made my October
  4:32pm
Carmichael:

Hi Scott, hi commenters, hi wonderful music.
  4:32pm
Ike:

@BSI: Is that one of his characters? I like those. But he doesn't do those in multi-hour fill-ins, or not that I've heard.
  4:38pm
Ike:

Ack! I'm having an epiphany. I rescind all previous criticisms. Of anyone, anything, and everything. I now love everybody, all the time, forever. And especially Felix Kubin & Mense Recents. OK?
  4:43pm
Cecile:

Karl Precoda was in a band called The Last Days of May for a while. (named after a BOC song - he loved BOC, that's why Sandy Pearlman produced the 2nd Syndicate album.)
  4:44pm
Cecile:

and, hi Scott.
  4:45pm
Scott W:

hola Cecile!
  4:47pm
Cecile:

I saw The Dream Syndicate once - an abbrieviated set opening for REM. They were not so great that night, no matter how many people at that show go back and rewrite the past. They got booed offstage.

They had played a club show earlier that year that I missed but even my picky friends said they were amazing.
  4:47pm
BSI:

@Ike 4:32- yessir. A particularly surreal character. I assume it takes more energy & time to prepare those non-music shows, thus not so much for the fill-ins.
  4:47pm
Greg:

Love this!
  4:48pm
BSI:

A Phlebotomist Writes:

Take care tonight everyone it's a graveyard out there.
Congratulations Scott on your fluctuating target, there is medication available.
  4:56pm
Cecile:

hysterical, BSI. Who did that?
  4:59pm
BSI:

Cecile: no idea who's behind that one. I found it ages ago and need to keep watching it regularly... like taking a vitamin... or something...
  5:01pm
Carmichael:

Scott, this sounds like castrato music. Which may or may not be a compliment to Bird.
  5:05pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Scott & chums, wot no Pierrot Lunaire?
  5:28pm
Cecile:

you sound a little throaty there, Scott. Hope you're not fighting a cold...
  5:30pm
Scott W:

thanks Cecile! No, just feeling the ravages of Shock & Awetober on the throat, and nothing else. Well, and the sorely neglected sleep bone
  5:41pm
Cecile:

that's good, but rest up! I know when I'm run down, the germ beasties make hay out of my immune system.
  5:47pm
Cecile:

LOVE Trentemoeller...who is the vocalist?
  5:49pm
Scott W:

I dunno! not much info on this promo, but it seems like all remixes
  5:49pm
Cecile:

is it new? is there a title for the collection...?
  5:51pm
Scott W:

yeah it's brand new, on In My Room
  5:57pm
Cecile:

nice, i really like his sound - danceable, but very textured, and always arresting
  6:00pm
Cecile:

yay! Ratatat!
