Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Favoriting November 10, 2011: RETURN TO ZUCCOTTI PARK

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

Artist Track Album Label Year Format Comments
For this episode, I re-visited Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan to check-in on the nascent Occupy Wall Street encampment. This show was taped on Tues., November 8th, 2011.

It feels good to follow this 'happening.'

I'm glad you're here. Sorry about the skip during Home On The Range. Love to you all ...

Opening Salvo
Note: The opening interview cuts-in roughly because, moments before deadline, I discovered that an excerpt from The Sandpipers, 'Guantanamera' had been digitally inserted directly on top of the Opening Salvo. Outside my window, a Grackle lights briefly on the sill, twitching nervously, eyeing me with a cocked head. A little gust of wind. He is gone.

Hello

Matt from Springfield:

Hi Clay!
A rarity, your playlist is open early, and Fabio's is the one that hasn't closed out yet! Duelling comment boards again?

  6:08pm
kata:

hi Clay, and all.. Sun still shining here in Oregon. Glad you're keeping on the occupy tip..
  6:08pm
dale:

evening clay.. don't know why no one occupied wall street back in 2009 when bailouts and cash for clunker baloney started. but the movement suffers from drum circle hippy image. they need to demand an audience with policy makers.
  6:09pm
Clay:

Thanks Kata. Hope life is happy in Oregon!
  6:09pm
kata:

I hope the occupiers can avoid a Lord of the Flies moment..
  6:10pm
Clay:

They're figuring it out, Dale. Hope you are well, sir.

david:

lol, "affordable health care really scares me"
  6:11pm
Clay:

That made me laugh, too, David.
  6:12pm
glenn:

nonsense. that's just fucking bullshit. the canadian health care is fantastic. yet another uninformed right wing american retard who should just shut the fuck up.
  6:12pm
Matt from Springfield:

At least some Tea Partiers have found common ground and understanding with OWS. This couple isn't entirely free from irrational fears, but at least they seem independent of the greater Tea Party movement.
  6:13pm
dale:

my sister lives in bush country (FLA) and she was terrified of an obama healthcare plan. she could care less that i can't afford helath insurance for myself, as long as she didn't have to chip in more for the coverage her husband gets working for bank of america.

hello from rainy vermont peoples!
  6:21pm
dale:

despite any truth communist literature might hold, it's distribution is ammunition for detractors to undermine the whole movement. republicans will have a field day with it.
  6:22pm
Clay:

Love Vermont, Cosmo! Stowe is my all-time fave. Was married there. Bought a thrift store guitar in Putney.

No Matt. In Stowe.

PS- Yes, Christmas and New Years are all about the suffering GIs in the several places they work for money, in a voluntary kinda way. And don't you dare eat Thanksgiving without praying for those defenders of your way of life (undefined here) who volunteered for lifetime benefits and combat pay to fly those nice drones and pay whores in faraway lands!
Upon returning soon, they will require job training. I hope not as cab drivers, because most of us now enjoy no government subsidies... we also lack the kill skills they have acquired abroad and doubt they can distinguish us from the "Hadjis" of their PTS nightmare worlds. Best to take the subway for awhile, dear listeners!
