Bill Mac:

Morning MK! Hope all is well.
  3:11am
Martyn:

Good morning Bill and all. Great start to the show.
It feels like 0310 here but no, its 0810.
  3:11am
Marmalade Kitty:

All good, thanks! How was your holiday?
  3:12am
Marmalade Kitty:

I felt that too, Martyn, been up since 6am
  3:13am
Bill Mac:

Really nice, thanks, and drae I say it.... EARNED!!! I worked a whole three days this week, and got another offer on top of that... when it rains it pours... BTW, it is 310 somewhere... here to be exact... hiya Martyn!
  3:15am
Marmalade Kitty:

nice one Bill!
  3:16am
Brian in UK:

Mornin' folks. looks half decent today following yesterdays pageant of sunshine.
Bill, happy for you that things are looking up.
  3:16am
Bill Mac:

How did everyone else's week go? Did I miss anything?
  3:18am
Bill Mac:

Thanks Brian... as long as I can cope with driving 100 miles a day I'll be fine. It's through what I like to call "horse country" and pretty close to the shore, so that's easy to take.
  3:20am
Marmalade Kitty:

imagine going to work on horse back!
  3:21am
Bill Mac:

Please.... I got no ass to begin with.... or should I say horse?
  3:25am
Marmalade Kitty:

this is great
  3:26am
Brian in UK:

Gotta fly & walk the dog. He's taken to rolling in dead things & cack this week more than usual.
  3:26am
Marmalade Kitty:

breakfast time here! :)
  3:31am
Bill Mac:

Lovely Brian.... that's what pets are for - top do all the things we wanna do... but can't... nice segway MK!
  3:52am
alberto:

the girl from ipanema was distracting me to be good...too bad...i was born bad, wanna hit?
  3:56am
Emile:

Hey Bill, welcome back. PGB kept your seat warm for you.
  4:02am
alberto:

i love you!!!!
  4:05am
Marmalade Kitty:

hello! I was just about to say, guitar was vey magic bandesque. whole different experience with Deutsch vocal
  4:08am
Bill Mac:

I'm still reading the Beefheart book, which is just as much an autobiography about the Beefheart drummer. I'm sure he'll touch on his other projects outside of Beefheart, who was by all account, pretty out of his mind at times
  4:09am
Marmalade Kitty:

was that an ex magic band member in there?
  4:09am
Bill Mac:

Morning to Alberto and Emile!
  4:11am
Stanley:

Good morning Bill, hi everyone. Ooo, David Bowie sounding a lot more sophisticated than I remember. Maybe I should be playing these old albums a bit more often.
  4:12am
Marmalade Kitty:

Whats the book called? I'll have to check it out..
  4:15am
Bill Mac:

No but the vocalist/drummer from that other band was in Crazy backwards Alphabet with John French (aka Drumbo). The book is called "Beefheart: Through the Eyes of Magic". They're are more than a few typos and the story is all over the place, but it's without a doubt the best reference available about the Beef
  4:17am
Stanley:

Is that what Daevid Allen is up to now. Sounds like he can't shake the ol' Gong influence judging whats going on in the background. I like it though.
  4:20am
Bill Mac:

Hey Stanley, you almost sqeazed by there.... yeah that Bowie album wasn't a favorite of mine when it came out but I needed to hear that song when I came in tonight. The Daevid Allen thing was done with Kramer, who also ended up passing through Gongs ranks
  4:22am
Marmalade Kitty:

on Wiki it says Bowies 1973 album alladin sane followed the break through album -"Ziggy".. I would have thought the man who sold the world or Hunky Dory were breakthrough? I've only heard those two, so whatwould I know :) So many albums to check out.. so little time!
  4:22am
alberto:

i've been stumbling through this japanese painting...but my head is in nagasaki
  4:26am
Bill Mac:

Those were huge albums but he went international with Ziggy. I remember that happening. Weird... he and Alice Cooper were considered the gold standard back in 72
  4:28am
Stanley:

MK you haven't heard Ziggy Stardust? That album was pretty much 'my' breakthrough album when i was a kid. All together now "Now Ziggy really sang, screwed up eyes and screwed down hairdo. Like some cat from Japan"
  4:31am
Marmalade Kitty:

I've heard the track, but not the entire album. I mean to get it before I die ;)
  4:33am
pierre:

Bonjour everyone !
Bnojour M. MAc
  4:33am
alberto:

thanx for the wild flag!!...this song has been stuck in my head since nardwar
  4:33am
Stanley:

Nice one Kitty. I don't know about other listeners but my music listening time, nowadays is almost exclusively WFMU, live or archives. Except when I'm in the car. Perhaps I should go for more drives.
  4:34am
Marmalade Kitty:

John French was booted out of the band; literally down a flight of stairs o.O
  4:34am
Bill Mac:

Hellllllooooo Pierre! Interesting story about that Bowie. He initially wanted to give Mott the Hoople Suffragette City, but ended up tossing them "All the Young Dudes" instead.
  4:35am
Bill Mac:

.... and it wasn't the first time.... he kept going back.
  4:41am
Emile:

Bring on the Beach Boys goodies, Bill...
  4:43am
alberto:

mmmm...shimmy disc
  4:46am
Emile:

Totally agree with you about Gong, Bill. Some of But I do like the Acid Motherhood record...and the NY Gong CD...
  4:48am
Marmalade Kitty:

:) lol..! crazy indeedy!
  4:51am
Bill Mac:

Do any of them still play out in Europe?
  4:58am
Marmalade Kitty:

I listen to and appreciate so much music of all possible creations but my background research is usually poor and lazy.. to the point of not even being able to remember lyrics, the names of songs never mind the artists themselves!? there are so many fascinating stories behind the music, I need to make more of an effort generally! WFMU is fantastic for all of this :)
  5:00am
Marmalade Kitty:

If.. I love this, haven't heard this for donkeys!
  5:10am
Stanley:

Bill, I saw Zappa's son in concert last week. It was a bit of a weird experience and quite a rowdy audience. Highlight was having a film projected behind the band of the man himself playing the guitar along with the live band. Sounds strange but it was quite moving to see Frank at perhaps the peak of his powers in around '74 and looking so young and fit. With his shirt off, of course.
  5:22am
Bill Mac:

Frank was something for sure.... I got to see him a couple times back in the day... didn't fully realize what a legend he was till later of course
  5:49am
Stanley:

We don't know what we've got until its gone.....
  5:49am
Bill Mac:

Could not agree with you more Stan
  5:49am
Martyn:

Well put Stanley.
  5:59am
Stanley:

Once again, great show Bill. Have a good weekend everybody.
  5:59am
Martyn:

Great show today Bill, thanks. Have a good week, you and all.
  6:00am
Bill Mac:

Bye folks!!!!
