Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Favoriting December 1, 2011: Preoccupied With Occupy - Credit Suisse and Protesting Obama

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

Artist Track Album Label Year Format Comments
This episode of the Dusty Show concerns two separate OWS protests. I headed to Credit Suisse at 24th and Madison in Manhattan (6:30 am, Weds. Nov 30th, 2011) where Aviation Week and Credit Suisse were holding their 17th annual Aerospace & Defense Finance Conference. According to OccupyWallStreet.org, "These war profiteers export death in the name of defense."

A later rally against militarism occurred later that afternoon. OWS protestors marched from MAdison Square Park, through Times Square to 51st Street and 7th Avenue, where they awaited President Obama's passing motorcade. The President was in NYC on a fundraising trip.

There were a few glitches at the beginning of this episode. Actually, do to a DJ error (imagine that!) the first 16 seconds of the show were omitted. My kind friend Liz Berg was nice enough to splice it back in for me, though there is a notable difference in volume levels that occurs (my fault, too). There also seems to be the unexplained drop-out or two, and places where I forgot to dub in a sound when somebody swore.

I guess I should point out that I recorded all of this audio (over 3-hours worth) the day before this show was to air, so I had to edit out a ton of material.

That's it for another Dusty Show. Does anybody read these things? I wonder sometimes. If you read this, email me and say - I read it Clay.

Another Occupy Wall Street Show. Back in September, I never would have imagined I'd have done so many of these. I keep getting drawn back into it, it's so compelling to me. I hope you are still out there listening. Please check in and give me your thoughts. I'd appreciate it. Until next time my friends, thanks for your continued support. You are the 99%. Support your Local OWS. Always Remember ...

And she's right about Medicaid--most doctors won't even take it because it's so paltry; even regular insurance often doesn't pay doctors what they said they would--how much wrangling it takes just to get re-imbursed WHAT THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY YOU.

Great show once again Clay. Best coverage of OWS. Thank you!
  6:57pm

I guess I better wrap it up here for Andy. Also, know that I am a hypocrite as I have some Wall Street investments. Didn't want to give the impression that I am heroic like a lot of these protestors. I am trying to figure all of this out as I go. Much room for improvement. We are the 99%! Always Remember ... Clay
  6:57pm
Pidge:

TY very much Dan!
  6:59pm

Thanks Clay for another fantastic show! Recorded only last night, and already another vivid snapshot of OWS comes to us!

Fantastic reporting again Clay. Thanks.
