Listener comments!

  6:03am
Robin The Fog:

Hurrah! I can actually listen in this week!!!
  6:03am
Dave B:

Hey!
  6:03am
Chuck:

Morning, Robin!
  6:04am
Chuck:

Well, it's morning here anyway...
  6:04am
Dave B:

This is gonna be fun...
  6:05am
Chuck:

Because you get to listen to yourself, Dave?
  6:06am
Robin The Fog:

Good morning all! I was worried that something had happened to the show, but then I realised the clock on my computer was 14 minutes fast...
  6:07am
Chuck:

Gets even more interesting, Robin. This show is pre-recorded, no one is actually in the studio...
  6:08am
Dave B:

I have the accuplaylist control... fingers crossed!
  6:09am
Chuck:

Ah, I was wondering how the play list was being updated with no one there....
  6:09am
Dave B:

... but I'm not gonna get fancy with images...
  6:11am
Chuck:

Does this mean the next step is for WFMU to give you your own show, Dave? hehe...
  6:11am
Robin The Fog:

It's a GHOST show!!!! OOER!
  6:11am
Dave B:

I wouldnt mind a fill in some time.. gotta start small!
  6:12am
Dave B:

Meghan said she's gonna try to check in from Dublin...
  6:13am
Chuck:

What time is it over there now?
  6:14am
Dave B:

I think 11am... GMT 0
  6:15am
Chuck:

Wow, I am surprisingly conscious today. Wonder why....
  6:17am
Dave B:

Well rested?
  6:18am
Chuck:

I must be. Funny that I knew Amy Winehouse died, it was all over the media, but I've never heard any of her songs until now....
  6:22am
pierre:

Bonjour everyone !
Bonjour Dave B, Chuck, Robin the frog…
  6:22am
Dave B:

umlauts added for MORE METAL!

Hey Pierre!
  6:22am
Caryn:

Yay! "Young Ones" performance of this track!
  6:23am
Chuck:

Bonjour to you to, Pierre!
  6:23am
Dave B:

Hey Caryn!
  6:24am
Caryn:

This ep of "The Young Ones" was definitely the most guest-star heavy, what with Fry & Laurie, Emma Thompson, Ben Elton and a whole host of others showing up.
  6:24am
Caryn:

Hi Dave! And all others of course.
  6:25am
Dave B:

\m/ (>_<) \m/
  6:25am
Robin The Fog:

Bonjour Pierre, Chuck and Caryn! It may well be pre-recd but the boxes are being ticked!
  6:25am
Chuck:

Meghan and her "crew"....
  6:26am
Caryn:

Did she bring some of the dead people into the studio with her? No wonder she thought it was best to prerecord...
  6:27am
Robin The Fog:

Wow, you guys are aware of Dr. Who. I thought that was only a British thing...
  6:27am
pierre:

It is fun, to hear this ambiance in the studio, it's pretty alive.
  6:27am
Dave B:

oh, it gets better pierre! we only just started drinking by this point...
  6:28am
Chuck:

And mayhem ensued....
I never miss Dr. Who on BBC America, Robin! Love that show!
  6:28am
Robin The Fog:

Meghan! Could you not say 'died of a heart attack' in such a perky voice?
  6:29am
Jeremy:

Its not dark here, just a bit gray. Hi from London
  6:29am
Robin The Fog:

I used to have a toy dog called 'Cuddly Duddly'. Hopefully I still do, in one of these boxes...
  6:29am
Caryn:

Meghan definitely has news anchor brightness in her voice as she lists the deaths.
  6:30am
Dave B:

Hey Jeremy!
  6:30am
pierre:

@ Dave B : can't wait…
  6:30am
Robin The Fog:

@Chuck The new Dr. Who theme is quite good, but NOTHING tops Delia Derbyshire's original. Oh yes!
  6:31am
Chuck:

Unbelievable how long ago "The Young Ones" was on....
  6:33am
Caryn:

@Chuck: I just glanced through a magazine and saw that Ralph Macchio was 50. I was totally shocked how much time has passed...
  6:33am
Chuck:

Haven't heard the new theme, Robin. BBC America is always a season behind on broadcasting Dr. Who....
  6:34am
Caryn:

Chucck, I think Robin means in comparison from the first, early 60s version. We're already in season 30something of Dr. Who, after all.
  6:35am
Chuck:

That's a bit freaky, Caryn! Macchio is only a year younger than me?!
  6:35am
Andy in Berlin:

Hi everybody! But this show is pre-recorded, yes?
  6:36am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn Exactly! @Chuck Just to be on the safe side: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75V4ClJZME4
  6:37am
Dave B:

I'm not sure how to insert the breaks, and am not gonna futz around trying to figure it out...
  6:37am
Dave B:

Hey Andy - it IS pre-recorded, but I've got the playlist...
  6:38am
Meghan:

Greetings from Howth!!!
  6:38am
Chuck:

Wow, that is cool, Robin! Probably done on one of the first synthesizers ever....
  6:38am
Caryn:

But I do like how, during the Tennant years, they added the tone shift to the theme that used to be played during the old end credits. It wasn't in the opening theme e.g. for Ecclestone, and Tennant, being a major Whovian, was desperate to get that tone shift there. Which does make the theme better.
  6:39am
Robin The Fog:

Meghan! How dark is it?
  6:39am
Dave B:

Howth the vactation going Meghan!
  6:39am
Andy in Berlin:

Hi Meghan!
So no Motorhead Sherwood who died on Christmas.
  6:39am
Meghan:

Not at all!!! Yet at least...
  6:40am
Chuck:

You need to get out of the Howth more often, Meg. hehe...
  6:40am
Caryn:

Hi Meghan! How much Guinness have you drunk so far?
  6:41am
pierre:

Woohoo ! Meghan ! Bonjour !
  6:41am
Robin The Fog:

@Chuck NO!!! Believe it or not, it was made entirely using cut up bits of tape and primitive electronic oscillators! No synthesisers back then! Its basically a piece of 'musique concrete'. Which makes it all the more astonishing!
  6:41am
Dave B:

@Chuck - well played!
  6:42am
Robin The Fog:

And the sound of the TARDIS? A front door key on a broken piano string!!!
  6:42am
Caryn:

The low point for the Who theme and the opening credits was definitely the McCoy years. Man, that annoying sparkly wink at the camera... Ugh.
  6:42am
Robin The Fog:

Sorry everyone, geeking out again...
  6:43am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn It was Bonnie Langford and her polka dots that killed it for me. I can still hear that shriek whenever I get water in my ears....
  6:43am
Chuck:

Even cooler than I thought, Robin....
Who keeps track of how much Guiness one drinks, Caryn?
  6:46am
Caryn:

@Robin: please don't mention frigging Langford... Oy. But no need to worry about geeking out. A full geek-out will only happen once we start discussing the differences between Star Trek's Planet Vulcan and Who's Planet Vulcan.
  6:46am
Dave B:

Guinness is good for you!
  6:46am
Chuck:

Hum, reminds me I have a bit of chocolate stout in the frige....
  6:47am
Chuck:

"Is it time to start drinking yet?"
  6:48am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn Oh, my! I'm afraid that's slightly out of my jurisdiction. Star Trek was always a bit to sleek for me. I like my Sci-Fi slightly bumpy around the edges. I'm all about Garden Shed Futurism!
  6:48am
Caryn:

Guinness is still given to some patients in Yorkshire. Good for your iron levels. Know this since I was the one giving it to them.
  6:49am
Andy in Berlin:

For some, it's always time to start drinking. Over here it's already lunchtime.
  6:49am
Caryn:

@Robin: want to discuss "Blake's 7" then?
  6:50am
Dave B:

Thunderbirds Are Go!
  6:50am
Chuck:

Ah HA! That answers my question for sure, Andy! Bottoms up!
  6:51am
Caryn:

Gotta say, to this day my fave Who anecdote is how Kate O'Mara would encourage Sylvester McCoy to play the spoons on her breasts.
  6:53am
Chuck:

I found it interesting to discover recently that Peter Cushing played Dr. Who in a couple of made for TV movies. Haven't seen either of them...
  6:54am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn I am in awe. If McCoy can do it theres hope for us all. But sadly Blake 7 was slightly before my time. And @Chuck, you haven't missed a damn thing. The Peter Cushing films only end when the Daleks fall through a giant hole in the plot....
  6:54am
Caryn:

Yep, he played the First Doctor. Who was played by William Hartnell on tv. Decent movies, but not as good as the best tv episodes. Bigger production values, though.
  6:55am
Chuck:

Here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0059126/
  6:56am
Chuck:

I was more interested how Cushing played the character than anything else...
  6:57am
Caryn:

@Robin: well, B7 was way before my time, too. But thanks to DVDs, they are available for us younger folks. I'd really recommend them to all. Made on a tiny budget, but some of the best, snarkiest writing ever.
  6:58am
Chuck:

John Mellon Cougarcamp....
  7:00am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn Er, you're not a Mystery Science Theatre fan by any chance, are you?
  7:01am
Caryn:

Well, the first Doctor was always a little paternal and very normal compared to the later Doctors. Of course, the whole "time lord" thing hadn't been brought up yet, so he was a much more normal character in general. Cushing played him very straight, and paternal. Slightly more action man than Hartnell.
  7:02am
Caryn:

@Robin: actually, I've only ever seen the MST movie (which, apparently, is not the best). I'm kinda interested in seeing the rest, though. So maybe I'm a potential fan?
  7:04am
Chuck:

Did he at least have his "sonic screwdriver", Caryn?
  7:04am
Mamaade kitty:

Good morning!
  7:05am
Marmalade kitty:

Oops
  7:05am
Dave B:

morning MK!
  7:05am
Chuck:

Good day to you too, MKitty!
  7:06am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn If you love a good snark and some awesome ancient sci-fi, I can recommend nothing better than their 'Prince Of Space' episode, which is available online for free at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6356904110759435418 I went to see it at an all-nighter and thought I was going to pass out laughing :-D
  7:06am
Caryn:

@Chuck: well, the sonic screwdriver was only introduced in 1968 with the Second Doctor, so I don't think so, sorry.
  7:07am
Caryn:

@Robin: thanks, will check it out.
  7:08am
Dave B:

i found it funny, looking back at some of the tracks played that many of them could relate to the fact that people have died...
  7:08am
Chuck:

I just like fun gizmos. To bad it didn't come along until later....
  7:12am
Caryn:

Actually, the sonic screwdriver has been used somewhat erratically. The third Doctor rarely used it, as did the fifth. In 1982 it was taken out of the series completely, and stayed gone until 1996. They've really embraced it in the new series, so at least we get to enjoy it now.
  7:14am
Chuck:

Wow, you really are a "Who" fan, Caryn! They have run the show so erratically in the states that it would have been hard for me to keep track of all those facts....
  7:16am
Robin The Fog:

You certainly are, Caryn. I should introduce you to my friend Alex. You combined expertise would probably create a black hole!
  7:17am
Dave B:

Hey, if anyone has any suggestions for next week's show... "NEW" is the theme, and should be in the title... Share 'em here or on the facebook page!
  7:18am
Caryn:

@Chuck: guilty as charged. Here's a beloved Who quote from the Douglas Adams-penned "City of Death" story (great story and highly recommended even for new fans, Chuck):
-He's not as stupid as he looks.
-My dear, nobody could be as stupid as he looks.
  7:19am
Chuck:

LOL, Caryn! Now I have to wait for an instance that I can use that myself!
  7:19am
Dave in PA:

That sounds like that Blood Sweat and Tears guy...
  7:19am
mohawkdave!:

Hello All! Happy New Year in advance!! =:)
  7:19am
Marmalade kitty:

The Tardis was running more smoothly by 1982 with Peter Davies!
  7:22am
Caryn:

And some words of wisdom from the Doctor:
-Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority. (from The Wheel in Space)
-There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes. (from Robot)
  7:22am
Chuck:

Reminds me that I'd like to get to making my own model of the Tardis, MKitty. (Not full size, of course!) With lights and sound too! Just because I like making junk like that....
  7:23am
Dave B:

Hey Dave in PA and mohawkdave!
  7:25am
Caryn:

And time for the Doctor to get poetic (even in the McCoy years, they did some things right):
"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea is asleep and the rivers dream; people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do."
  7:25am
Dave in PA:

Haree Muskee was NOT David Clayton-Thomas, apparently...
  7:26am
Dave in PA:

Moin Dave B, w gehts Digge?
  7:27am
Chuck:

I'm guessing, of course, but you've got books on Dr. Who, don't you, Caryn?
  7:27am
:(:

cmon guys, stop act like idiots, just play music. Realy annoying laughing.
  7:28am
Chuck:

Yes, where is Meghan? She was here a short while ago...
  7:28am
Dave in PA:

Kitty Wells: thats a deep subject
  7:29am
Chuck:

Ah, alcohol....
  7:31am
Caryn:

Some more wise words from the Doctor:
"We're all basically primeval slime with ideas above its station."
"What's the use of a good quotation if you can't change it?"
"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."
  7:31am
Dave in PA:

She was euthanized for being cross-eyed?? Only in China...
  7:32am
pierre:

Dave Be Back !
  7:32am
Caryn:

@Chuck: guilty as charged, though these are actually from my "Famous scifi quotes" book. Maybe I should put up some Blake's 7 to encourage people to watch it...
  7:33am
Marmalade kitty:

Where is Meghan? In Ireland?
  7:33am
Chuck:

At last report, MKitty...
  7:33am
Dave B:

She is Marmalade Kitty... Howth at the moment.
  7:35am
Chuck:

Don't know if Blake's 7 ever ran in this country, Caryn. Now you've got me interested already. I'm a total sci-fi fan. Well, GOOD sci-fi anyway...
  7:36am
Marmalade kitty:

They started early! And why not? Sounds like they're having fun!
  7:36am
Chuck:

Wait! Who the hell from Weezer died, DB?!
  7:37am
Elwyn:

Hey everyone!
  7:37am
Dave B:

I can't remember Chuck... STAY TUNED!
  7:38am
Chuck:

Good day, Elwyn! Just in time to chime in on a sci-fi discussion...
  7:38am
Dave B:

ELWYN!

(Marmalade Kitty - this was recorded last Wednesday night)
  7:38am
Caryn:

Both Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9 were based to a large extent on Blake's 7, basically the idea of a having a group of main characters that really do not get along very well. And a bleaker view of scifi in general. Basic story is of a group of escaped political and other prisoners who band together to fight the oppressive dictatorship they live under.
  7:39am
pierre:

@ Chuck : i think it's Mikey Welsh, their former bass player.
  7:40am
Chuck:

Whoa! I have the entire Babylon 5 series on DVD, Caryn. I named my cat after the character G'Kar. I think I will HAVE to see some Blake's 7 now!
  7:41am
Elwyn:

Heh. Wasn't DS9 ripped off from B5? Geez I hated DS9 with a passion.
  7:42am
Dave B:

this sone needs more KEYTAR!
  7:43am
DPRK:

Will Meghan honor dear beloved late leader Kim Jung Il? He wrote many wonderful operas.
  7:44am
Dave B:

sone = song...
  7:44am
Caryn:

The show had great writing, but is especially remembered for the bitchy wordplay between the main cast. Some examples:
-I don't believe in suicide. It stunts your growth.
*
-Blake, in the unlikely event that we survive, I'm finished. Staying with you requires a degree of stupidity of which I no longer feel capable.
-Now you're just being modest.
*
-I'm entitled to my opinion.
-It is your assumption that we are entitled to it as well that is irritating.
*
-My experience with aliens hasn't exactly been warming.
-Your experiences with humans haven't been particularly glowing either.
  7:46am
Chuck:

What is the title of this book, Caryn? I must have a copy for myself! It's hilarious!
  7:47am
Caryn:

And I think to this day, Blake's 7 has the most famous (and bleak) ending of any scifi series ever. The endings of shows tend to be kinda forgettable. Only Twin Peaks' "Where's Annie?" shot and the explosion of B5 are close to the Blake's 7 ending.
  7:47am
Chuck:

Ah, Fleetwood Mac, back when they were actually good...
  7:47am
Dan B From Upstate:

Damn. As usual, I'm too late for the Doctor Who discussion. Always meant to watch Blake's 7.
  7:48am
Robin The Fog:

@ Caryn Don't tell me how Twin Peaks ends!!! My flatmate hasn't lent me the second season box set yet!!!
  7:49am
Caryn:

Oh, Chuck, the book was actually a 2004 subscribers' gift from a scifi magazine, so don't think it's available. But I'm sure the quotes are easily found on imdb or google.
@Robin: I wouldn't dream of it! No spoilers here.
  7:50am
Chuck:

Actually, one of the most interesting things I thought about B5 was that it was only intended to run for 5 years. That's unheard of in television. Usually TV likes to milk (or bleed) a series for as long as it can....
  7:50am
Elwyn:

@Caryn: Did you feel cheated when Sheridan survived his encounter on Z'hudum (or however you spell it - am too lazy to google it)?
  7:52am
Dave B:

Hey Dan B from Upstate, :( and DPRK
  7:54am
Caryn:

@Elwyn: kinda, but I could've lived with that. It was the whole "Get the hell out of our galaxy" bit that annoyed the heck out of me. And the general lack of cohesion in season 5, as they tried to put something together (since they thought the studio was gonna cancel them after season 4, so they stuffed most of the "war of the shadows" storyline into season 4, leaving almost nothing for season 5).
  7:56am
Chuck:

I see what quotes I can find, Caryn, thanks! Love wry sarcastic wit!
  7:58am
Robin The Fog:

I have never felt more sober in my life than I do now!!!
  7:58am
Dave in PA:

Has there been a day on planet earth when nobody died - just one day? It is possible, although highly unlikely.
  7:58am
Caryn:

Well, the other alternative is just to check out the series, Chuck! Easiest way to enjoy the wit.
  7:58am
Chuck:

They did cancel it on the network it was on originally, Caryn. (Warner Brothers, I think) I took another network picking it up to finish the 5 year run. Must have been disorienting...
  8:00am
Chuck:

Only a trip in "The Heart of Gold" will tell, Dave in PA....
  8:00am
Caryn:

Yep, Chuck. That they did. Although the fact that some episodes were written in like a day, because a hotel maid accidentally threw out a couple of entire scripts, is also to blame for some of the lameness of season 5.
  8:01am
Elwyn:

Nitpick:
Frankenstein's MONSTER was possibly undead
Frankenstein was human so if he got bitten by a zombie in a sequel, he'd become undead.

@Caryn: Season 5 wasn't too bad. Can't remember much except that hot redhead played by Patricia Tallman got laid. I met Ms Tallman this year at a convention. Coincidentally, she was in some film featuring the undead (too lazy to google but guessing Night of the Living Dead remake or something)
  8:02am
Brian in UK:

Paul Leka produced Harry Chapin?
  8:03am
Chuck:

Yes, Elwyn, she did do a remake of "Night of the Living Dead". I've seen it and it was pretty good!
  8:05am
ORAC:

You have done well Caryn. Yes, it is I.
  8:06am
Chuck:

OMG, I'm sort of glad that I wasn't there for this recording session. You guys are completely diseased, DB!
  8:07am
Caryn:

Hi, ORAC. Nice to know you're fine.
@Chuck: Blake's 7 quotes to be perused: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Blake's_7
  8:08am
Marmalade kitty:

Oh yes, the penis guy? Oh, it doesn't matter it's web only..lol!
  8:09am
Caryn:

Oh man, I remember when this came out...
  8:09am
Elwyn:

Fuck I hated this song.
  8:09am
Caryn:

I'm totally enjoying the recording session. Could they just do this every couple of weeks?
  8:10am
Chuck:

Thanks, Caryn!
It was only a matter of time before male genitals were brought up, MKitty. Look at our "cast of characters"....
  8:10am
Dave B:

It's only 4 minutes long Elwyn... hang in there.
  8:12am
Caryn:

Say, ORAC, any sign of Zen around?
  8:12am
Dave B:

@Caryn - if we could start drinking @ 6am!
  8:13am
Caryn:

Oh, Chuck, just remembered that some of the Blake's 7 box sets come with model ships, so with your love of gadgetry, you might enjoy that.
  8:13am
Chuck:

Who says you can't, Dave?
  8:14am
listener james from westwood:

just tuned in to hear the open of "pac-man fever." this album was the first record I ever bought as a kid. (the 2nd was weird al's first record.)
  8:14am
Caryn:

@Dave: well, you could pre-record an ep once a month... And hell, it's cocktail hour somewhere on the planet all the time, so you could just start drinking early.
  8:14am
Chuck:

I'll have a look into that, Caryn! Toys are always fun!!
  8:14am
Robin The Fog:

@Caryn and Chuck I think I might have an LP of Blake 7 and affiliated Sound FX somewhere. Will have to dig it out for you...
  8:14am
Dave B:

Welcome listener james!
  8:15am
Dave B:

@Caryn - perhaps Meghan will take you up on that suggestion. I know I'm ready willing and able to participate!
  8:16am
Chuck:

By all means, Robin!
  8:18am
das:

Pac Man died? Is Dig Dug ok?
  8:18am
Chuck:

  8:19am
Dave B:

@das - Dig Dug got an extra life...
  8:19am
Robin The Fog:

Linda Lovelace:

  8:24am
Robin The Fog:

Room is currently all over the shop, but once I've got my setup back online, I'll dub 'em off for you both. Send your emails to mine!
  8:24am
Chuck:

Well played, DB (aka Linda Lovelace)!
  8:26am
Chuck:

We'll need Meghan to set that bit up, Robin. I'll let her know...
  8:26am
ORAC:

@Caryn, well you know that already don't you! That smartarse Zen is so up itself that talk is quite unnecessary. Thank you very much.
  8:26am
Andy in Berlin:

I just read that Cheetah the Chimp from Tarzan died. That dude lived a long life!

  8:26am
Dave B:

wasn't me Chuck! @ Robin, Meghan will need to do the email exchanges when she gets back and reads thru the comments..
  8:28am
Robin The Fog:

Right on. But if you get stuck in the meantime, email robinthefog@gmail.com. But give me a few days, I've got about two thousand sound fx records here and they're still on the floor...
  8:28am
Brian in UK:

Rockers. Best soundtrack ever? Discuss.
  8:28am
Chuck:

Wow, I don't think I've ever had this many open tabs on my browser ever. It's gonna be an entertaining morning!
  8:30am
Chuck:

I'll be in touch then, Robin. Thanks for being brave enough to give your email address here. Hope that doesn't come back to bite you...
  8:31am
Dave B:

  8:33am
mohawkdave!:

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOO......Bush Tetras! I was lucky enough to catch them on the Bow Wow Wow reunion tour in (?) '97. My god, what could have happened in this "short" amount of time!
  8:34am
Caryn:

@Robin: thanks, will be in touch.
I wonder if we could get to 300 if we really didn't care what nonsense we put up?
  8:34am
Chuck:

Why count, Dave? Did you count how many beers you had while recording the show? Nuff said!
  8:35am
Chuck:

Ha! It's been nonsense from the start, Caryn! Don't ya love it!
  8:35am
Dave B:

I think I had about 6...
  8:35am
Cheri Pi:

Good Morning Dave B!
  8:36am
mohawkdave!:

................when you stopped counting, Dave B!
  8:36am
Chuck:

You hadn't drunk enough then, Dave. You still remember!
  8:36am
Robin The Fog:

@Chuck While I'm still feeling brave I might as well plug my website too! http://robinthefog.com. I'd welcome a few folk biting on that!
  8:38am
Robin The Fog:

PS I think we have Babylon 5 to thank for the large amount of activity on this forum!
  8:38am
Chuck:

And yet another tab opens on my browser...
Thanks, Robin!
  8:39am
Robin The Fog:

My pleasure. It's not usually as racy as you might assume from the opening post....
  8:40am
Caryn:

Let's add to the comment count with one of my fave Blake's 7 discussions:
-Be polite and I may let you live.
-Be informative and I may let you die. You'll want that after I've shot off an arm and a leg or two.
-I thought you were supposed to be the one with brains.
-Brains but no heart. Now talk or scream, Travis, the choice is yours.
  8:41am
Cheri Pi:

Bring back bush- I sense another theme show.
  8:42am
listener james from westwood:

scrolling back thru comments; good to see some fellow b5 geeks among y'all.
  8:42am
ZEN:

Caryn d'you want my job? You'll have to get into this flashing box.
  8:43am
dirty old man:

Once saw a bumper sticker "the only bush I trust is my own".
  8:43am
Caryn:

I'll pass, Zen. I'm not buff enough to fit in that box.
  8:45am
Chuck:

Pardon. Had to go downstairs to let my cat G'Kar in for breakfast. Yup, my cat's name is G'Kar, listner james from westwood. Am I geeky enough?
  8:46am
Dave B:

@DOM - classic...
  8:49am
Chuck:

Another good bumper sticker: "Jerry's (Garcia) dead, Phish sucks, GET OVER IT!"
  8:50am
Dave B:

and from a long time back...

"Dick Nixon before he dicks you"
  8:50am
Cheri Pi:

I'm in a band w/my cat Jeffh. We're called Harry Pussy Persuasion.
  8:51am
Caryn:

A new Cesaria Evora documentary just came out this year. Called "Mother Africa", for anyone who wants to check it out.
  8:51am
mott:

there is a really cool version of this song, 'Stop' on the Hendrix Band of Gypsys collection..
  8:51am
Elwyn:

OK. This is a nitpick.

How can Beachy Head, where trainer from Bigger Loser UK died, be regarded as #2. It's got an average of 20 per year.
The Gap has 50 per year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_suicide_sites
  8:52am
Dave B:

Morning mott - gonna have to seek that out!
  8:53am
Brian in UK:

Nurse to Gully Jimson as he is dying " Don't you think you should laugh a little less and pray a little more?"
Gully Jimson "It's the same thing" Then he flipped out.

  8:53am
Caryn:

Our cats were Merry and Pippin. A different kind of geekiness, but still... A friend has a python called Monty. What else you gonna call a python?
  8:53am
Marmalade kitty:

Heaven/Hell must be Rockin'!!!
  8:54am
Brian in UK:

Caryn can I suggest 'Sir'
  8:56am
Dave B:

another one for a python - Basil..
(A Clockwork Orange)
  8:57am
Chuck:

Were, Caryn? You lost them?
  8:58am
Dave B:

I have a pet fish named Eric...

He is an halibut.
  8:58am
glenn:

lunch is a good name for a python.
  8:58am
Chuck:

I'm blanking what was the name of the snake in Kipling's "Jungle Book"? That would have been a good one for a python too....
  8:59am
Caryn:

Brian, if I get a python, I'll see what happens.
@Chuck: yep, both dead now (cancer and kidney failure, respectively)
And just for the hell of it, some lessons in threats from Blake's 7:
-I'll tear your arm off and beat you to death with the wet end!
*
-How would you like me to let some fresh air into that rancid little brain of yours?
  8:59am
Dave B:

looks like we got cut. Have a good week folks!
  8:59am
Chuck:

But does he have a license, Dave?
  9:00am
Robin The Fog:

Oh dear, I seem to have lost the show. The perils of pre-rec-ing, no doubt. Have thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with you all, however!
  9:00am
Caryn:

Dave, is he a jugged fish?
  9:00am
Dave B:

see ya next week!
