As a farm kid, with no cable in the 80's, the new dance show was absolutely critical for my mental development. Hi Kat!
  9:18pm
Holly in NC:

Hi Asam & everyone!
@Destroit - I discovered the New Dance Show just a few weeks ago & have been living on YouTube watching old vids - so, so cool.
  9:19pm
SteveL:

I did NOT go see Mr. Plimsoul here six months back or so. Heard it was not a show that I should have missed.
  9:19pm
Kat in Chicago:

Hi Destroit... now, honestly, is it really warm enough for that sundress?
  9:23pm
Randy in NC:

efd, getting the juices flowing tonight with this opener!
  9:24pm
Destroit:

Haha, awesome holly. I haven't seen the new dance show for ages, due to my lack of YouTube frequency. Awesome that RJ Watkins & co still live on.
  9:26pm
Destroit:

Already ripped off the sundress, experimenting with makeup, I'm in that kind of mood. And with that, Hello Randy!
  9:27pm

I think I have some old radio id's done by Handsome Dick Manitoba lying around on cassette somewhere. For shame...
  9:37pm
Holly in NC:

Hi Randy!

Totally off efd-topic, are you in Rep. Brad Miller's district? He was brilliant today.

  9:45pm
Adam in Portland:

Kat! Give us live feedback, if you can. Running commentary on legendary dance line would be great.
  9:49pm

Came in just in time for Stevie, but I figured you'd do a really nice Don Cornelius tribute--glad you did!
  10:04pm

How the phuck I got that confused with Bethany, I don't know. Perhaps 4:00am was part of the equation. Thanks Julie (still simmering from that show!)

Hi Danne!

efd, that was a great soul train set! Loved Questlove's piece - will read Charnas later tonight. Just recently finished Charnas' 'The Big Payback'(yeah, I'm so on top of my reading) which I highly, highly recommend to all.

I can't believe this is still the only db's record I own. Need to remedy that immediately. Hey EFD did you see the "Hoboken Sound" vintage doc? It is both unintentionally hilarious and informative

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm

@Holly, thanks for the comment on the soul train set, I appreciate it! I still need to read The Big Payback myself, not to mention the Def Jam book whose authors were on Noah's show last year too.

@Joe D. that is absurd. I am not speaking to you again until you at least get their first (self-titled) album.

When I was a kid I wanted a green nose for Haloween

So like a month before or a couple weeks I was jumping on the couch and I went POP! onto the glass coffee table

So three weeks later by the time Haloween came my nose wasn't black and blue it was pretty well green with some purple so I got my costume

Didn't break it at the time somehow, haven't yet, little bit of luck I suppose

That db's song got me thinking about Squeeze so I looked them up in the accuplayist archives. 21 different DJs have played them for a total of 46 accuplaylist entries. It's clear that everyone gets a little Squeeze in now and then, but none overdo it.
