Martyn:

Good morning Bill and all except Brian.
Bonjour Brian.
  3:10am
T-Zero:

Morning, Bill and Brian. Really cold here too (17F) and a little snow, but not much. Perhaps bill should play Valaida Snow... lol Then again, don't know about trumpets in this set...
  3:11am
T-Zero:

Hi, Martyn. Didn't see you pop in.

Love Pere Ubu...
Avatar 3:12am
Bill Mac:

Yo Brian! The title of today's show was a comment a local woman made on the news in reference to all the fees banks attach to their services. They're robbing you at every turn! Morning All! We got snow on the way and cold this weekend. Back up to 50F by the end of the week though!
  3:19am
Brian en Angleterre:

T-Zero Do not know if you have read Alfred Jarry's original Ubu a most unpleasant man. There is an interesting take on him at this theatre as a war criminal.

Morning, Looms
  3:25am
Martyn:

Très bien merci Brian.

(no more French please, I'm struggling already)
  3:26am
Brian en Angleterre:

What Ho Looms. There is much debate here about the bonus payments to bankers albeit made in shares but adding up to seven figures for doing their jobs.
  3:29am
T-Zero:

@Brian: My exposure to theatre of the absurd is pretty much limited to Artaud and Jean Genet
  3:35am
Looms:

-5°C, damn it!
@Brian: I wonder why people are pissed off ;) Quick profit has always been a curse.

Don't hang the rich WFMU pledgers... Not yet.

Marafun.... I might use that... I'll be behind a large pane of glass in case people don't think it's clever...

Do you know who you're teaming with during the marafun, Bill?

I'm doing Jeff's and Dan Blumin's shows, and I got Jack Mello and Mr Hazelton on my show... should be a good time once I get past the butterflies, which i still get every time we do this

Brian en Angleterre:

Dada for now.

In lieu of nothing, Bob Mould's Sugar album Copper Blue has been played madly this weeat home and in car. It's great when you dig out an old one. Twenty years old would you believe.
Caryn Bill was asking for Finnish listeners earlier
Avatar 4:26am
Bill Mac:

I know what you mean Brian... I still immediately think of that as "new" music.... remember when it was unheard of for bands to be together for more than 5 years? How long for the Stones now? 50?
  4:26am
Jay/ London:

Hi T-zero you keeping warm
i got up late again too caryn my bed was so nice and warm :)
  4:26am
Caryn:

@Brian: aww, shoot! Yeah, I noticed the Finnish acts on the playlist. Well, Finland is in the house now!

@Bill: any chance you could play Careering by Peter Hammill?
Hello Jay and Caryn.
  4:28am
Brian en Angleterre:

H to He who am the only one. What does it all mean?
Stones too long, Bill.
T-Zero I saw a picture recently of Jackson Pollock's studio. The floor where the paint had fallen looked just like one of his pictures, if you get my drift.

@Jay: Woke up about 2:30 myself. Got my coffee and all cozy. It's gone from -8 to -14C though in the last hour.

@Brian: So glad you mentioned Pollock. I was trying to recall his name and it just wouldn't come to me... Was thinking that would be an easy way for you to pain the kitchen... just fling the brush around...

I think the last two album titles all have good messages for us.

Marmalade Kitty:

Looms!
  4:33am
Caryn:

Kitty kat!
  4:35am
Caryn:

But as for the other album titles... darn, I haven't filed Cramps under "sacred music". Then again, I don't divide my records by style.
  4:36am
king penguin:

Love Tim Buckley. Thanks.
  4:36am

Marmalade Kitty:

  4:40am
king penguin:

It's about time. I almost went all the way back down south for winter.
  4:41am
Caryn:

I also haven't draped any Musette album in velvet. But if anyone opens a junkshop glam discotheque, I'll be there!
@Brian: I keep staring at that album title and thinking it would be at least a little better if the second name was written as Jackdav. At least that way it would be close to an actual word (jackdaw).
  4:42am
Looms:

Woohoo!
Avatar 4:42am

OK, I'll bite.... what does jackdaw mean?

  4:46am
Marmalade Kitty:

the picture of the band on web page. dunno what youz seein..
  4:46am
Caryn:

I'm also wondering if the Dungen album and label are both Douglas Adams references. ("Ta det lungt" is how they translated "Don't panic" in the Hitchhiker books. It means "take it easy" or "relax".)
@Bill Mac: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackdaw
  4:47am
Phil Collins:

Starr is vastly underrated. The drum fills on the song "A Day in the Life" are very complex things. You could take a great drummer today and say, 'I want it like that.' He wouldn't know what to do.
  4:50am
Marmalade Kitty:

the band on the wfmu.org home page???
  4:50am
Brian en Angleterre:

Lord Buckley was not a freak.
  4:52am
Caryn:

@Kitty: been wondering that myself. I even checked out the pic properties, but it's just "girl bands 12".
  4:54am
Marmalade Kitty:

where is the bird? crow? ?
  4:55am
Stanley:

Hello everyone. Bit of a late start this morning. Digging the show though from the safety of the duvet.
  4:56am
T-Zero:

Morning, Stanley
  4:57am
Marmalade Kitty:

maybe the band in the picture don't have a name... lets think of a name for the band!?
  4:58am
Looms:

Stanley, you sleepyhead!
@Kitty: The Mysterious Psych Four
Avatar 4:59am
Bill Mac:

OK... I'm thinking
  4:59am
Caryn:

That's it, the band is Jackdaw. And thus we have combined the two niggling topics of the day into a nice bundle.

I like when things get neatly resolved... howsabout Uriah Heep?
