I think there was a lot of emphasis on poetic lyrics in the mid to late '60s that isn't so prevalent nowadays. It seems like Bob Dylan really influenced that, and it was important in all forms of music, from popular to underground. Talking to some people today, they seem to believe that lyrics are secondary and not completely necessary anymore. My friend is going to see The Wedding Present too, so that is extra motivation to check them out. And I will check that video out, thanks Deepak.
