Van in DC:

Hi Irene, hope you had a nice Easter. Still got the happy Spring color here I see :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm
Irene:

Hi Van (and everybody)! Yes, this is the color of April, at least for my playlists. Easter was spent on a nice drive near Bear Mountain.

Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Irene. If you want another neat adventure, you can try walking the railroad bridge from Highland to Poughkeepsie. It's neat to look down on the treetops from up there. http://www.walkway.org/

BDR:

Hi Irene, sad news: RIP Cynthia Dall http://pitchfork.com/news/46064-rip-cynthia-dall/
  12:31pm
Andrew Waterloo:

Afternoon....
  12:41pm
Rob W:

Great Bombino track, I forgot how good to be honest! Bombino is on tour in North America, playing tonight at the Highline Ballroom in NY - I saw him last time he played in NY and it was pretty spectacular. He is a guitar maniac...
  12:49pm
Van in DC:

I might have to go see this Bombino tomorrow night here in DC. Wow, that would be two concerts for me this week. Already going to see Joshua Bell & the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields at the Strathmore on Friday :)

Irene:

Wow, sounds like a good music week for you Van!
  12:59pm
kat330:

Had to come and see what the "O Boto" was. Was reminded a lot of Rodrigo, a fave composer of mine. Loved the Barbosa-Lima, too, though!
  1:06pm
Van in DC:

*applause*
  1:09pm
Cecile:

pretty pink! yum!
  1:09pm
Van in DC:

Another classical guitarist I just discovered last week is David Russell. Fantastic, I thought. WETA (local classical station) had a CD from him as their pick of the week.
  1:16pm
BDR:

Thanks! You're a sweetie.
  1:20pm
paula pc:

what BDR said -- Thanks, Irene.
  1:23pm
Chris from DC:

Van, where's that Bombino show?
  1:27pm
Van in DC:

@Chris - at "DC9". I've never been there before.

  1:28pm
Mike East:

I've played there. That should be pretty intimate.
  1:30pm
Chris from DC:

Ah, thanks. Haven't looked at their schedule in a while. Yeah, I think Bombino was at the much bigger Black Cat last time.
  1:30pm
Bill:

Great set.
  1:37pm
Paul:

So are there lots of other Jethro Tull deep cuts as good as this one?
  1:40pm
Andrew Waterloo:

I've always really loved Tull's acoustic numbers
  1:41pm
ian anderson:

yes, Paul, lots!
  1:41pm
zoot:

Oh yeah, Stand Up has plenty of swell tunes. Their take on Bach's Bouree is one that comes immediately to mind. I am regretting being out of DC this week - very sorry to be missing Bombino
  1:42pm
ian:

Word, pretty much the first couple few tull records before they got into concept albums are pretty solid all the way through, IMHO.
  1:45pm
Cecile:

Is John Goodman going to be part of it? He was so great on one of them.
  1:47pm
jan:

Gosh, Jethro Tull, brings me back to High School. Had a lot of the albums. 'bout the same time, had Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, and much more sounds of the day, which periodically show up on Irene's Playlist. Don't spend too much time listening to old rock, and was soon to drop interest in rock after Zeppelin's subsequent records. Now if Irene will play some Blues Project and Butterfield Blues Band, Electric Flag and more, I can wallow in
a time long gone. Great program
  1:50pm
Lucy:

I've actually just recently discovered Tull for the first time and they're mindblowing. Deeply inspired.
  1:51pm
Bill:

just got out of shower wondering why this was on. Thanks much!
  1:53pm
Cecile:

later Tull is pretty lame.
But the early Tull people have been playing of late is decent.
  1:53pm
mike tp:

seen tull open for butterfield central park schaeffer music fest . tix 1 .50 or maybe 3.00 1969?
  1:54pm
dale:

  1:55pm
Bill:

King Penguin/King Crimson hahaahhaaha! King Diamond?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm
Irene:

When we do the Citizen Kafka Memorial Broadcast John Goodman unfortunately will most likely be with us via recordings. I think it will be May 14, pending confirmation.
  1:57pm
Van in DC:

Might be Carol King :)

Ha, Ha Bill! The segue was just a coincidence. You know, I just found the album you sent me! Was on the verge of asking you to send me another. I really must clean up my music/office space. It's kind of a disaster area.
  2:01pm
dale:

irene - i've met roger mason a few times - he lives upstate in chatham ny. might be fun to get him on the shananagans.
  2:09pm
