Chuck:

Gooday, All!
  6:02am
Chuck:

Seems that just planning this theme made it rain, Meghan...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02am
Meghan:

Morning Morning Morning! Afternoon Afternoon Afternoon to Europe and Beyond.... Evening Evening Evening to Asia and Australia!
  6:03am
Chuck:

Good thing. The grass outside my shop door was like straw from dryness...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:03am
Meghan:

That was sort of the idea! We had an April with no showers.... but wildfires!
  6:04am
Chuck:

Now if I can only get the birds from to stop trying to make nests under the shop door awning...
  6:06am
Chuck:

Every morning I open the door I have a heap of sticks that fall out. Wierd....
  6:14am
Chuck:

Weddings are good. Like them much better than funerals...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19am
Meghan:

So far this year it's been 2 funerals and one wedding...
  6:20am
Vancouver Sue:

Hey! So is it raining in Jersey or would you like that?
  6:21am
Chuck:

Need more weddings then. And NO more funerals...
  6:21am
Vancouver Sue:

Cause you can guess what our skies are dropping! http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-74_metric_e.html
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am
Meghan:

Vancouver Sue..... it's sunny today. We can totally use some of your rain!
  6:28am
Chuck:

We're supposed to get some rain this afternoon...
  6:30am
Simon:

Yay Lawrence! Greetings from the UK where in England we have a hosepipe ban and all of April's rainfall is predicted to fall in next 4 days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31am
Meghan:

Awww, the infamous rains are checking in..... now where is Seattle to round us out?!
  6:33am
Nathan:

London pissing down. Deluge. End of days. Morning Meghan... survivors.
  6:34am
Dave B:

I can assure you that Tylenol PM works as advertised
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34am
Meghan:

Maybe I could use this as a tribute to rain for everywhere BUT the east coast of the states!
  6:36am
Chuck:

Good they've got something that works, Dave!
  6:36am
Dave B:

And good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am
Meghan:

Dave did you get your tardy slip from Chuck?
  6:42am
Chuck:

No tardy slips here, Meghan. You just get denied fruit cup. heheh...
  6:42am
Dave B:

This song always makes me feel like giving someone a good tolchok in the yarbles
  6:43am
Simon:

Late entry suggestion Meghan, that last set just transported me back to the mid-80s and reminded me of The Weather Prophet's She Comes in the Rain. Even if you can't squeeze it in, it's worth looking up.
  6:43am
Chuck:

Yeah, Dave. I never cared much for musicals myself. There are only about 6 that I actually liked...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am
Meghan:

ha! completely Dave! damn doesn't he sing it when he's doing it too? I could have played that version! Man it's been a while since I saw that last. A movie theater up in Montreal....
  6:44am
Dave B:

I'm going full re-tardy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44am
Meghan:

Dave- Never go full re-tardy!
  6:45am
Dave B:

Hahahah
  6:47am
Chuck:

Rodges and Hammerstein should have been slain...
  6:48am
Nathan:

"my baby keep fartin in my face.... "
  6:48am
Chuck:

Enter the cheese...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49am
Meghan:

What is rainy cheese? Here's a huge portion of it for you....
  6:52am
Nathan:

"If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did." - Jack Handy
  6:52am
Dave B:

News chopper hanging overhead. Wishing I had a SAM on my terrace. I'd make it rain death from below
  6:53am
Andy in Berlin:

Here I am - late as usual
  6:53am
Nathan:

@Dave B - hahaha...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54am
Meghan:

Andy..... You made it by the first hour.... that is rather good actually!
  6:54am
Nathan:

I've literally got Chinooks / Sea Knights / etc hovering over my place every day being in spitting distance of the Olympics site.
  6:55am
Andy in Berlin:

(sound of hand slapping head) I totally forgot to suggest "Listen To The Rhythm of The Falling Rain"
  6:55am
Dave B:

No news events, simply a picturesque shot of Central Park.

Fuckers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56am
Meghan:

oh yeah..... maybe I need to do an Olympic theme this summer for you all.
  6:58am
Nathan:

Yeah Meghan! Would it have to be songs with olympic in the title.. or simply 'sporting' type songs... ?
  6:59am
Caryn:

Heh, for some reason I remembered you had the earlier slot, and I thought I'd missed the whole show already! Yay! Only 1 hour to listen to in the archives!
  6:59am
Chuck:

If they're low enough you could take them out with an RPG, Dave!
  6:59am
Dave B:

@Nathan - for "security"?

I prefer the cadence of mil spec choppers blades than the gnat like one from the news/tourist ones
  7:00am
Dave B:

Meghan - do a set for each event.

SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING!
  7:02am
Nathan:

@Dave B - Something like that... seriously it's almost as if they're expecting a foreign land invasion. They've got Hesco boxes, ad hoc fortifications they normally use in places like Afghanistan and Iraq, fortifying the surrounding area and key choke points.. It's kind've creeping me out because it's so utterly ridiculous. I'm the same, I grew up near El Toro Marine base.. I have the knack for telling the helicopter by the sound.
  7:04am
Andy in Berlin:

Cowboys And Girls by the Intruders!
  7:05am
Dave B:

Did the stream die? Or is it me?
  7:06am
Chuck:

I'm still receiving, Dave....
  7:07am
Dave B:

Flash kinda crapped out for me. Probably my cable....
  7:10am
Chuck:

Blood on the Tracks is one of Dylan's best, in my opinion...
  7:11am
Nathan:

@Meghan - I know you're not going to play any milli vanilli... I'm just bringing it up for the hell of it. Just to make you cringe a bit on the inside and perhaps introduce that ear worm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am
Meghan:

hehe..... You are right.... on both accounts Nathan!
  7:14am
Nathan:

I've been infected myself. Just spreading the disease... "blame it on the rain.. yeah yeah.. "
  7:16am
Dave B:

The back masking part...

"...the sun shines. Raaain. When the rain comes, they run and hide their heads"
  7:16am
other david:

They were warning of water restrictions here at the start of the month - the last week though, endless endless rain.

J'accuse Meghan!
  7:17am
Caryn:

It is a great bass track, but the best ever? Hmm...
  7:19am
Jeff P:

Good morning, everyone! I've got to head off for work but before that I wanted to say this....
  7:19am
Jeff P:

The humidity's rising. The barometer's getting low.
  7:19am
Jeff P:

According to all sources, the street's the place to go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22am
Meghan:

ohhhhhh, smells of food wafting up here in the studio...... I think the restaurant next door should be forced to feed me for free if I have to sit here and endure that!
  7:22am
Chuck:

More Nick Cave on UTP? Who knew? heheh....
  7:23am
Simon:

I totally agree about the Brooklyn Museum! I saw a Ron Mueck show there a few years back and it was brilliant. A much better space than many of the museums back over the river.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25am
Meghan:

Oh I missed that one, but saw a bunch of his pieces in the Sensations show. His stuff is amazing
  7:29am
Simon:

It was stupendous. The gigantic baby in the middle of the room was very unsettling.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30am
Meghan:

We copied the large pregnant woman for an ice sculpture when I was working at an ice sculpting studio....
  7:31am
Chuck:

Sometimes art is meant to be unsettling, Simon...
  7:35am
Simon:

Absolutely Chuck, that's why I liked it so much. Super-realistic sculptures, but all out of proportion with the real world. Apparently he even uses real human hair for them.
  7:36am
Chuck:

I was just looking at some of his pieces, Simon. Super-realistic indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am
Meghan:

Chuck, he either makes things super large or small..... very eerie. They are simply amazing up close
  7:39am
HJ Cronan:

Greetings from a very wet London, it had been declared a drought but the rain has been falling for days now, enjoying your selection very much! Ta x

Thanks HJ! Much appreciated!
  7:41am
Chuck:

Must go let G'Kar in for his morning meal. Back in a few minutes...
  7:45am
Simon:

Meghan, was it diffcult to keep pregnant ice lady from toppling over? That's one big bump.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am
Meghan:

The arms over her head helps in balancing the weight
  7:47am
Dorkface Dorkatude:

Oh Man - that Cowboy Bebop anime had a 'rain' song.
  7:48am
Chuck:

The only art I get to see is the stuff I'm molding/casting....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am
Meghan:

And that is not always good....
  7:54am
Chuck:

But the pay checks are!
  7:54am
Chuck:

And fussy annoying clients aren't...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am
Meghan:

I am actually swinging by the Brooklyn Museum tonight to pick up the Keith Haring catalog. They had run out of it, so I was put on back order. I may just swing up and see the show again... that is how good it was
  7:56am
Chuck:

Another drawback to my location, no good museums...
  7:59am
Chuck:

Of course this is a good version by Jimmy, Meghan! It's a great song to begin with!
  7:59am
walter:

It's raining here in Copenhagen. Thanks for the set.
  8:01am
HJ Cronan:

Am also 'making art' for £'s here... Nice to make contact with others out there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am
Meghan:

Hopefully the reggae is making the rain not so sad Walter!

Lots of art types over here HJ!
  8:03am
Elwyn:

Guess who is fashionably late?! ?!?!
  8:05am
Chuck:

Yo, Elwyn! Better than unfashionably absent...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am
Meghan:

Elwyn, you are a week and 2 hours late! hehe
  8:05am
Caryn:

Same here, Chuck! When I visit my family, one day is usually spent going to museums, because otherwise I never get to visit one. (There's one "museum" here, and the last time they had a new show was last summer...)
  8:06am
Elwyn:

Heh. I really should be at the pub for a trivia night but the host who is someone I want to go out with, has gotten a new bf and it'd drive me nuts to see them together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07am
Meghan:

Elwyn, you haven't told us about hanging out with Keili!
  8:08am
kath:

and I too and late as always!
  8:09am
Caryn:

Maybe there's a Portland, Jamaica?
  8:10am
Elwyn:

@Meghan: We only hung out once so far. I invited her to a BBQ with my stormtrooper buddies. She and her bf rode in the backseat (chauffer style). Her bf left melted chocolate on my backseat. Grrrrr...
She didn't come to the roller derby last week even though I offered to buy her a Team Unicorn t-shirt. (turns out that all the small ladies sizes were sold out)
  8:11am
Chuck:

It's a trade off, Caryn. Either live where you like with few cultural outlets, or live in a place you don't like with many. I could never live in the New York/ New Jersey area. I would hate it...
  8:12am
Elwyn:

@Meghan: Do I need to tweet Ken again about moving you off morning shift?
  8:13am
Andrew Waterloo:

@Elwyn, is your Roller Derby flat track or do you have banked tracks out there?
  8:13am
HJ Cronan:

Meghan, check out Big Mikey Dread's Reggae Radio podcast on podimatic.com (sp?) - lots of in-depth, heavy roots, reggae, ska etc. an education for sure!
  8:14am
Randy:

Great show Megan. The kids at the Toledo Early College High School are digging it in my classroom.
  8:14am
Jeff P:

To continue my previous thought...
Because tonight for the first time, just about half past ten....
  8:14am
Jeff P:

For the first time in history....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15am
Meghan:

get ready Randy.... Slayer is coming up..... hehe
  8:15am
Cheri Pi:

It's too early, but I wouldn't be anywhere else.
  8:15am
Caryn:

@Chuck: well, I'm currently living in a place I don't like with few cultural outlets, because I can't afford to move... Unfortunately, not much of a trade-off, apart from the "live here and sort of afford food, or move and be even more indigent" trade-off.
  8:16am
kath:

I am happy in my middle of nowhere life. Plus, Cinci is a good city with plenty of stuff, so, best of both!
  8:17am
Elwyn:

@Andrew: Flat track. They use the WFTDA rules.
  8:17am
Politically Correct Dork:

Erm, Re: Cowboys and Indians, shouldn't it be Cowboys and NATIVE INDIGENOUS AMERICANS? SURELY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am
Meghan:

Good morning Cheri Pi! Just in time for the wake up set!

Elwyn- You can always send @StationMgrKen loving notes.
  8:17am
Elwyn:

Yay for Bob!
  8:18am
Chuck:

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that, Caryn! I love where I live. It's peaceful here. If I want the cultural venues though I just have to drive about 90 miles to the NYC/NJ area...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
Meghan:

I have lived in the middle of nowhere with nothing food and no culture and no other ethnic races and it drove me INSANE. I love the diversity that I have to live in a city. I do miss having a back yard, but fuck it, I don't need to grow it, I can go out to eat for it!
  8:19am
kath:

Hi Cheri!
  8:22am
Chuck:

It's mostly the huge population that annoys me, Meghan. Which in turn leads to traffic, crime, greater chances of having to deal with stupid people, etc...
  8:24am
Caryn:

Yeah, Chuck, I moved here to go to university (the university is in the capital, but the department of my major was, for historical reasons, located here). A year after I graduated, even the university department moved out of here (to the capital). But I'm stuck. Heck, at least with the university around there was some culture and people I know. Now, it takes me at least an hour of travel to see any friends.
  8:24am
Chuck:

Not that we don't have stupid people here in orchard country. But with a much lower population you don't run into them very often...
  8:25am
Elwyn:

Hey Kath!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25am
Meghan:

Chuck, we both know there are stupid people up there too..... Maybe even more than here in the city. We may have more people, but percentage wise.....
  8:26am
HJ Cronan:

Where are you Chuck?
  8:26am
Dave B:

Sometimes the city is the loneliest place I know
  8:26am
Andrew Waterloo:

There's lots in the area where I am. A couple of good festivals and such. There are also long pockets of nothing much at all. Of course I could always deal with the traffic and drive to Toronto but that's always a bit much for a week night.
  8:27am
Cheri Pi:

Kath! I need the wake up set big time :)
  8:28am
Andrew Waterloo:

Of course, visitations with my daughter have quashed the last 4 or 5 things I wanted to attend :)
  8:28am
Jeff P:

So no one's going to finish my thought?
  8:29am
Cheri Pi:

My god woman, I love you.
  8:29am
Travis Bickel:

All the animals come out at night - whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets. I go all over. I take people to the Bronx, Brooklyn, I take 'em to Harlem. I don't care. Don't make no difference to me. It does to some. Some won't even take spooks. Don't make no difference to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am
Meghan:

Jeff... your first thought was a while ago.... you making me scroll?
  8:29am
Randy:

Hell yea
  8:29am
Chuck:

I'm not disagreeing with that, Meg. I just know I don't come across them often.

Hum, that's interesting, Caryn! That's basically what I did except the college is still here.

New Paltz, NY, HJ...
  8:29am
PKNY:

When you have Slayer, who needs coffee? \m/
  8:29am
Caryn:

The city I live in is commonly known as "the most pointless city in the country", the most popular political party here is the populist right-wing "down with fags and darkies" party, and the most culture I get is the bulletin board of the local library. What I wouldn't give to live somewhere tolerable...
  8:30am
mohawkdave!:

Ok........I'm AWAKE I'M AWAKE I'M AWAKE I'M AWAKE!!!! THANKS!
  8:30am
Travis Bickel:

Thank God for the rain to wash the trash off the sidewalk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30am
Meghan:

I should just start my show with Slayer..... to wake you all up!
  8:31am
Shitty Bill:

SLAYER is the BEST way to wake up.
  8:31am
Andrew Waterloo:

@Caryn, there's room on my couch
  8:31am
mohawkdave!:

Heh hehehheh --MEGHAN! I totally gave up on the scrolling too!!
  8:31am
kath:

Caryn, I love in the most 'RED' county in Ohio. But I have made friends with the local dems.
  8:31am
Cheri Pi:

I wish the rain would wash the bird poop off my vehicle.
  8:31am
northguineahills:

D'oh, "slept in" today.

Yeah, yeah, jeff, it's raining men! And hallelujah for it.

Well, mohawk dave, did you ride your bike in this morning, you big pussy?
  8:32am
Jeff P:

Caryn wins! Thank you !
  8:32am
kath:

Cheri, didn't you hear that rain/thunder storm last night?? it did was all the poop off my car!
  8:32am
Dave B:

Sunday's rain washed the bukkake of pollen off my car!
  8:33am
kath:

Well, I admit, I did not dig the Slayer, but Raining Blood is Better than Raining Men!
  8:33am
Berg:

oh please stop the rain already, we havent had any today so far!
  8:34am
Andrew Waterloo:

It would be nice to have a enough rain to wash the bird poop off of my car... it's been rather stubborn
  8:34am
HJ Cronan:

I've never heard of New Paltz Chuck, but I'm a country boy myself, lived in London ten years, left and have ended up back again. Managed to find somewhere green and quiet - good result, I'm where the work is and managing to stay out of the rat race. Count myself lucky
  8:34am
Andy in Berlin:

What's to discuss? It's Slayer!
  8:35am
Dave B:

YESSSSSSS!

A

  8:35am
Caryn:

Thanks for the thought, Andrew & Meghan! Seriously, if it wasn't for WFMU to listen to, I think the cultural wasteland would be intolerable.
  8:36am
Parq:

Haven't heard this APB track in a couple of forevers.
  8:36am
Cheri Pi:

Kath-you're right, I think I was woken up to hail hitting my window! It's all coming back to me
  8:36am
Simon:

Hey I'm a bit late on this one, but I've lived the city and i've lived in tiny villages and I love them both for different reasons. what I really hate is towns. Worst of both worlds. Too big to know everyone, too small to have anything interesting going on. More than 1000 people, less than half a million; flatten them all I say.
  8:37am
HJ Cronan:

Lunchtime - thanks for the music and chat, best wishes to all from london

Green and quiet is just what I'm talking about, HJ! New Paltz is about 90 miles north of Manhattan up the Hudson River...

Agree with Meghan! We must snatch Caryn out of her place and relocate her somewhere better!
  8:38am
kath:

I totally agree with Simon.
  8:38am
Simon:

Is it anywhere near Beacon Chuck?
  8:39am
kath:

Chuck, isn't NP a big college town??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am
Meghan:

*giggles* Simon- Chuck & I both worked in Beacon. Other side of the river and up about 45 minutes
  8:39am
Caryn:

Oh man, Simon pretty much summed up the problem.
  8:39am
Chuck:

Still a bit further north, Simon. Meghan and I used to work together in Beacon though...
  8:41am
mohawkdave!:

Jeff P; Of course! They're calling for rain.
Hallelujah, as they say. I'm sure glad Caryn spelled that a few posts ago!
You?
  8:41am
Simon:

Oh that's wierd. I just looked it up on the map. I went for a walk in the Mohonk reserve that same year I was at the Brooklyn museum. Beacon; you've got a pretty good museum right on your doorstep! One of the best I'd say.
  8:41am
Elwyn:

Love this Dean & Britta song but it kind of makes me sad every time I listen to it.
  8:41am
Chuck:

Nope, not very big, Kath. You can drive through town in about 8 minutes...
  8:41am
Caryn:

Seriously, i watched half an hour of morning television today, and the first thing that came up? How the place I live in is "the most pointless city in the country". And then they chuckled about it. Sigh...
  8:41am
northguineahills:

Try living in Jacksonville, FL (where I grew up). One giant-ass suburb w/ over a million people where you have to drive at least 45 miles just to find anything. The beaches, however, are very nice w/ decent surf.
  8:43am
kath:

Jacksonville sounds a lot like Long island!
  8:44am
kath:

Caryn, are you from there or somehow ended up there?
  8:45am
walter:

Hey Meghan, the reggae actually made the sun come out. Imagine that.
  8:45am
seang:

alright
  8:46am
mohawkdave!:

Now that I checked the playlist I understand why all the rain talk! Dean and Britta......are they "The Church" people??
  8:46am
Chuck:

Ah, you've been here then, Simon! I live 5 miles from town itself. The watchtower at Mohonk can be seen from my bedroom window...

Meghan:

I love Jersey City. It's everything I could want. Good food, I know my neighbors and am part of the community here, I have access to NYC where there is culture (though there is art openings here in JC that I have participated in) and I am near major airports for when I want to leave.
  8:46am
Caryn:

@kath: I'm from the capital region, but moved here to study.
  8:47am
kath:

Chuck, can't ya see Russia??
  8:47am
Andy in Berlin:

I'm sorry to say this, but I'm really done with the Eurythmics
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:47am
Meghan:

Mohawkdave..... I'd say far from "church" people......

Yay Walter! Magical powers over here....
  8:48am
northguineahills:

I suppose Jacksonville is a bit like LI, however, more southern (think Florigia, more Georgian then Floridian). It's about the size of a Rhode Island (it's the largest city in the lower 48 land-wise).
  8:50am
Caryn:

The one great thing about this place is that it's a transport hub, so leaving is easy. I live a block from the bus & train station.
Hah, I was wondering when "Purple Rain" was coming!

Speaking of Georgian, that double cheesy Georgian bread was the bomb for leftovers!
  8:52am
Berg:

ah this reminds me so much of this incredible Purple Rain exhibition in the middle of the night in Paris, a few months ago, where they poured rain on people and gave umbrellas under purple light. Check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvVA48g2RgA
  8:52am
mohawkdave!:

Secretly, I have always loved this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am

I didn't know anyone grabbed the leftovers. I saw them get wrapped up and brought back, but I was thinking about the cold and rain instead!
  8:53am
Jeff P:

Cigarette lighters up in the air, people!!
  8:54am
Jeff P:

Simon:

Okay, in honour of Meghan's defence of Jersey City I revise my upper limit down to 250,000. When I become president Jersey will be spared.
  8:55am
Chuck:

Ah, the 80s memories!
  8:55am
