Yesterday Once More

May Baskets - (WIKI quote) - "May Day was also celebrated by some early European settlers of the American continent. In some parts of the United States, May Baskets are made. These are small baskets usually filled with flowers or treats and left at someone's doorstep. The giver rings the bell and runs away. The person receiving the basket tries to catch the fleeing giver. If they catch the person, a kiss is exchanged."
As a couple oif listeners (and Station Manager Ken) have pointed out to me, I have some kind of 'phasing' problem with the output of my show, due to the weird configuration of antiquious gear and tangle of cords I use in the production of Dusty. I thought I had it figured out, but then Joe Egan pointed out to me that it sounds poorly during the interviews. I am trying to figure it out. I have ordered a new dual-cassette deck (well, an old one, like I always use, on EBay) and a new micro-cassette recorder (well, a new discontinued Radio Shack model that I had to track down from a clearing house online). Please let me know if you notice problems with the sound of the show. I am irked by it and trying to isolate the prob. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you listen on HEADPHONES, it should be OK. It is for me.

At this point, police had seperated the marchers at the entrance to Wall Street. I found myself on a stretch of Broadway which was suddenly deserted, yet lined with cops.   Thank you VERY much for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I appreciate it. I have been struggling with some serious audio problems in recent weeks (months). A few of you have noticed. I have taken some steps to remedy the sitch, so hopefully you'll note improvement soon.

I have to say, doing this show is such a roller-coaster ride sometimes. I find myself fluctuating between glee and doom quite regularly - one day feeling on top of the world and the next like I suck and need to hang it up. The audio problems drive me f'ing crazy, seriously. It's really hard to keep this old gear operational, especially since I am a Luddite to begin with. OK ... enough whining. I hope you are still with me. Drop me a line sometime. I love hearing from you.

Occupiers should organize nationally and nominate Dennis Kucinich as their presidential candidate. READ his platform on issues...
http://kucinich.us/issues
If you aren't registered to vote, and vote for a viable candidate, you are fighting a losing battle. When I talk to an occupier, they just speak of their disdain for the status quo but offer up no real solutions. Many are not registered to vote nor plan to. Sad.

@Night Al: As Occupiers are reluctant to speak on behalf of the movement, only for themselves (the core chants of Occupy are the only real common bonds, and that's what it's all about). Individual Occupiers have expressed approval of Kucinich, Ron Paul, Greens candidates, some even Obama (though those deep in the movement almost never do).

Caryn /// Hope it went well. Glad you showed up here!
  6:34pm
Matt from Springfield:

@david: If you have nowhere to go politically, but dislike the status quo, attending an Occupy event is what you should do. Taking action is doing something about it.
  6:35pm
kat330:

Great news, Caryn! To Fair labor's ? point though, there's less disposable income to contribute to FMU and other charities when on-the-job productivity is compromised so that either those human resource wastes are passed onto the consumer or passed onto the taxpayers. Oh, and there's no such true thing as efficient multi-tasking research has proven.

exactly, Matt. if one wants something to be part of occupy, one has to do the work, not find it prepackaged for consumption or on a cable tv channel guide...

Night Al I hear you but that flies in the face of US history, and thousands who sacrificed their lives to very palpably make this country better
  6:43pm
kat330:

@Night Al: Kucinich has always impressed me. Here's what has me concerned: I voted for Nader (wrote in since Indiana didn't put him on the ballot) in the infamous election stolen by Bush from Gore. Probably the guilt heaped on us Naderites wasn't justified, but it still has me worried for any next such time.
  6:43pm
KevinC BK:

beg to differ, night al
that's not protest at all actually
it's called voting and it legitimizes the system.
I'm not arguing against it
its actually quite useful at times,
my problem is that voting happens so little.
It would be lovely to have more community control...

@KevinC: true, voting might not be considered a protest, but not voting is not a viable form of protest either. If you don't vote, no-one goes "wow, what a powerful statement". You've just wasted one of the ways you have of influencing things even a little. Certainly there are plenty of other ways to be politically active, but not voting has no impact other than possibly allowing someone you loathe to get into office.
