I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Cultural Geography:

Southern Indiana and southern Ohio have more in common with the south than the north. They were largely settled by Virginians in the first half of the 1800s. West Virginia was part of Virginia till the Civil War. Settlers came west from northern VA (now WV) or north from KY (which was actually the westernmost county of VA till the 1780s).

Cultural Geography:

Just draw a line straight west from the border between PA and (at one time) VA. That's basically your north-south line in culture, dialect, etc. North of that is mainly called "extended New England". Virginia and Massachsetts were the two biggest colonies. Directly and indirectly, VA populated the south, and N.E. populated the north. Hence the Civil War.

  2:27pm
Cultural Geography:

PA is a special case, populated in the 1680s ff. by Quakers and everyone Penn could recruit (Germans, Moravians, Scotch-Irish as small farmers in the back country, etc.) NY, NJ, and PA are called "middle colonies." NY has more links with New England than PA does. The interior of PA was settled heavily by Sotch Irish subsistence farmers who went northwest around the Appalachians, and then west and southwest on the west side of the Appalachians. If you set aside the east-coast city Philly, then PA is more like southern Ohio than it is a northern state.

That's why Ohio and PA are still swing states in national elections.
