In English in any case, I noticed Nena in this set; "Ich bleib' Im Bett" is one of my very favs ("I Stay In Bed")

The Nena lyrics are great too! Very much expand on the theme of staying in bed--the perfect late night/early morning Nena track!
  5:06am
hugh:

The links are gone?! So yeah.
  5:08am
fred von helsing:

we still need a new genre "yé-yé 2100" or something like that. maybe grimes is pointing in the right direction. but it needs more bounce and more sheer adorability. and some ridiculous hair-dos.
  5:09am
Matt from Springfield:

Whoa, brass heavy pop "Superlungs"! I guess "Superlungs My Supergirl" was a combo of two very diff songs.
Avatar 🦇 5:09am
Julie:

Links are gone? hoof n mouth? Rats :(
Avatar 🦇 5:10am
Julie:

Crazy version, right?
  5:11am
Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: If only we ran a major TV network like MTV, we could easily declare the advent of Yé-Yé 2100 and promote artists who might fit into that. Then again, the quicker way would be to just start a band called Yé-Yé 2100, and make a music video.
Avatar 🦇 5:12am
Julie:

the original original superlungs sounds just like supergirl btw. This version is just an odd one.
  5:12am
hugh:

Pastoral Pink Floyd. Really dislike when they got all mad at everything.
  5:14am
Matt from Springfield:

Pink Floyd's Meddle? From '71? I know I've heard this song "San Tropez" before, but wow, that acoustic riff sounds EXACTLY like a modern San Fran band called Citay. They have very long, expansive (electric) guitar riffs like that (another WFMU find!)
Avatar 🦇 5:15am
Julie:

One of those Floyd albums I just don't know. Trying to fix that.
  5:18am
fred von helsing:

@MfS Oh and it needs ze French accent. References to Gaulois to evoke decadence and existentialist angst and carefree I-am-immortal attitudes. For the new millennium, references to occupying fast food joints and throwing pavés at les flics. And a Dirty Old Man at the mixing console (hey that's me!)
  5:19am
no but Im good people:

Thank You.

  5:31am
Matt from Springfield:

Or the Spector British rock corollary, the Jesus and Mary Chain. A friend lent Psychocandy to me years ago, that was my first exposure to the band. I had just listened to Glitterbest, or one of my 70s UK Glam comps, in full. I was surprised that despite the "noise rock" label, J&MC sounded just like the 70s Glam rock, but louder (use of major chords, etc).

I looked up the Volunteers album after you played "Eskimo Blue Day". Then I found "We Can Be Together"--great! As much of a JA fan you are, you should play that, especially with a safe harbor timeslot. Apparently only Bill Mac has also played that, also around 4 am.

"Life During Wartime"!

Are you still considering replacing "jibrille-silent mourning" as bed music? DON'T! Or at least keep it among different beds at each break. It's such a part of your show's fabric.
Avatar 🦇 5:49am
Julie:

@Matt i am determined to at least add something, just don't know what!
  5:50am
fred von helsing:

Agreed, jibrille-silent mourning is the warped woof of the pwesentation
  5:51am
Matt from Springfield:

If you wanted to shake things up, a loop of the soft part of Kate Bush's "Wow" would make great bed music for you. Similarly proggy sounds could be used at other breaks, or heavy sounds ("How Soon Is Now" which you already used). And conclude with "Gigolo Aunt"! That's a great ending!
