You're killin' me Van. You're (not) literally killin' me. Stick with the tempeh and seitan salad or somesuch.

Van in DC:
well all of the lunch vans/buses/roach coaches outside L'Enfant Plaza...so many of them. The one for lamb & rice was a shorter wait. The one for BBQ brisket was just waaaaay too long.
12:31pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Van: Mmm! Indian/Pak? Carryout kabob places often give rice and chickpeas as sides.
Duck carnitas--that reminds me of an INCREDIBLE appetizer at one local Thai restaurant: a "duck roll", sweet-smoky roast duck grilled on roti bread, and rolled up!
12:31pm
Matt from Springfield:
Duck: the fowl that America has forgotten about.
(Good! More for us then! :)

Saw a short presention last night by someone promoting/praising the food truck movement.

One of my top 10 compositions of all time, Rhapsody in Blue. Had to come on to shout out Gershwin! :)
12:32pm
Carmichael:
Aloo Gobi is a great Indian/Nepalese dish, chickpeas in a red curry sauce. With jasmine rice, it's heaven on a plate.
12:33pm
Van in DC:
yep Matt - a kabob place but on wheels. Chickpeas & salad as sides, peach tea. Yum.
12:33pm
kat330:
[I just posted that to the WRONG playlist first....eeesshhh.. ]
Oh kat330, we are all in this together. No worries!

I see the lunch menu is the hot topic, quelle surprise. I'm having a turkey sandwich myself. Was just finishing with making it when RiB came on.
12:38pm
Matt from Springfield:
*Peach* tea!!
Hi kat! No, don't worry about that stray commenter on Bryce's playlist...

Monk followed by Terrason! excellente!

Webhamster Henry:
Well, I guess that's a piano roll I'll have to get. Thanks so much for bringing back these Rough Mixes. And for those who don't know, a vast proportion of WFMU's programming from the last 12 or more years is available in the archives.
Webhamster Henry is speaking truth to power. WFMU's archived programs go back to 2000. Wow! These Steinski shows date to 1995, a good eight months or more before WFMU began messing with the Internets.
12:41pm
Matt from Springfield:
@Carm: I got to locate a restaurant that serves Nepalese cuisine--this has been a recurring playlist topic before, and everyone says it's amazing.
The MTV vee-jay Steinski was referring to most certainly wasn't Martha Quinn. She is the sister of ex-WFMU DJ Matt (Uncle Matty O) Ostrowski.
12:46pm
Van in DC:
Wow. Martha Quinn. I used to watch them back then like, when they played music videos. On TV.
12:47pm
kat330:
@Carm: One of the 7SD archives has me on the phone and on the record answering "Ken" when asked by Andy, "which one of us do you like better." So Ken should be happy w/me. That and a Mouse of Today pledge. :)
12:48pm
Matt from Springfield:
@kat: There's finally some Ethiopian restaurants closer to me in VA instead of being so concentrated in Adams Morgan, so I'm hoping to experience that soon.
I just heard that Laura Cantrell will be filling in on WFMU 3-6pm today!
12:55pm
Van in DC:
Wow. This is like trombone orgy. Love it.
12:56pm
Webhamster Henry:
I just did a random check and MAC's archives go back to June 17, 1997. When WFMU started webcasting, the Antique Phonograph Radio Program was the first show to stream.
