  12:03am Skirkie:

I get it.
  12:04am Matt from Springfield:

This actually WAS commissioned as a US Navy recruiting song/video. They payed for the promo video and had jet fly-bys--then recoiled when they realized what they funded! But I wish the Navy had kept this as their recruiting song...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:06am Julie:

  12:07am Destroit:

Hello Julie and everyone...what a nice surprise.
  12:07am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, this is 60s pop ephemera. Didn't know Nancy sang songs by other than Lee Hazlewood!
  12:08am Matt from Springfield:

Children of the night represent!

  12:12am Upside-Down Bat:

Ugghhh...what time is it? Man, that's right, I gotta get up super early today. Long day ahead for me.
*brews extra strong bat coffee*
  12:13am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, we already have Mae West doing "Light My Fire" on Golden Throats, but Nancy's might be a good candidate for that as well.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:13am Julie:

yeah its not so good
  12:16am Matt from Springfield:

Is "Matilda Mother" your fav Piper track?
And now in mono, as well! :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:16am Julie:

  12:26am miss cheri:

  12:27am Matt from Springfield:

Whoops, oh well, I've heard a few other tracks from Rock On, seems a great album.
The cheerful lunacy of Haysi Fantayzee!

  12:41am Matt from Springfield:

Poor EFD, when WFMU people choose to beat up on someone, it's always him! ;)
  12:43am Matt from Springfield:

Thought this heavy synth was Void Vision.
From Claire Voyant onwards tonight's show has been unmistakably Julie!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:43am Julie:

I <3 Mr. EFD
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:43am Julie:

LOL Matt don't forget the Floyd
  12:44am miss cheri:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 12:54am Julie:

To those I have yet to chase away, thank you for being here :)
  12:57am Ray:

no charge
  12:58am Matt from Springfield:

Olivia's very chill Cowsills cover. I like this, it seems 90s British in some way.

We are the Children of the Night, only morning can chase us away!
  12:58am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Good evening.morning all. Sorry I'm late. My driver's license fell out of my pocket while I was out walking. I've spent the past hour canvassing the area looking for it (which I succeeded in doing).
  12:59am Destroit:

  12:59am miss cheri:

you don't have to chase me away julie,,i'm going for real!!! good night
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:00am Julie:

On no BadGuy so glad you found it! What a hassle replace
  1:02am Matt from Springfield:

Hi BGZ, yes good thing you didn't lose that!
  1:03am DMV:

Lost license? No problem, we're incredibly helpful.
  1:04am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Yes, especially since Texas still mails renewed/replacement licenses. I'm flying to NYC in a couple of weeks. I have no idea what sort of an assache would await me at security without a proper photo ID.
  1:05am Matt from Springfield:

Good Camel song here! Arista, 1978...yeah if you listen to this music production I can totally see that! (Produced by Mick Glossop though, not Alan Parsons)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:06am Julie:

Matt is knowledgeable about camel?
  1:07am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Thank you for filling in tonight, Julie. Therese spoke highly of you. Looking over the playlist of what I missed I see that her praise was warranted.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:07am Julie:

She did?? Wow..
  1:11am miss cheri:

btw julie i think you should fill-in more often like this most of the time.
  1:11am Matt from Springfield:

Actually I only know about Camel from Dark Night, I happened to look up the producer since you typed it was Arista 1978. Mr. Parsons was huge on that label at that time.
  1:16am Matt from Springfield:

Ladies...who LUNCH! :)
  1:17am Matt from Springfield:

For your SUW fill-in with Andy Cohen: "Shut Up, Me" !!!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:19am Julie:

I have a gf, not really a listener, who won an SUW t-shirt when she was at my house. People give her interesting reactions on the street.
  1:21am Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, that's prob difficult to wear without getting noticed and stared at!
Like this Judie Tzuke.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:23am Julie:

Easiest to wear in NYC no doubt
  1:25am miss cheri:

julie,,i hate to overstay my welcome but i can't sleep,, i'm prone to commenting. i'm so sorry..
  1:26am listener mark:

Nick Drake?
  1:26am listener mark:

Ahhhh! I have this, somewhere.
  1:26am Matt from Springfield:

LOVE this Circus Maximus! "The Wind" is well known around this station, wish this band got more airplay!

@mark: It does sound VERY much like Nick's arrangements, doesn't it?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:27am Julie:

I really need to explore the other songs. I just..I see the cd and I'm like oh...this one
  1:27am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Wow...I can't believe I've never heard Circus Maximus before. I love JJW. He's very popular here in Texas.
  1:31am listener mark:

Nick Drake's vocals were lower, I should have realized.
~~I've been regressing to my childhood.
"Traffic" and "King Crimson"
  1:31am miss cheri:

tell me do you think i AM overstaying my welcome julie?
  1:31am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I miss how old songs separated the instruments between left and right channels like this one does.
  1:39am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: I hear ya! In fact, I love the differences and stereo "tricks" you can find on older, unremastered recordings. The L and R are totally different entities, and it's fun to hear how they combine into one sound.

(In fact, my "stereo check" track is the unremastered "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"--I know exactly how that should sound in each channel, and calibrate stereos accordingly. Platinum standard.)
  1:40am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Unmistakable guitar sound...Bolan!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:43am Julie:

I am thoroughly caffeinated. This is important information.
  1:43am david from ks.:

,,,,Such good music, from a exellent DJ who has proved Her skills show after show,, and now an extra early show treat for the week. ,,,,, a minor thought from one small grain ov of sand on an immense beach of beautiful golden Earth spinning by the grace of the unbreakable laws ov nature,,,,,,thank You Ms.J.
  1:45am Matt from Springfield:

Grooving to "The Motivator"!

@Julie: What was the commercial you saw with "20th Century Boy" in it recently? I actually first learned that from a commercial, but over 10 years ago (Mitsubishi or some SUV ad), and I guessed correctly it was the "Get It On, Bang A Gong" guy--and a new world of Marc Bolan opened up!
  1:45am Matt from Springfield:

Beautiful, David!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:45am Julie:

Wow, thanks so much David!
  1:45am miss cheri:

i guess you're through commenting with me huh julie?
  1:48am Matt from Springfield:

YES!!!! "Fields of Fire"!! Joe McG turned me on to this a few months ago! This actually was a hit in the US, predating "In A Big Country".
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:49am Julie:

It's a good 'un
  1:49am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@Matt: Have you seen "Born to Boogie"? That's must see T. Rex material. Also, Bolan had a variety show on the BBC. Only a few shows were filmed before he died. I used to have a Japanese laserdisc that had all the shows.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:50am Julie:

the Marc show was terrific!
  1:51am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Can't say I have, I'd love to see what that was like.
  1:52am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

  1:53am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I recall someone from Big Country passing away within the past few years. Hold please.
  1:55am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Yes. Stuart Adamson hanged himself in 2001.
  1:55am miss cheri:

well like i said earlier julie,, i will e-mail you my favorite nancy sinatra tunes later this week,, ok?
  1:57am Matt from Springfield:

Sad but true, I also heard some time ago about the tragic death of Big Country's singer.
  1:58am Destroit:

  1:59am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Judie Tzuke was signed to Elton John's record label (Rocket Records). She was also his support act on a tour.

Wikipedia knows all.

  2:01am Matt from Springfield:

Klaus Nomi--there won't be another like him!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:03am Julie:

  2:06am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Take care miss cheri. Have a great week!

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:13am Julie:

yay for hurricane kitty! always my pleasure!
  2:14am Bob in DC/VA/wherever:

Great show! And always great to have some Mary Timony on the airwaves -- this EP was one of Helium's niftier efforts.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:17am Julie:

Thanks bob!
  2:26am Matt from Springfield:

Yeah, In Search of the Lost Chord is in fact a good candidate for an entire-album set--I noticed how that just cut in, blending from the previous track like you've said before! It would be a nice, spaced out set.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:26am Julie:

Oh yes indeed
  2:31am Matt from Springfield:

LOVELY!! Would never have guessed this was Goldie!
(Must hear more! :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:31am Julie:

rest of the album is really country
  2:33am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Dolly Parton, Porter Wagoner and Buck Owens arranged songs on Goldie's album. The Buckaroos were her backing band on some tracks.
  2:35am Glovanie:

Sorry I'm late... I'm not used to hearing you in the daylight O_o
  2:35am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

I had a promo poster for Robyn's "Globe of Frogs" hanging on my wall in my late teens.

  2:46am Glovanie:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:47am Julie:

it is called..way way far away land
  2:48am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

It is called THE FUTURE!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:49am Julie:

You suppose he has a jet pack?
  2:50am Matt from Springfield:

Way Way Far Away Land, kind of a romantic feel to it...
+9 GMT, other side of the world!

Jet pack through time, at least within the day. Reach an hour--before the day can!!
  2:51am Glovanie:

a jet pack would be fun
  2:52am Glovanie:

and i am sorta in the future... for the US at least...
  2:53am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Were you promised a jetpack? There's a band from Scotland who feels they were.
  2:54am listener mark:

Thanks again, Julie. See you on the radio tomorrow, if not on the archives.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 2:55am Julie:

Thanks guys for listening! Gonna try to squeeze in one more before Amanda wrestles the mic from me.
  2:55am Matt from Springfield:

Awwww, almost over already! It's so early! :(
But we have a consolation prize tonight, Amanda! 3-6 is covered! :)
  2:56am BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Thanks again, Julie!
  2:56am Matt from Springfield:

I don't work tomorrow/today, but I do the day after (Tue), so I'll probably have to check out tomorrow's show in Archive.

Happy though to be getting two DNS in a week!
Thanks Julie, great show as always!
  2:56am Glovanie:
