Listener comments!

  8:19pm G:

You got rid of a pompous puritan. Good work. Use that as a test on future dayes.
  8:20pm G:

dates, oops :-)
  8:21pm Adolf:

We get it! ;)
  8:21pm josh:

she sounds like an ass! heave ho! (to quote Dr. Scharpling!) ... i want to hear how you wound up on a date with her in the first place.. I'm amazed the conversation got to the date stage!
  8:23pm G:

Send her an mp3 of your last mic break O:-)
  8:23pm small d:

heh, great dating story, Mac. people who tend toward historical revisionism by omission don't exactly seem like ideal partners. imagine future arguments! :)
  8:24pm josh:

G: I like your thinking! ;-)
  8:26pm Swiss Cheeseball:

I find yodeling stereotypical and extremely offensive. HUMPH! We're done here. You pay the check.
Avatar 8:27pm MAC:

I want to date you all!
  8:30pm G:

@josh: It might be her one and only moment of immortality. Her 45 seconds of fame, or infamy :-)
  8:31pm G:

I'm guessing the j in your long German title should be an s. It's probably one of those oldtimey "long" s's.
  8:32pm G:

If she was a lawyer, DON'T send her an mp3 :-)
  8:36pm G:

I take back my 8:31 comment. The title's some variety of Schweizerdeutsch (Swiss German). All my spelling bets are off. I only know a weensy bit of Zuritutsch (Zurich German), and the spelling varies throughout the country.
  8:46pm julia:

mother and father pay all the bills, and we have all the fun. well hey, that ought to nip all that millenial resentment in the bud
  8:47pm julia:

or not
  8:52pm G:

"Woodman Spare that Tree" is an old chestnut first written and set to music in 1837. It was often used in schools up to the mid 1900s. "Rocky and Bullwinkle" even did a cartoon version of it in the early 60s.

The author's a NYC journalist:

  8:56pm julia:

yay! thanks mac
  9:05pm Sam:

Some people -- some gals -- just love the 'high dudgeon.' You're a historian, not an eggshell-walker.
