Sweet sweet hooks on a Friday, to smooth over the cracks that developed during the week. Always a treat - thanks Pseu!

G -- I haven't read it, but I just found the website for it. Looks interesting. http://www.keyofz.com/

IRWIN! You old son of a gun! How the hell are ya?
  9:44pm
G:

He's in bed in the counterculture?
  9:45pm
Skirkie:

I do the same thing, except for the dinner part.
  9:46pm
G:

Food can slow down the buzz acceleration, Skirkie :-)
  9:48pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Glad to hear from Irwin. Billy Jam had X. Ray Burns earlier. Who will join Rich Hazelton later this evening?
  9:54pm
Drunk Jandek:

I tried putting out a pop LP once, called it Blue Corpse. Well it stiffed like a corpse! LOL
  10:07pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hiya everyone!
Looks like I made it for Irwin's set! :D
  10:08pm
G.R.:

Pretty cool set so far, isn't it? :)
  10:09pm
Matt from Springfield:

Fer sure! Earlimart sounds great, could always go for some Saint Etienne! Missed the GHP but I always like his mash-ups!

So Irwin, I've heard your name around FMU before, quite a bit. Do you have a radio show here, or something? If so, when's it on?

Reference them to a Licensed Social Worker
  10:19pm
Matt from Springfield:

Listener David! Dedicated fan of every Bronwyn appearance!
That answered a question of mine: how he knows every time Bronwyn is on, even spur of the moment fill-ins. So that's why--he's listening and calling EVERY afternoon, so David has a perfect attendance record.
  10:23pm
hugh:

Wednesdays are the best. But then other days are sometimes the best. :D
  10:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

10 HOURS! Ken, Kenny G, Irwin, then Ken & Andy!
The almost half day of classic WFMU lunacy!
  10:23pm
Drunk Jandek:

PLAY SOME AMANDA!!!!!! Love that kid
  10:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

Only once has Amanda been played outside of 3-6 pm on Wednesdays, and that was when Irwin took his turn at the Holiday Party one Saturday night. Bring MIMI COOKIE out of the shadows, and into the night Irwin!!!
  10:25pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Yes...Amanda. Some people may not like her sound, but I like her.
  10:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

Beth did a wonderful version of "Along Comes Mary", Charlie from Busy Doing Nothing played that recently. Did you drum on that track Irwin?
  10:29pm
hugh:

Play some Scrawl. Irwin managed them for a bit.
  10:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

Don't know where I may heard this, but "The Island" has a very familiar feel to it.
  10:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Coincidence, hugh? ;)
  10:33pm
Drunk Jandek:

Friday night's alright (for COOKIE)
  10:33pm
hugh:

  10:34pm
PJ:

Scrawl! I miss them.
  10:36pm
G.R.:

Looking at Irwin's June 27 playlist -- he played something from the new dB's album?!? Sweet!
  10:37pm
Danne D:

I seldom comment on either of your boards (you're welcome) but I had to pop in to say that the Pseu/Irwin dynamic is wonderful to behold :D
  10:37pm
Danne D:

HBD, EVH
  10:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks for making yourself known, Danne! :)
  10:41pm
Danne D:

@Matt - well there was that Amanda cover that Irwin did at Hoof N Mouth that also was an instance of her music having been played outside of Irwin's timeslot :)

Anyhow, just wanted to pop in. Alas, I will be bunkering for a bit now as I have another task that has to take me off of listening - will have to definitely catch all of the glory on the archives :D
  10:41pm
fatty:

I wish you guys would take over the Sound Opinions show on NPR.
  10:43pm
hugh:

Robyn Hitchcock is a case in point. So many ignored cases in points.
  10:43pm
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, but of course! Amanda cover, on audio AND video! Irwin in all his fierce "Worship Me" glory, All-Star band volunteer Ira K. on sax, and X.Ray Burns' bare chested beer gut! Truely memorable!!
  10:44pm
Steve Albini:

The future belongs to landline loyalists, F cellular.
  10:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Do a little mEth"? Well, if you said so! (snortttttt)
  10:46pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Obama or Romney? In the next presidential term, which candidate will be better for free-form music?
  10:51pm
G:

Guys that are the music-focused equivalent of the Comic Book Store guy in The Simpsons
  10:52pm
hugh:

Green party all the way! Just say no to The Man.
  10:54pm
hugh:

Pseu doesn't like Lily Allen?!?! WOW.
  10:54pm
Romney:

Everyone in swing states, vote for the Greens. Obama hasn't really stood up for your values.
  10:59pm
Irwin:

Vote for PSEU — the ideal consensus candidate. President With A Hook!
  11:00pm
G.R.:

Irwin -- hear, hear. :D
  11:04pm
fatty:

for me, pop music since since 1987 or so still hold the painful association of being the fat kid at the 6th grade dance. It's hard to get over.
  11:10pm
fatty:

I'm sure 99.9% of WFMU listeners can relate.
  11:11pm
Chris in Newton:

Great show Pseu, thanks to Irwin as well.
  11:11pm
Irwin:

Are you THAT Chris in Newton?
  11:20pm
Chris in Newton:

I am..... I think?....
  11:20pm

  11:26pm
autumn:

you guys are funny for people
  11:26pm
G.R.:

Irwin -- Tracy Tracy. (That was a nice Primitives track, by the way!)
  11:27pm
Irwin:

Hi, Autumn! MEOW!
  11:51pm
G.R.:

Ah, I love this song.
  11:53pm
hugh:

1980 was the death knell for really great pop music up and down
the pop charts. Look at the charts around 1980 before and after, amirite? It's before CDs so it must've been the drum machine. Just my 02. Nice set Pseu and Irwin!!
  11:56pm
12539:

Thanks Pseu, thanks Irwin!
  12:00am
hugh:

I agree with yall. I was talking about the charts.
  12:01am
Droll:

Rock music died when the people making rock grew up listening to rock. Rock music born 1954, at age 26 it was dead.

I half expected a venomous "Codger's Thing With a Hook" show, but "Pseu's Thing With an Irwin" was a polite, yet edgy and hip 3 hours.
  12:10am
hugh:

In all fairness to the new guy, Pseu and Irwin don't do many PSAs.
  12:15am
G.R.:

The House of Hooks. Cute. :D
  12:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hello again, from the future!
Really was looking forward to this show--only stopped because a storm knocked out my power in MID show! How inconsiderate! Over a million people were denied the chance to listen live:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-thunderstorms-knock-out-power-across-region-leaving-2-dead/2012/06/30/gJQAB9MbDW_story.html?hpid=z1
  12:55pm
Matt from Springfield:

That said: THANK YOU Pseu and Irwin for wonderful show! All caught up now!

And TY for pulling out Beth's "Along Comes Mary", the original "You Were On My Mind", the Primitives, ECC and Troggs! Fan-tastic!
