  11:06am

  11:06am
counselor:

agreed, the rough mix was nice
  11:07am
mrmucho:

as amazing as Rumours is, I prefer the s/t one before it
  11:08am
Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings Michael and all the listeners.
  11:18am
Brother Trucker:

FoW make some of the best driving music this side of the Trans Canada Highway!
  11:28am
Mike East:

Thanks for all the links, Michael (Def Leppard review, etc.). I could use some reading material today. The tunes are holdin' me through til lunch, too.

Birthday shout out to "The Father Of Radio
Italian inventor Guglielmo Marconi received U.S. patent number No. 586,193 for his wireless telegraph on July 13, 1897. Credited as the inventor of the radio, Marconi would go on to develop this into a device that would change communication forever."
  11:31am
Mike East:

Hail Radio!
  11:33am
mrmucho:

looking forward to the interview. my question for Ken would be: who decided on the vocal arrangements that we hear in the final mixes? you have 3 amazing singers on those records, but to my ears, the arrangements are kinda conservative (vs. something like the Band where the 3 singers are presented in all kinds of interesting combinations).
  11:34am
Elias:

Always timely, Michael. I'm reading the Rosey Grier autobiography right now! If anyone has a copy of Rosey Grier's Needlepoint for Men I'd like to read that too.
  11:37am
kw:

Landfill. Nice analogy
  11:40am
Sean T.:

Elias, I am working on a Ray Milland bio called "I Walked in Rosie Grier's Shoes."
Keep an eye out for it.
  11:44am
Elias:

Will do!
  11:45am
jmd:

good one, Sean.
  11:51am
Mike East:

Louis C.K. in a Woody Allen movie could be awesome. The New Yorker review of "Louis" was probably the best reviewed show of any that I've read in that magazine...I'm hoping it will get my wife to watch.

Ok, time to order lunch.
  11:52am
northguineahills:

I'm always a sucker for Fleetwood Mac.
  11:56am
efd:

That extra beat on the drumroll in the chorus kills me every time.
  12:06pm
jasmine:

Loving these fleetwood mac rough cuts. Awesome!
  12:09pm
Woody:

By the way it's my b'day today, Mike
  12:15pm

  12:16pm
Arlo:

Happy Birthday Dad!
  12:21pm
Buzz:

Happy Birthday Woods
  12:32pm
efd:

Great interview, Michael! It seems like the massive success of those Fleetwood Mac albums took the focus off the musicianship of the band, in a way, in that it was all just this massive THING. It's fascinating now to go back and hear the rough mixes and listen to the final songs with a new perspective.
  12:34pm
john:

Hasn't the role of the studio changed?
  12:35pm
john:

(hopefully this is live)...artists can work everything out at home, never setting foot in a studio.
  12:39pm
Mike East:

Really interesting interview, Michael. Thanks to you and Ken!
  12:40pm
jmd:

Another #1 interview! Thanks Michael and Ken.
  12:44pm
Peter:

What a great interview, Michael! It's funny, I fly a lot on Delta to SLC, and "Rumours" is one of the albums on Delta's permanent list.. so I've listened to it very closely (with headphones), about 1000x times.

The reason most music today doesn't mean anything to us, is it it is impossible. It's meaningless; made cynically, joylessly, meant to be consumed by idiots.
  12:47pm
Mike East:

Its the DUDE!
  12:47pm
john:

@Peter: Same as it ever was.
  12:56pm
axlotl:

"Drop dead, you nitwit!" Haven't heard this in like 20 years. WHO IS IT?
