Scratchy vanity 45s, pilfered field recordings, muddy off-the-radio sounds, homemade congregational tapes and vintage commercial gospel throw-downs; a little preachin', a little salvation, a little audio tomfoolery.

  8:02pm
David:

Hi Kevin - everything in order for tonights church on the air?
  8:03pm
David:

Call me Deacon Dave. I have served as such years ago.
  8:04pm
Deacon Dave:

I'm very happy to be here tonight listening to this great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
sinner:

Everything is fine, but someone last week stuck some chewing gum underneath the front pew. Everything smells like spearmint.
  8:06pm
Deacon Dave:

Janitor George isn't doing his job is he . . . maybe we need another person . . . one who is thorough?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
sinner:

Henry David Thorough?? (Happy Birthday to HDT today, btw.)
  8:07pm
Deacon Dave:

Kevin, did you hear about the gentleman who was hired to paint the steeple on the local church?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
sinner:

I did not.
  8:09pm
Deacon Dave:

He painted all day and got near the top and was running out of paint . . . he decided to thin out the paint so he could get the job done. That was his first mistake, for this was saturday and he needed to finish by Sunday.
  8:10pm
Deacon Dave:

He felt really bad about thinning the paint and when he came to services on Sunday all he heard was "Repaint and thin no more"
  8:11pm
Deacon Dave:

That is one of my favorite jokes . . . I hope you liked it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
sinner:

...love it.
  8:12pm
Deacon Dave:

90.1 is cutting out on my side . . good grief!
  8:13pm
Deacon Dave:

Sounds like you have the hiccups!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
sinner:

DD: you aint listening online?
  8:14pm
Deacon Dave:

No, I'm up in northern NJ where I can get the signal from Hudson NY
  8:16pm
Deacon Dave:

WFMU is my favorite station, in fact I feel blessed to be in NJ in order to hear it. One of the reasons it is so good is Thursday night @ 8 pm - look forward to it every week.
  8:17pm
Deacon Dave:

Sorry, I'm a bit locquacious tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
sinner:

DD--Many thanks. The next round is on me.
  8:20pm
Deacon Dave:

I feel like I'm the only one listening . . . but do be discouraged Kevin, I ran a coffeehouse for 10 years in Flanders NJ and attendance was hit and miss, Sometimes there was only 2-3 folks who showed up but that was okay because I got to hear some great music. I guess what I'm saying is what you do is awesome and I hope you keep it up for years to come.
  8:21pm
Deacon Dave:

not
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
sinner:

...maybe you should lay out on the next round....
  8:25pm
Deacon Dave:

Are the trumpeteers available on CD?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm
sinner:

You can get a really nice and great Trumpeteers 2 CD set on P-vine, but you can't get this song on CD. Only right here on SC.
  8:32pm
Deacon Dave:

Hallelulia dude! Loving the tunes!
  8:33pm
Deacon Dave:

Well, I had a hard time finding anything on P-Vine ... but that's okay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm
sinner:

......fellows are really sangin' right here....
  8:34pm
Deacon Dave:

I hear that - is this on CD?
  8:35pm
Deacon Dave:

Blind Boys Tonight?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
sinner:

Nope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35pm
sinner:

...no Blind Boys. Maybe next week.
  8:36pm
Deacon Dave:

is that nope to both questions?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
sinner:

yep
  8:38pm
Deacon Dave:

I saw the blind boy live about 15 years ago . . . best music show I ever attended. Everyone was out of their seats and praising God left and right. It's too bad the little guy died recently.
  8:39pm
Deacon Dave:

Of course many didn't know they were praising God but that's ok I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
sinner:

...tell it, Charlie....
  8:41pm
Deacon Dave:

Wow, I was 13 when that came out!
  8:42pm
Deacon Dave:

I wish I had heard it then . . . better than Led Zeppelin anyday!
  8:43pm
Professor Natural:

Is there an historical refernce for the Reverend Jackson's "Something to Think About?"
  8:43pm
Deacon Dave:

I think I'm revealing way too much info about me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
sinner:

Natural: What do you mean?
  8:46pm
Deacon Dave:

Kevin, if you do quit WFMU would you still make CD's? Would you send them out? To Folks like me? Or would you just let it die?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm
sinner:

DD: Don't worry.
  8:47pm
Professor Natural:

Song references an event in Jackson-on my only pass at the song(tonite)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
