Listener comments!

  12:04pm Cecile:

  12:10pm Cecile:

holy crap, I looked up Huntress and it's true, their lead singer looks like a Frazetta warrior babe come to life. Cool. Time for women to get into some of that Manowar action.
  12:19pm Frank:

Yea, baby!! My favourite day of the week has arrived all.for D.K.F.M
  12:24pm Hallelujah:

Getting my dose of eternal sunshine on the Fun Machine!
  12:28pm joe:

  12:28pm joe:

I am so psyched for todays guest
  12:29pm 44 H M/F Cascadia:

Can Heaven's Door get a doorbell? I am tired of knocking.
Avatar 12:30pm kamikaze:

Hi All! Thanks for tuning in! My guest today is Jonathan Cummins; his latest band: USA Out of Vietnam is playing now. He's also responsible for the likes of Bionic and the Doughboys, which you'll hear soon. Please post any questions you may have - he will be on at 1pm!
  12:31pm 44 H M/F Cascadia:

Question: What was his first album?
  12:32pm Cecile:

that last song sounded like Neurosis crossed with the Beach Boys. What are Jonathan's favorite musical influences?
  12:35pm 44 H M/F Cascadia:

My first record was "Do the Hucklebuck" by Jackie Gleason http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsT8ML0dc10
  12:39pm joe:

Question: I read that he did work with Circus Lupus (it was on the internet so it must be tru) if so what was the extent and his feelings of doing such.
  12:40pm Cecile:

Not feeling it. Trying hard, but not working
  12:41pm Cecile:

he doesn't have a good story and lots of words to sink his teeth into.
  12:42pm paul b:

"Ha! ha!" quoth he, "full plain I see,
The Devil knows how to row."
- Coleridge : Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner part 7, 12th stanza
  12:43pm 44 H M/F Cascadia:

But the Devil doesnt have 19 Olympic Medals
  12:45pm 44 H M/F Cascadia:

Crunchy guitar on Fix Me!
  12:49pm Mariano:

Dicks! Haven't heard them for 20 years or so! Nice one!
  12:51pm jljl:

dicks are all nice and newly re-released on Alt Tentacles so easy to find now.
  12:51pm Cecile:

I appreciate them more now than I did back in the day. They seemed a little slow and plodding to me back then. Not anymore!
  12:52pm Mariano:

Thanks jljl!
  12:54pm joe:

Have to say i was kind of let down when the NJ Doughboys reunited (although I am very much a fan) a few years back because I started seeing all the ads and got very excited :)
  12:57pm Heysus "Infidado" Sanchez:

Very dark sounds today!!!! Mysterio no doubt!!
  1:00pm Luna:

Play some WS Burroughs who passed into the Multiverse 15 years ago today.
  1:00pm 44 H M/F Cascadia:

But I am afraid of my Ghost!
  1:00pm Jim Devoid:

Question: I'm assuming that Jonathan was involved in the Canadian Doughboys, correct? If so, was he also in the Asexuals?
  1:00pm InBrkly:

It is a nice sentiment but comets are made of ice :)
  1:02pm Bill Nye:

Shad up! :)
  1:02pm jljl:

I was wondering the same as Jim D., loved the Asexuals "take a look around".
  1:05pm Sean Daily:

  1:06pm Cecile:

I was thinking Godspeed.
  1:09pm joe:

Yay I helped with great radio
  1:10pm joe:

I had a feeling it wasn't the same band..:)
  1:11pm joe:

Wow you got some real issues with band names. LOL
  1:12pm Cecile:

out of the blue is amazing.
  1:13pm Cecile:

I helped too, joe!
  1:18pm Cecile:

wasn't that Richard X. Heyman's first band?
  1:18pm joe:

Originals and covers (mostly rock standards). Garage rock type band.
  1:20pm chris pierce:

bring USAooVietnam to NYC/NJ!
  1:21pm joe:

Cecil: yup
  1:22pm joe:

Jnathan if I knew about I would have come in from NJ.
  1:23pm Gentleman Jim:

  1:24pm joe:

  1:26pm Gentleman Jim:

  1:28pm joe:

  1:29pm sparky:

  1:38pm PKNY:

Voivod are one of those bands where I thank my lucky starts I got to see back in the day.
  1:39pm joe:

Question so we know you don't like Green Day :) What are some newer bands (last 5 years or so) you do like? Also I heard you mention Cop Shoot Cop a favorite of mine did you get the chance to encounter the Nike commercial
  1:39pm jonathan:

jiji - wasn't in asexuals, that was john kastner from the doughboys. asexuals are reuniting this weekend in mtl
  1:43pm joe:

Could totally hear the Screaming Trees covering this XTC song
  1:45pm jljl:

thx for the info. Wish I'd known about the reunion (one of the first bands I played on the radio). Saw the DB at the Channel I think way back.
BTW, Krishna and Dave were "Turbojugend" guys, got a pretty funny pic of that.
  1:45pm jonathan:

cecile, 1-2-5 obvs
  1:46pm Luna:

Loving the XTC...damn, been ages since I've heard them.
  1:47pm Cecile:

hahahhaha, jonathan.
  1:56pm Gentleman Jim:

jljl, I'm the former bandmate of Krishna and Dave. Jonathan is the guy on the radio. I've never finished a drink in my life, Jonathan has finished his share, my share, and your share - twice. He's somebody that people pay to write his thoughts, I'm someone who people make up excuses as to why they can't endure listening to my never ending nonsense any longer.

He has a tremendous beard on his chin. I have no beard on any of my five chins.

He's an awesome guitarist and composer, I'm an average guitar tuner and decent long distance driver.

However, we both work cheap. So maybe that's the confusion.

All the best to Boston.
  1:58pm Jim Devoid:

HOLY CRAP! Gentlemen Jim!!! The Youthbrush!
  2:02pm jljl:

Gent J, not sure how I seemed confused, I know Jonathan's on the radio but glad to meet you. You seriously never finished a drink? Just like Dave Smalley haha. We may have met at the CY reunion like what, 6 years ago? (My name's Joanie and I'm on WMBR) Have known Krishna for ages and Dave for almost as long but K. has disappeared (big life changes etc). They had a band with two basses a while ago but I'm the only one still rocking. And not drinking much myself. Damn, we've got a fire drill at work, will return.
2:04pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:

My old pal Johnson!!!
  2:05pm Cecile:

  2:19pm Cecile:

  2:23pm Luna:

Jesu. Jesu. Jesu.
  2:28pm Cecile:

  2:28pm common:

hell yea mr. blue sky!!
  2:38pm Cecile:

2:39pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:

ELO. Really. Where the fuck ere you in 1978? We were up to our neck in that shit.
2:41pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:

I mean there was a giant goddamn ELO poster in every record shop. How could you miss that?
2:42pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:

Mirror was corporate owned. Not so alt.
  2:48pm Gentleman Jim:

Colin, can you clue me in as to what punk is? I think I might know, but I'm sure that you do. Thanks.
2:49pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:

Punk is a shit boomer youth subculture.
2:50pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:

Does that help?
  2:53pm Gentleman Jim:

2:59pm Colin from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.:
