  6:02pm Van:

Hi Doug have good show bye
  6:03pm Matt from Springfield:

"Hello Drummer! (Pt. 1)"
  6:03pm Van:

Oh and moooooo? :)
  6:04pm Honey Water:

Hi, Doug, Matt & Van!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Doug Schulkind:

Van, Matt and Honey W, good greetings to you all.
  6:05pm Philo Gristle:

Double moo!
  6:05pm Matt from Springfield:

Hi HW!
We were psyched-out! No Pigeon tonight, but I'm glad there's at least a Drummer!
  6:06pm Honey Water:

There was an error earlier on FMU's front page saying Clay Pigeon was filling in for Chris T. -- speaking of a two-headed mystery! Glad we didn't have to choose or do flip-flopping IAE. :)
  6:07pm Matt from Springfield:

"Hello Drummer! (Pt. 2)"

I remember you stitching Parts 1 & 2 together last year on a Tuesday show, a welcome annual event!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

Moo to you, too, Philo Gristle.
  6:07pm Honey Water:

Yeah, Matt -- a psych-out afternoon in general.
  6:08pm Philo Gristle:

"at least" Matt? AT LEAST?!?! :) Praise the Drum. Dum-de-drum. Hi Doug & lot!
  6:08pm Honey Water:

Loving these Barrelhouse women!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Doug Schulkind:

Matt #1 is just a cool as Matt #2 (but nowheres near as cool as Clay Pigeon. None of us are.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Doug Schulkind:

Honey Water, Big beautiful women always have a warm spot to croon on GTDS.
  6:09pm Matt from Springfield:

At least BT's annual event today was a *good* kind of psych-out!
@Philo: Double woof, double moo!
  6:10pm Honey Water:

@Matt: Eye of the beholder. What's so refreshing about GTDR stream's comments during the weekdays are they are mostly (and mercifully) nasty buckeye and ugly rhubarb FREE! :)
  6:11pm Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: Praise the Clay! (Or perhaps even, Claise the Pray...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Make sure to stay tuned after the show. Jesse Kaminsky is going to absolutely KILL IT teaming up with international spinmeister DJ Berbere. (No records were harmed in the production of this broadcast.)
  6:12pm Honey Water:

Doug, who is your favorite all-time drummer?
  6:12pm Philo Gristle:

Clay is cool. Drummer is hot.
  6:13pm Matt from Springfield:

Incidentally HW, I take it you've had a nasty buckeye w/ rhubarb in it? ;)
I'd never heard of that, "Devil's Buckeye"! In PA we always kept it sweet and simple.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Doug Schulkind:

@Honey Water
That is a brutal question, but in my cascading torrents of love, Max Roach would get drenched first.
  6:15pm Honey Water:

Matt, that's because *you* are sweet and innocent, but not simple. Sorry I thought you were in on the note-passing childishness! I was really hoping BT would interject something like: "If you're going to pass notes in class, then read it out loud for everyone." Nothing meaner than adolescent girls. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Doug Schulkind:

Next up is the man they called "Mr. Five By Five" because he was as wide as he was tall: Joe Turner.
  6:17pm northguineahills:

ahh, the siamese twin-headed Scottish emo cow. A rare beast indeed.
  6:17pm Matt from Springfield:

Yeah, was there a deleted comment I didn't see? I presumed when they said buckeye candy, they were chatting about buckeye candy...
  6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

Max Roach! A "Drummer's Drummer" then!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Doug Schulkind:

Howdy northguineahills! Double the emo. (I wish'd I had a snap of a double emu.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Doug Schulkind:

There shall be no commenting deleting here (unless it is by me, wah ha ha ha!)
  6:20pm Honey Water:

Matt, if you'd locate email on my blog, we can take this off Doug's playlist late on?

In the meanwhile, gettin' down with drums and blues!
  6:21pm Honey Water:

EMU? The mascot of E.M. University, Matt? Or cassowary? Or ostrich?
  6:21pm Philo Gristle:

**COMMENT DELETED** <<-- "Look what I can do!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Doug Schulkind:

No, Philo, no! You know not what you do!

@Honey Water
I speak of the gentle but ugly flightless bird of Down Underland.
  6:25pm Philo Gristle:

So this is the fella Willie Alexander was talking about.
  6:25pm northguineahills:

Cassowaries are nasty beasties, w/ their giant claws and kicking....
  6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

Eastern Mich Eagles, was Huron.
  6:28pm Matt from Springfield:

I think The Ostrichs would be a good name for a beach volleyball team--because "we'll bury your heads in the sand"! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Doug Schulkind:

My current favorite animal: The copybara! (Edging out the manatee by a snout.)
  6:29pm Coffee Cola:

Doug! your last couple of shows have been phenomenal! Keep the jams coming.
  6:30pm listener james from westwood:

just got in from the eye doc. pardon any misspellings, but you could drive a truck thru my pupils right now. also, i'm seeing double; there's a 2-headed ox on the playlist!
  6:31pm Honey Water:

Awww, the manatee is so sweet though! Millie Manatee, Dougie Dugong, and Sally Seacow -- my fave trio. :)
  6:31pm Philo Gristle:

Chupacabra for me. First place. Second, sasquatch. Third, cat.
  6:32pm Honey Water:

@Matt: Did you say beach volleyball?!?! Arrrrggh, *every* time I sit down to try to enjoy these Olympics, it's frickin' beach volleyball -- men's, women's -- or it's court volleyball -- men's, women's. I'm just not that deep into volleyball.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Doug Schulkind:

What is it, national Eye Health Day or something?! Close your eyes and open your heart, LJFW.
  6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

I remember Mike Cooper! He's the Phil Ochs doppelsinger!
  6:33pm Honey Water:

Philo! Penalty box for you!
  6:34pm Philo Gristle:

@Matt My Honey just asked if that was Phil Ochs before seeing the list!
  6:34pm northguineahills:

Yes, Matt, I was remembering the same thing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Doug Schulkind:

Mike Cooper's vibrato is one of the 19,000 wonders of the known universe.
  6:35pm Matt from Springfield:

@HW: The first week every TV I saw at lunchtime had beach volleyball or swimming on--blame NBC's time-delayed groupings.

And hey LJFW! It's been a good while since I had the highway tunnel pupils treatment!
  6:35pm Honey Water:

All blood bros and sis' on this list, yay! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Doug Schulkind:

South African sax genius Dudu Pukwana playing with Coop here. Wow! Double wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Doug Schulkind:

And South African bass genius Harry Miller (?) too.
  6:38pm Matt from Springfield:

African musician collab! Okay now he's just trying to *BE* Phil Ochs! :)
  6:38pm Honey Water:

No, I blame it on their lame idea it's what will boost their ratings. Given the amount of coverage, there could not have been a single second of play NOT aired of women's beach volleyball. No other event gets anywhere close to that. And what's with the vaseline filter on Bob Costas? Vanity unbecoming.
  6:39pm Honey Water:

[Sorry, had to have an Olympic-sized vent.... all done now. ]
  6:41pm Honey Water:

This spicy Chocolate is a fitting dessert for our just-finished repast of .... um, guess what, Matt?
  6:41pm Philo Gristle:

Used to love Olympics while watching them on noncommercial nat'l teevee way back when. Now it's 5 minutes of beach volleyball, 5 minutes of commercials, 5 minutes of 'key athletes' (US and anyone else who will be in the top 3, since they know the results), 5 minutes of a 'life story' pre-recorded piece, and 5 minutes of commercials before another 5 of beach volleyball. Gripe. Grunt. Groan. Gristle.
  6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

What about Vaseline on his teeth, to sparkle for the camera? Well Miss NJ '96 at least says they don't actually do that... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Doug Schulkind:

I have been watching the BBC streaming of all the Olympic events and it has been wonderful. I purchased the Tunnelbear app that quickly and easily gives your computer a UK-based IP address. It cost $5 and away you go.
  6:43pm Matt from Springfield:

@Honey: Hint, does it have to do with any song titles on this list?
  6:44pm Philo Gristle:

Great tip, Doug! I'll poke around and see how feasible that is with out setup.
  6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

Never mind, I thought "Armenteros" might be a hint, but turns out...it's a SEE-gar!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Doug Schulkind:

With the BBC's coverage, you just pick and choose what you want to watch. Haven't seen a second of bikini volleyball. Watched a ton of archery and triple jump and ping-pong and all those kooky ones.
  6:45pm Honey Water:

We listened to that old 7SD repeat. I had a brief bout of pageantry, and I never knew anyone who used vaseline (that way). But it was strictly no "bathing beauty" sorts of teen pageants anyway.
  6:46pm Honey Water:

Mmm, I like this Rkoub muchly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm Doug Schulkind:

In my email alert, I mentioned a track from Algeria, but this is actually from Morocco. Apologies to those who feel let down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

Just saying "Rkoub el Kheil (Mal Hbibi)" make the whole show worth it. Everyone say it with me now. And just, out loud. C'mon, don't be shy.
  6:48pm Honey Water:

Oh, sorry, missed your question, Matt. [zoomed in fields make for little back view]. Fish tacos, what else! :> This batch was particularly tasty because I had guacamole available. Don't always.
  6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Great Rkoub! And appropriate, as I know I'm having leftover: lamb and couscous tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Doug Schulkind:

Next up is a song named for a dance style which itself is named after a common household appliance. Can you guess which one?
  6:50pm Matt from Springfield:

Oh yum! And guac! What kinda fish? Any lettuce or cabbage?
  6:51pm Honey Water:

I was blessed to spend 4 days in Morocco back in '74. Never got lost in the medina, but lost my coat on a bus. Gained a blanket at a youth hostel to use as a poncho in its stead.
  6:52pm Philo Gristle:

It's too fast to be the refrigerator. Bouncy enough for... The Toaster!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Doug Schulkind:

By the way, I just thought you should know that I make the world's best guacamole. And yes I'll be making some after the show (while I listen to Jesse Kaminsky's maestro radio.)

The playlist page for KAMINSKY KAMOUTSKY is here:
bit.ly...
  6:54pm Matt from Springfield:

@Doug: Washa? Drya?
  6:54pm Honey Water:

@Doug: Vacuum cleaner?
@Matt: Actually built tonight's meal into a "taco salad," with taco shells separated on the bottom, plank grilled tilapia, jalapeno seasoned rice, shredded lettuce and cheese, salsa & guac. It was a bit spicier than usual, and so better than usual.
  6:56pm Honey Water:

Doug, I'll trade you a load of fresh thyme for some of your world's best guacamole! BTW, Philo's done nothing but search through our Roku settings ever since your great viewing tip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Ding ding ding ding ding, we have a winner. Listener Matt, please step up and accept your GTDS kewpie doll!
  6:56pm Honey Water:

Ding, ding, Matt!
  6:58pm Honey Water:

I don't enjoy going to the laundromat, but otherwise I really enjoy doing laundry. Don't think of it as a chore (like dish washing is, ugh).
  6:58pm Matt from Springfield:

@Honey: Tilapia's a good base, but can certainly use spice and other flavors to make it interesting.

@Doug: Guessed it, but a dance called "Dryer"? I had assumed you were going to play an African or world music track, with a name that sounds like a household appliance!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Y'all don't forget to tune in to Amanda's Nazario Scenario tomorrow at noon here on the stream. Amanda will be away the following week for vacation, and then she will be off the whole month of September while she attends a cool thingamagig up in the wonderful Whoopsidoodles. (We are all so proud.)
  6:59pm Matt from Springfield:

All right! The ultimate game show prize!
  7:00pm northguineahills:

The only problem w/ cooking from scratch so much (since I'm barely working) is all of the dishes I have to clean. I just put some music on, and it's no problem.

I still pay the laundromat to do my clothes, I hate washing clothes.
  7:00pm listener james from westwood:

double thanks, doug!
  7:01pm Honey Water:

THANKS, DOUG! You've warmed the cockles of my heart and given Philo a new obsession. :)
G'night all you brothers (& sisters if you're out there)!
  7:01pm Philo Gristle:

Thanks Doug and listenerds!
  7:01pm Matt from Springfield:

How dingy tonight! :)
Reunited, Parts 1 & 2! Excellent show Doug, and mighty fine stapling job too, I might add!
  7:01pm Matt from Springfield:

Have a good night everyone!
  7:02pm Holly in NC:

late... world's best guac?
  7:07pm Doug Schulkind:

My pleasure, Honey W. Philo, I will steal the term "listenerds" from you immediately. Good night to you, Matt from Bedsprings. Holly, I dearly hope you will taste my guac someday. It repels spiders!
