  9:16pm
Tom - In Marine Park Brooklyn:

She did EFD !!!! ... she was an early "bloomer" in '77 !! too and turned me on to Pat Duncan on this wonderful station not too long after that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm
efd:

Hi Matt! I'm going to say translucent but not transparent.

Top o' the evening to you, Barkevious.
  9:17pm
Danne D:

@Matt Heard of 'em - can't remember what they were known for though
  9:18pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Got The Dickies on white vinyl 10".
  9:18pm
Danne D:

So Pat Duncan was your gateway show, Tom, Cool :)
  9:21pm
PB:

I take it this Fat Boys track is representative of the very early stage of drum machine technology.
  9:21pm
G:

I see lots of us are still on August keyboard holiday! :-) Checking in...
  9:22pm
Danne D:

EFD was the original drum machine :)
  9:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: Scottish band from the mid-80s, "The Honey Thief" is the one I heard--thought you might know them :)

@EFD: Translucent, that still rocks! :)
  9:23pm
Tom - In Marine Park Brooklyn:

  9:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

LONG time, no G!
Ugh, brain still on keyboard holiday ;)
  9:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

Take consolation Danne, at least you can get WFMU at work. It's a lifeline, or rather a soulline for me as well, count your blessings!

john:

Disco 3!

Danne D:

@Matt (listening via computer btw) Headphones on
  9:28pm
mildred:

So happy to have the radio and EFD playing tonight. Thanks!
  9:28pm
G:

I'm around, even when out of town. (I work online.) But when socializing with family out of town I am only listening to archives early morning or late evening while working, and that means no live comments...

Just got back home Monday and had a wisdom tooth out today, my first extraction *ever*. Aren't they *fun*! Y'know, they just won't let you comment when they have pliers in your mouth :-)
  9:28pm
EL:

Has anyone here ever made it all the way through the Fat Boys movie, Disorderlies?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm
efd:

thank YOU, Mildred! And howdy to G, john, and EL! (I have not seen any, let alone all, of Disorderlies.)
  9:31pm
john:

Hey Evan!

If you're playing their records, you owe it to yourself to catch Disorderlies.
  9:32pm
EL:

Pretty crazy to think of how popular they were back then. That was a great track.
  9:32pm
Holly in NC:

I heard this opening riff on tinny phone speakers 2 rooms away - I had NO idea anyone but me knew about the Wild Seeds! Dang, Evan! And hello & thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm
efd:

ha, john, I was kind of figuring that now that the topic's come up.
  9:33pm
john:

You'll be glad you did. Probably.
  9:33pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Holly!
Now you know that if ANYONE else is going to know of a band, it's EFD! :)
  9:34pm
Danne D:

NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE FUNK :)
  9:35pm
Kat in Chicago:

Holly, I'm trying to remember when and how I first heard this song, as the name Wild Seeds means nothing to me at this point. But I remember it vividly, perhaps because there are so few odes (?) to male sexual inadequacy in rock music ;)
  9:36pm
Danne D:

Hi Holly :)

Packing up now - getting the hell out of work
  9:36pm
Holly in NC:

(collecting myself) Hi everyone!
Re The Fast: super great chapter in Jake Austin's Rocktober book 'Flying Saucers Rock N' Roll'. Whole book is excellent.
  9:37pm
G:

@Kat; Few, but there's Genesis "Counting Out Time" from the _Lamb_ album (in keeping with the 70s aspect of this show)
  9:38pm
Kat in Chicago:

And personal fave, Art Brut's "Rusted Guns of Milan".
  9:40pm
Holly in NC:

Poempromo by The Motors!
  9:41pm
john:

Who would win a race, The Fast or The Quick?
  9:42pm
G:

Quick, take a guess...
  9:42pm
Kat in Chicago:

I endorse Jake Austen's book as well. He is also beloved in Chicago and beyond as the puppeteer of Ratso, Miss Mia's sidekick on public access dance party Chic-A-Go-Go!
  9:42pm
Danne D:

I wonder if they are related to Cal Zone!

Really gone now for a while :)
  9:45pm
Holly in NC:

Mr. Softee! Loves Lies Limp! My Dog Can't Bark! Look ar Granny Run Run! We Didn't Make it Through the Night! My Brush Won't Paint No More! Turn Turtle! My Husband's Got No Courage In Him! Any others?
  9:46pm
Kat in Chicago:

Holly... wow!
  9:48pm
Holly in NC:

Oh - and Stutter!
  9:48pm
G:

A favorite topic, apparently :-)
  9:50pm
PB:

Like this Woollen Kits track. Who are these guys?
  9:50pm
Kat in Chicago:

"Stutter" was the other song I was trying to think of. I don't even know some of the ones Holly named.
  9:50pm
Holly in NC:

No, was doing research earlier in the week - August Darnell & Maddy Prior both had birthdays, & I love their 2 songs above, which got me thinking. Just bizarre synchronicity.
  9:51pm
Kat in Chicago:

Oh that's right, you tweeted about "My Husband's Got No Courage In Him" the other day.
  9:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hey, the audio software Audacity is now generating and releasing rock songs!
  9:57pm
Holly in NC:

@G - sorry about your tooth! Are you in pain?
  9:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

KEVIN LEE & HEARTBEAT! Just heard this one, am LOVING this group!
  9:58pm
jmd:

Gotta certain Cheap Trick ring to it, for sure. Terrific! Thanks.
  9:59pm
Matt from Springfield:

@jmd: Yeah! Like the Cheap Trick that almost was!
  10:00pm
john:

Ahh, now THIS song is one of the 14 reasons why the Shoes album is my record of the year!
  10:02pm
G:

Nah, I have good dental genes. Six total fillings in forty-plus years of dentistry, and none for the last twenty years. I just had one wisdom tooth that they said was getting loose and had to go. No complications, just a minor dull ache at this point... Hard to type comments with one hand, they recommended ice on the cheek tonight "just in case"... But I'd rather have been listening to the radio and reading this afternoon...
  10:04pm
Matt from Springfield:

Bring on The Shoes! In all their Shoesyness!
Shoesie and the Banshees!
  10:04pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

I thought "Hot Mess" was priceless.
  10:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

If you can't make that show tomorrow, 8 pm (EDT) is a nationwide showing of "Manos Hands of Fate" with the MST3K people doing live commentary in theaters! Being in NoVA, that's where I'm going to be!
(But if you're in the NYC area, please see the show :)
  10:11pm
Barkevious Shabazz:

Also, catch Crime, perforning their smash hit,"Gangster Funk."
  10:12pm
Kat in Chicago:

Done with work, off to a show. Good night Funksters!
  10:13pm
Holly in NC:

Good night Kat! You never sleep, do you? ;-)
  10:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

Cool fadeout!
  10:16pm
Holly in NC:

Oh cool, I just dled this Virginia Plain single from their bandcamp
  10:19pm
Holly in NC:

Which w/b http://virginiaplain.bandcamp.com/
Free download!
  10:20pm
PB:

I was out walking the dog so I didn't actually here the Swamp Thing track. Was it a cover of the Roxy Music track? Speaking of Roxy, they have finally gotten the full box treatment. I think the release date is August 28.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm
efd:

hi PB, nope, that was their own song with that title. You also may not have heard me mention that Woollen Kits are from Australia, but that's about all I know about them.
  10:23pm
PB:

Scratch that last comment. I take it the band is Virginia Plain and the track is Swamp Thing. Don't mind me, not getting enough sleep obviously.
  10:27pm
Holly in NC:

@PB - It's not the Chameleons song either.
Both are great.
So is the Alan Moore run of the comic ;-)
  10:28pm
PB:

@holly, yeah I remember that Chameleons song.
  10:32pm
