cool fool:

herro - having a new bike after more than a year of searching for one after the old one got stolen... not more than a couple weeks of buying it, and seeing it a couple hours ago locked outside my flat, I just see a couple snapped wires and a missing bike... I should've learned a lesson
Avatar 12:17am
Joe McG:

What a sad story! Once someone put two of their own locks around my bike in an effort to steal it later, I imagine. Luckily, a friend had a hacksaw and handily destroyed both of 'em. The bike was saved, only to meet an untimely end soon after at the "hands" of a car door.
  12:19am
cool fool:

car door?
Avatar 12:20am
Joe McG:

Yeah, somebody opened one! Bad for bike. Bad for me.
  12:21am
cool fool:

what is really lame of me, is that my next door neighbor's bike, no longer appeared there, because all that lied was a chain and a padlock, and I for some reason just assumed he lost the key and decided to crack it open. whatever. whatever = stolen bike.
  12:22am
Destroit:

Hello Joe and everyone.
  12:22am
cool fool:

probably most gutting feeling is that out of the last 3 times my bike has been stolen, I was not more than 4 meters away whilst it happened
Avatar 12:23am
Joe McG:

Once my dad put in a security camera to catch people who kept scratching his car. What happened? They smashed the camera! Oh well. Hi, Destroit!
  12:24am
cool fool:

so I've really learned the lesson in that, however much you pay for a bike, you gotta spend at least half of that on locks....
  12:25am
cool fool:

heh, not the most inspiring topic for humanity I guess
Avatar 12:27am
Joe McG:

We can't leave our bikes unlocked anymore!
  12:28am
cool fool:

well, locking them isn't enough, seems like you gotta put as much weight in locks to keep the weight of a bike safe
  12:29am
Holly in NC:

Hi Joe & all! Ron Mael's bday was a couple days ago...you probably know that...
Avatar 12:31am

Hey, Holly! I guess you'd call that a Mael delivery!

I didn't, but now I know!

Joe, it was Christmas in August here yesterday. i just wanted to thank you, the station and the all djs who spent time and effort putting it together. Fittingly, it is all in a Christmas shopping bag now until the elves sort it out.

Lovely Power Pop last set, looking' forward to the big records with little holes!!!
Hi Joe! Hi everyone!!
  1:29am
Parq:

I stumbled onto the tail end of Valley Girl on TV one night, Josie C doing "Johnny Are You" and a rather elegant fade out to "Melt With You". Much worse has been committed to celluloid.
  1:30am
Parq:

This set is six flavors of neat-o, by the way.
Avatar 1:34am
Joe McG:

Hey, Matt! Hope you're well. @Parq: Thanks. Totally agree with you about the music in "Valley Girl." I think the only one to compete with it is the Jon Cusack one I can never remember the name of. Oh yeah: "Say Anything"!
  1:35am
Ashok:

Great! Loved that Native Hipsters track. Lots of standout excellent music.
  1:35am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: Speaking of the tail end of old movies, I saw the tail end of Xanadu one night on cable recently. Actually a good fantasy-musical.

Avatar 2:22am
Joe McG:

@Danne D: Glad you got your swag finally! We do our best, but we're a bit late this year...
  2:31am
Danne D:

@Joe McG it's totally worth it and understandable :) Props for the recycled packing boxes (seriously - you guys do an amazing job of stretching the pledge dollars and making each one go as far as possible). The ambition that goes into each personalized package of swag, the assortment of premiums and prizes, all done with such a huge volunteer component in terms of processing - it's truly extraordinary. I can't think of any similarly sized entity that goes to 1/100th of the trouble. It takes a lot of organizing and there are bound to be snafus along the way, so I totally understand :)

Thanks for the Swagmas wishes, Matt :)

@Danne and Matt: The nice thing is that so many listeners are so cool about it. The percentage of folks howling bloody murder is astonishingly low.
