Billy Jam:

In addition to playing some old school hip-hop plus Irish & UK hip-hop on WFMU on today's one-hour show I will also present a live half-hour freestyle beats n turntablism session with DJ DnZ, and beatmakers Dawgisht and Bomani -all pictured here on playlist at the session recorded at Hip Hop Slam Oakland a few months ago. This is the never before aired outtake bonus session recorded live with no overdubs (just a couple of edits on the curse words).

other david:

loving this, Billy!
  7:29pm
Caryn:

@Jimmy & To Caryn: It's just that most of the Irish hip-hop I've heard has had less pronounced regional accents. Hearing a strong accent rapping about their "loife" is fabulous when you can hear it.
Avatar 7:33pm
Billy Jam:

hey Caryn - be sure to tune into the Irish special in 3 weeks when most of the music (and interviews and freestyles) I will be playing is new Dublin hip-hop and HEAVY on the accents
  7:34pm
Caryn:

I know, Billy, got that pencilled into my calendar already :)

hey Other David - thanks for tuning in

Billy Jam:

Timmmmmmmayyyyy!
  7:37pm
other david:

The horrible thing is, you'd get a lot of people here in Ireland sneering at people using their real accents when singing/mc'ing.

And a lot of Irish bands seem to want to pretend they're from the US, rather than sounding.. err Irish!
  7:38pm
Caryn:

Also gotta give props to you, Billy, for playing the more political Irish hip-hop. More interesting than the more run-of-the-mill party stuff.
  7:38pm
other david:

So yeah, real accents = win
  7:38pm
Timi Dz Nutz:

BBBIIIIILLLLLYYYYY....Shit I was just near your house. I'm miss'n out.1.!
