Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from September 25, 2012 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Hey Brian, If I'm correct, saw you arrive at ATP with Lee Renaldo & co. Would've said hi but was trying to chat with Magic Band members after the show. Couldn't stay for most of the later bands. Any performances of note that you saw? Where you there all 3 days. Magic Band and Oh Sees were tops.

@paul: I imagine the Prutsers "My Generation" as music "the Gumbys" from Monty Python would enjoy listening to.

Nice Italian[?] 70s rock.

Oh yeah, I do recall you taking the pic with Drumbo and Shelley. Cool. Nice guy but one guy was sort hogging all his time with all the autographs. Oh well. Seemed like a surprisingly light turnout overall, from what I saw. But a very cool location.

Neal "Batman" Hefti!
@Joe: Since it's a "black comedy" satire, I'll take your word for it and try to sneak a peek!
  4:10pm
green mountain man mark:

@Lucas- tomatoes it is. a kind of tomato soup with fresh tomatoes in a veggie soup stalk I made last weekend from kale stems, onions, and a bunch of veggie food scraps. going to make some spring roll wraps with some lettuce from our garden and some cucumbers. But that won't make much for stains.

I am going to bring the shirt to the record fair this year and wear it again while we load the trucks full of records and stuff. I did that last year and it got a hole in it from that, I think.

Matt from Springfield:

Hi Carm!
  4:14pm
northguineahills:

Good gravy, mountain man mark, that sounds awesome. I just finished up some huitlacoche/potatoe/jalapeno soup from our garden chilies, tonight I'm trying jamaican veggie goat curry using herbs and scotch bonnets from my fire escape garden.
  4:16pm
Tom G:

hoping you play Do You Wanna twice in a row!
  4:17pm
Lucas:

@green mountain man mark: I like spring rolls :)
  4:17pm
Carmichael:

I must be the balancing factor on this list when it comes to food. There are some healthy-eating vegetarian types, and then there's me. I relaize I talk about babyback ribs and filet mignon a lot.
  4:21pm
green mountain man mark:

yeah: I used to be a vegetarian for a couple of years, then it wasn't bacon that did me in like many, for me it was whole head on sardines. Then from there I went to eating the whole animal, if you are going to eat it, like the heads became my favorite part. Then I got fat from eating too many pigs heads. Now I don't eat any animals but for some seafood, and will probably eat some deer this year. I lost 60 pounds of pig head meat that was on my body.
  4:22pm
Lucas:

I dislike heads
  4:23pm
Matt from Springfield:

Bobby Boyd for Congress!!!!!
  4:24pm
rob t.:

+1 Bobby Boyd Congress!
  4:25pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Carm: There are many veges on the comment boards--but also many "meatheads" like yourself and I. But always, always, talking about food in any case!
  4:26pm
Matt from Springfield:

Sonny SharROCKS!
I like your selections of jazz, Brian! You should dig some out more often! :)
  4:28pm
JT:

Thank you for playing Sonny Sharrock.
  4:31pm
northguineahills:

My gf is a veggie, therefore I only eat meat when I eat out or go to my friends. That said, I'll eat most parts of any animal so that it won't go to waste. Jamaican goat head soup is pretty darn tastey, and salted sauteed crickets (oaxacan style) make a good snack when sipping mezcal.
  4:36pm
rob t.:

i am an omnivore who tries to focus on veg/vegan-style eating. no ethical problems with killing animals here but the environmental impact of eating industrial meat is pretty damn terrible.
  4:36pm
northguineahills:

What about Sonny Sharrock's music to the theme song for Space Ghost Coast to Coast, when was that recorded?
  4:38pm
green mountain man mark:

@4:31 northguineahills: cool. plus that stuff sounds tasty. @Matt-yes, it does seem to be that many of us that appreciate the finierest things in life like food also appreciate wfmu.
  4:43pm
Lucas:

rob t.: indeed
  4:46pm
the glowing one:

what's funny is I don't recognise the song or the singing or playing, but I recognise that guitar sound
  4:46pm
green mountain man mark:

yes, indeed rob t. plus the quality is not the greatest of mass produced meat. If you are going to eat some meat make it really good, right? Like from an animal that was raised right near your own home and you could also go there and look the animal in his/her eyes and tell tehm in person "I am going to eat your head when the time comes!"
  4:49pm
rob t.:

amen, mr. green mountain man mark. personally, i think you should be able to look into the eyes of an animal that you are going to eat. it's only right.
  4:51pm
northguineahills:

That's why I personally slaughtered a chicken which I later ate when I took an animal science class as an undergrad.
  4:53pm
dan lactose:

@northguineahills it was released in 1994, according to discogs.com so it must have been recorded shortly before he passed away.
  4:53pm
rob t.:

there has been this whole butchery fad going on amongst foodies. killing your own meat is now hip, so i hear.
  4:58pm
green mountain man mark:

while I am on here and taking a break here and there whilst I cook. I am also building a small shoe box sized thingy to have at the record fair for people to look at and see if they are one of a few people that sneeze at the sun or other bright light. Station manager Ken is one of those people and a few other listeners and DJs I think. I will be at the fair with the box. And I also wonder if some of us BT fans have a nasty BT T-shirt that if you get next to it causes a sneeze in some people.

@GMMM: I'm one of those who sneezes at the sun or sudden bright lights.

I thought they spoke Dutch in Suriname.
  5:06pm
green mountain man mark:

@5:01 northguineahills: Will you be at the record fair?
  5:11pm
green mountain man mark:

want to acknowledge that I am listening to the show, Brian and enjoying it. Even though I am trying to connect with other listeners of the show about the sneezing at the sun thing for the fair.
  5:12pm
northguineahills:

If I get a job before then and now.
  5:18pm
green mountain man mark:

@5:03 rob t.: We have also been compared to those people in those MIB movies who are not affected by those sticks that they use to erase peoples memories. Kind of cool but also a curse in a way if you don't know how to handle it all.
  5:24pm
Matt from Springfield:

Busy, but like good ol' green mountain man mark want to acknowledge my listening of the show, and enjoyment thereof.
  5:26pm
Mike East:

enjoyment acknowledged here, as well.

If this is ok Brian. Anyone wanting to help with the sneezing at the sun, or other bright light, such as wfmu, BT shirt they can contact me viola Facebook. I guess?

Whoops. The revelation happens when using an iPhone. I always be the ayatollah during Rex's show.

Maybe I need to change my name to the ayatollah of rock and rolla one in the green mountains.
  5:51pm
green mountain man mark:

Either way I will be down there for the record fair with brawn. And with the sneeze box. Or plural.
