mickey's big mouth after 5th period, smokin menthols, you're playin' my high school soundtrack Billy !! hell ya!
  7:15pm Billy Jam:

hey EONS -hey TIMMIIII hello Other David - This music represents a certain time in the history of the Bay mostly Oakland and SF - the end of the 80;s when crack had messed up Oakland l- hence all the references to the demon drug - It was also a time before the Bay blew up in terms of rap - it was about to- at this stage Hammer and Short were big - and Digital Underground were blowing up too...Paris just got signed to Tommy boy so the release I play here is on his own indie label Scarface Records -
  7:16pm Icewater:

Yo Billy are you going to archive this show? Please do if you can.
  7:18pm Timi Dz Nutz:

  7:19pm Billy Jam:

HEY LUKE SICK - Hi ICEWATER Yep all shows are archived forever.....Most of the artists played today had been guests on my radio show at the time on KALX - and the call-in raps were a regular thing that I did and loved doing - am gonna be playing some more today and doing a whole show of them here in few weeeks
  7:23pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Humpty's cool!
  7:23pm Caryn:

This show is definitely a walk down memory lane.
  7:28pm Billy Jam:

At this time as well as doing a radio show dedicated to this music I was also writing for magazines about this music (Bay Area rap) and starting to do rap TV shows too - I totally emersed myself in Bay Area rap world - interviewing all of these artists been played today and many more and getting all the music including tons of demo tapes and great recordings that never made it....-Hence if I had to pick only one genre of music that I totally relate to - the one closest to my heart out of all genres - this would be it. Hell yeah I HEART BAY RAP
  7:30pm Luke $ick:

casual and too $hort and a couple other guys rapped over a remake of that dame song for casual's smash rockwell release, no? Almost sounds like a total cover now that I hear the original again, thorough as usual Billy
  7:32pm Eons One:

woah, was just wondering if Paris was gonna make an appearance.
  7:39pm Billy Jam:

hey LUKE - yeah that is right - they did a tribute to it - great Oakland anthem from Dame - who you may recall - had someone slip him LSD at a party and totally sent him into the mental ward (also name of one of his later releases when he hooked up with Master P's No Limit records - when in the Bay)
