the glowing one:

this interview is a bit... different.

It's weird to hear Nardwuar being so persistent in whatever wrongness he feels from Ian from a show that happened over 30 years ago...The show sounds like it was successful, so why is he badgering so much about it?

Sfrances: Thanks for thee comment! I wanted to get his thoughts on the show as i had just shown him video footage of the concert dug out from the archives so it was even fresher in my mind. The show was actually 22 years ago, and is something that i will never forget and although just one show for Fugazi , it was something that changed my life! Doot doola doot doo ,,,

Right on, it was just odd! I'm enjoying the interivew, I was at the Minor Threat /TroubleFunk show, i'm an ex-DC native/have photos in Banned in DC book.
I'm really happy that the show was a life changing experience for you! I felt that way the first time I saw NoMeansNo! ;)

thanks for the link! Indeed, it was a great show! So was Trouble Funk/Government Issue where we got the roads for Trouble Funk to stage dive! (this was pre-Minor Threat show, the guys hadn't seen stage diving before). ps: I miss getting to see NMN ,Show Business Giants (RIP) etc in Vancouver/etc. Did you go to the Incentive /Scott Henderson celebration? (I feel like a Canadian poseur at the moment...!)

nardwuar:

sfrances: i didn't know about that! you know so much sfrances !

it's because i'm friends with Andy (original NMN guitarist) and Scott and the Victoria/Vancouver music mafia: but I didn't know about the SNFU book! ;)

congrats on getting a "doot doot" from Ian! I can understand where he's coming from in terms of interview style vs conversation/etc.

Good God, I'd almost forgotten about this show. What a clusterfuck it was. That was the first show I remember the mosh pit becoming an actually violent thing. Ian was mightily pissed at the show - just a grouchy fuck about the stagediving and the violent moshing: "This is not a Minor Threat show!" About half the crowd was on board with just digging the show and half the crowd were just there to fight and "be punk" or whatever. So chaotic and bad vibes, but I do recall Fugazi being pretty amazing, when they managed to get through a song. The general vibe was not helped by Grant having stormed offstage about 3 songs into the Smugglers' opening set. Doot doot.
