Is this thing on?
So here's the deal: WFMU is holding a silent online fundraiser for the entire month of October, imaginatively title
d "WFMU's 31 Days Of October". It's a silent fundraiser because unlike our annual fundraising marathon in the spring, the DJs are not pitching on mic. The thinking behind this is that doing an on-air beg-a-thon twice a year is unconscionable and annoying, even if we offer better prizes, more interesting inane chatter, nicer tote bags, etc. than some of our public and/or college radio counterparts. It's too bad that we have to do it at all, but as WFMU expands its scope to include all sorts of goodies like, for example, the Rock & Soul Ichiban webstream from which my show spews forth, and as upkeep of the Jersey City building that houses the WFMU studios becomes increasingly expensive, the station's yearly operating budget becomes ever-larger while the amount of money we are able to raise every year during the marathon has more or less reached a plateau.

If you can make a donation of any amount to WFMU in general, or to my show in particular, it will be deeply appreciated (and rewarded with bumper stickers, T-shirts and so forth, depending on the size of your pledge).

Anybody out there?
Ralph And Susan (UK):

This Viva Rock and roll song is crying out for a cover version
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm

Hi RSUK. Norton Recording artists the Church Keys have covered this song in their inimitable style (RIP Bill Peitsch).

you make a sound come out my computer! Cropper was really killing it on that Green Onions version

I gladly donated yesterday, and I'd like to see other Ichiban listeners do the same. C'mon gang, do your part in supporting this great radio station!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm

McGoo! Yeah, Cropper tears that one up. Thanks Tom, and thanks in advance to anyone else who cares to pledge...

Just sent a pledge your way-cause this show bloody rocks--I done done it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm

Bless yr heart Sean. Hi Dominick!

Before I send my pledge - What's the price point on a Friendly from Fiveash?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm

That's on the house, Mikey.

Bless your Soul
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm

Just try not to get any on my shoes this time.

Well don't where your flippers this time.

Debbie D:

Where else on the internet dial are you gonna hear Slim Harpo and George Jones played on scratchy 45s?!

ain't nothing wrong with this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm

Hiya Debbie! Hey everybody it's the Ichiban boss lady herself!
Debbie D:

Hello! Wish I could listen to this mess in real time...
Ralph And Susan (UK):

Right on RSUK! Thanks!
Matt from Springfield:

Hey Fiveash! Don & Dewey are killin' it till well after dawn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm

Hi MFS...
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, interesting message song from Andre Williams!
(Reno 911! once had a fake PSA touting their state-by-state "age of consent card"!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm

A helpful cautionary tale.
Matt from Springfield:

"Come on baby, I don't know how many more times I'm gonna let this go!"
Matt from Springfield:

Lulu & the Luvvers! Old stuff from pop singer Lulu! I have an MP3 of her covering "Shout" from '64 with the Luvvers.

If I had a nickel for every time I had to play this song, I'd have 15 cents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm

MFS- Forget Me Baby is the flipside of Shout.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm

Mikey, soon you'll be a quarteraire!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm

Hey everybody, as the show winds down let me once again (off-mic, of course) direct your attention to the pledge widget on the upper left of this page. Thanks to everyone who pledged so far.
Matt from Springfield:

@Fiveash: Cool to know.
Richard D:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm

If you insist, ha ha! Thanks man.

I'm a bad boy.
Matt from Springfield:
