Julie:

Morning Rachel, Michael & T-Zero! Yes..feeling in need of the aural sedation tonight, hope you enjoy :) (oh and don't forget our fundraising!)
  3:11am
T-Zero:

I've been on an Arcana, Raison D'être, Rome, Sephiroth, and sToa binge recently, so I can add Claire Voyant to my wish list.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:12am
Julie:

Oooh great collection.
  3:15am
T-Zero:

Oh, I left out Autumn Tears and Autechre
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:18am
Julie:

Ahhh don't know Autechre yet. If you want to go euro neofolk, check out Ordo Equitum Solis
  3:19am
T-Zero:

Will do! Thanks
  3:24am
T-Zero:

Ah, Renaissance, another blast from my past. Unfortunately they're forever associated with my first acid trip.
  3:28am
Glovanie:

Good morning Julie and everyone else.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:29am
Julie:

Morning, Glovanie. Not a good trip I take it?
  3:33am
T-Zero:

@Julie: Not one of the worst, but memorable... too long a story, but notable as one where afterwards I thought to myself, wow, I can't believed I didn't get killed...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:34am
Julie:

You didn't get killed=happy memory!
  3:36am
fred von helsing:

Annie Haslin <3 rats I missed it
  3:36am
T-Zero:

Robyn Hitchcock is someone else who has really perked my interest lately from hearing him on FMU. Wasn't familiar with him. ---- Yes! That's good. All I really remember is following the white dashed lines on the freeway going home. No other image, just white dashes on black pavement ... No idea how I actually made it home :D

hiya FVH!

T-Zero if you can find it, grab the heavenly voices box set. Changed my musical life :)
  4:01am
T-Zero:

Interesting looking track list...
  4:08am
T-Zero:

Is the 2 CD box taken from the 5 CD series?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:15am
Julie:

It's the same series, but the boxset came out first, then the other volumes later. The other discs can't touch it, in my opinion. They started really reaching, putting people like Heather Nova (whom i like) on it
  4:17am
T-Zero:

Ah ok. Thanks!
  4:37am
T-Zero:

Ok. Will have to catch the rest on archive as I've faded out... thanks for the show and the tips Julie
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 4:37am

Thanks for coming by, T-Zero! :)
  4:38am

Yeah, I'd come by more often, but lately even staying up for Mary has been a struggle :( Ok. I'm off.

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:15am

FVH I really had a blast with that. I've thought about who else I could've done that long with, and I don't think I could match it. @MK nice! Pictures???
  5:18am
pierre:

ohh how i learn to listen to the Moody Blues thanks to you Julie.
Didn't know a lot about this band.

Loved the Camel too

Yesterday i listened to a vast selection of Kinks records, made me think of the dark night of the soul. :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:18am
Julie:

Oh and the thought of doing radio in front of Gaylord is daunting!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:18am
Julie:

and what Kinks era, Pierre? Before or after the Gaylord cutoff point?
  5:23am
pierre:

it was the following records: "Kinda Kinks"; "Muswell Hillbillies"; "Part One Lola Versus Powerman And The Moneygoround"; "Something Else By The Kinks"; "the Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society"; "You Really Got Me"; "The Kink Kontroversy".

But my favourite song (regarding that i'm in that kind of mood) is "Nothin' in the World Can Stop Me From Worryin' 'Bout That Girl"
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:25am
Julie:

oooh good song, and great albums!
  5:27am
Matt from Springfield:

Hi there Julie!
Bonjour pierre and everybody! NICE meeting Ray Davies, MK!
  5:27am
pierre:

these are the ones that i own. But what did you meant by "Gaylord cutoff point" ? I'm afraid, i'm not very knowledgeable on the Kinks.
  5:28am
Matt from Springfield:

Never heard this Donovan one, it does sound like Sunshine Superman era. @Julie: So, is THIS song before or after the Gaylord cut-off point? :)
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:29am
Julie:

This would be before his cutoff, Matt. Pierre I explained that the other dj, Gaylord, he only likes Kinks from the 60s. I think Village Green or Lola may be the cutoff point. Not sure, I'll find out Sunday!
  5:31am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: I'll listen to the Archive (I *always* do!), but I take it you're doing a show with Gaylord this Sunday, or filling-in for him?
  5:32am
Matt from Springfield:

Also, first time I've heard this "Rosewater"--Beautiful!! :)
  5:32am
fred von helsing:

The one, the only Olivia Neutron-Bomb
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:33am
Julie:

oh, we are doing the show together, Matt. This week AND next. See the upcoming events, Kinks Konfrontation!
  5:33am
Art Fern:

Go to the Gaylord Cutoff... and cut off your Gaylord !
  5:34am
pierre:

aaah Gaylord Fields the FMU dj !! ahhaha… and i was trying to search of the kinks wiki page thing about a forgottent musician called Gaylord… me and my nerdiness…

Well i've already heard that theory about the Kinks not being good at some point. I wouldn't know, and wouldn't be able to judge, but it's true that having records from 64 to 98; i keep listening to 1964 > 1970 (with Lola).
  5:36am
Matt from Springfield:

Konfront Gaylord with the stuff after 1970! That sure sounds like fun, two Kinks episodes!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:38am
Julie:

I hope so!
  5:39am
Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: Who is, "Watcher of the Chatboards"?
  5:40am
Matt from Springfield:

"A CASE OF YOU"!! Everybody sing! Julie would insist, and that you try for the high notes as well! :)
  5:42am
pierre:

i could try Matt, butt my neighbours does karate !
  5:43am
fred von helsing:

MvS: Hmm welllll, here's an interpretation of "Watcher of the Skies": "A tale of an extraterrestrial, or perhaps even that of a deity, that has come down to the earth to witness 'the end of man's long union with earth'. This alien watcher, saddened by the destruction of the earth by man's own hands, returns to his unknown place (or state) of being, convinced that mankind is bent on self-destruction and can only look on helplessly as the rest of the universe continues to evolve ('Sadly now your thoughts turn to the stars/Where we have gone you know you never can go')." So, who fills that role at WFMU??
  5:44am
fred von helsing:

ear candy, fueled by nose candy
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:45am
Julie:

and eye candy as well!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:46am
Julie:

Oh I see Meghan coming down her waterslide
  5:47am
Matt from Springfield:

@pierre: Oh, wait until you're in the shower then, the noise will mask that! ;)
@FVH: Great premise! But, if anything WFMU *IS* the Watcher of the Radio, convinced that the rest of the radio community is destroying itself...
  5:48am
fred von helsing:

eye candy oh my yes / with candied elven nose
  5:50am
Matt from Springfield:

@Julie: I've been reading here about the new NY-NJ Waterslide public transport! Good for when you need to get somewhere fast, and don't mind getting wet. The only problem is, how do you stop?!

Candy all over on this show! Combine all of the above with a bed of candy to lie on, taking in this aural valium like candy!
  5:50am
fred von helsing:

MvS: RIGHT ON! Heh cool. And Ken is the commander of Battlestar Newjersica. Which reminds of of a very silly song I found yesterday...
  5:52am
fred von helsing:

@MvS The Sound of Cylons! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMUezhpuEoE
  5:52am
Matt from Springfield:

Does WFMU have this Soft Cell album, or do you bring it in?
You've certainly expanded what I know about Soft Cell!
  5:53am
Matt from Springfield:

@FVH: D'oh! ;) But what is YT for, if not connecting you with silly songs!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:53am
Julie:

oh no Cylons! Thanks for listening everyone! Listen on Sunday, 5-7 where I'll be on with Gaylord! :) And give to the silent but noisy fundraiser!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 5:54am

I have a compilation I play sometimes, this is the original that the station has. This song was in my head all week, something reminded me of it
  5:54am

Aye, I've got Clear Channel in my sights! I'll blast the bastards to atoms!
  5:55am
Scottie:

But Kommander! The listeners can't take much more of this abuse!
  5:55am
Matt from Springfield:

Blast 'em, Ken!
Give 'em some of this tune!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56am
