Morning Faye and Good Afternoon too!

Hallo Faye!
I think I have Scott's premium - haven't listened to it yet...
Avatar 9:17am

Góðan dag mark, BGZ, UK Mark & maestroso! I am fond of Scott M's premium.
  9:24am
Krypt:

Hello Faye, it's good to be able to catch you, my Thursday schedule seems to conspire to keep me away from my workspace when your (excellent) show is on.
  9:25am
dcp@:

oh yeah, the good Chromatics. These guys were great.
  9:26am
dcp@:

going to see OFF! tonight! WWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Any Keith Morris stuff on you Faye?
Avatar 9:26am
Faye:

ahh Krypt, good to see you!
totally dcp. totally.
  9:27am
dcp@:

what's the story with the Chromatics? seems like they were around for about a year and then vanished.
  9:29am
northguineahills:

Bedhead was one of my favorite bands, and were good live. Too bad the current incarnation, "The New Year", doesn't quite do it for me.
  9:29am
Sean:

Bedhead has made my day.
Avatar 9:30am
Faye:

eh yeah New Year's ok. dcp ach no keith morris on hand but maybe I can figure something out...I'm inspired. no guarantees though
  9:32am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Chromatics released a new album this year. It was their first since 2007. They did release a few single between the two albums.
  9:35am
northguineahills:

Vaselines!
  9:36am
Andrew:

Isn't it time to make FMU an all indie-pop station? At least on Thursdays :)
  9:36am
DCE:

Vaselines, lubing up my Thursday morning! slippery!
  9:36am
GZ:

Let me second that VASELINES!
  9:37am
DCE:

indie pop is in short supply at WFMU--glad to have Faye doing what she does.
  9:37am
fred von helsing:

This is a rather sublime piece of pop despite the 80s gloss
  9:39am
seang:

saw Sloan the other night--blew my mind!
  9:40am
DCE:

I haven't seen Sloan since maybe 2005...those were some great live shows.
Avatar 9:40am
Faye:

ooh I like these pro indiepop comments!
  9:41am
Arcade Fire:

Don't get so excited. We suck.
  9:41am
Mark in the UK:

I second the indiepop comments!
  9:42am
Vampire Weekend:

Now that you mention it, we do too.
  9:43am
DCE:

yeah but the late 90s/early 00s were very good years for indie pop...after that it got all "Death Cab" glossy.
  9:44am
The Primitives:

We, on the other hand, are perfect.
  9:44am
fred von helsing:

Oh but things are looking up. There's a lot of good stuff out there nowadays. I do avoid Pitchfork.
  9:45am
HEAT:

I like a bunch of indie pop bands but I am excited for what the backlash/push back era is going to sound like
  9:46am
fred von helsing:

West End Girls, rendered sideways
  9:47am
dcp@:

BGZ: thanks for the tip.
  9:49am
Cheri Pi:

I'm in the House today, but behind the Scenes, Hi Faye, Hi Faye's''s children!!
  9:52am
Krypt:

Loving "indiepop" is a requirement if you live in Glasgow (and have a modicum of taste). I, of course, luv it lots.
  9:52am
fred von helsing:

Whoops I was listening to UWTP again! Windoze Media Player is dumber than a stump, you pause it and it rewinds instead of going back to the live stream, WTF
  9:53am
fred von helsing:

The indie pop channel on soma.fm tends sound kinda one-note tho :-(
  9:54am
dcp@:

nah BGZ I think you're talking about the OTHER Chromatics. The good Chromatics were just a blip from the east coast somewhere and then I think they changed their name to Kromatics or something because of the OTHER Chromatics....hard to find anything out about them. I have their album and Faye played the CORRECT Chromatics...
  9:54am
Mark in the UK:

Wow! Bluetrain on WFMU. Jo and Danny from the band now organise The Green Man Festival in Wales!
Avatar 9:58am

Thanks Faye
  10:00am
fred von helsing:

I'm gonna be having nightmares about Listener KP
  10:01am
dcp@:

Chromatics update: so they are the same group. It's just that there's only one original member and they blow now.
  10:04am
Cecile:

seang, I would love to see them again.
they are so tough live, and the Canadians in the audience are insane - in a polite, well-groomed way.
  10:06am
Cecile:

There's a Toy Love 2-LP reissue for pre-order on Flying Nun. I am debating whether I want to pay $40 US for it...
  10:09am
Cecile:

Pink Floyd have as much great as they have had bad.
  10:09am
john:

My favorite Pink Floyd cover is Mary Lou Lord's version of Fearless.
  10:10am
northguineahills:

Is Sloan good again? "Pretty Together" was pretty blah, and I've stopped following them ever since. Aren't they doing "Twice Removed" on this tour?
  10:11am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

@dcp: Blame "Drive."
  10:12am
Ike:

Oh yeah, "Obey the New Wave" was a great DJ premium. I have that one.

On another note, I love Arcade Fire.
  10:12am
Cecile:

Pretty Together was how I got into Sloan.
The songs are better live. That was a a great tour.
  10:12am
yukamichi:

You're right, this is the best Pink Floyd cover I've ever heard. I want to believe that somebody was rattling their keys in front of the mic for the sound of the cash register at the beginning.
  10:13am
dcp@:

I guess, I missed that whole thing...they use to be dischordant--GangofFoury--MarkESmithy. Now they're just boring. Anyways, Chrome Rats vs. Basement Rutz is a great album.
  10:15am
Chris from DC:

Oh cool, love that Human Music comp.
  10:15am
Mark in DC:

@yukamichi: Absolutely, bestest Pink Floyd ever. I could listen to them that way.
  10:16am
12539:

Is it wrong to already feel a tingle of excitement at the thought of a Hello Children premium in the spring?
Avatar 10:16am
Faye:

Chris from DC, succhhhh a good comp right
  10:16am
seang:

Sloan plays two sets, "Twice Removed" and then they come back for an epic set of hits, etc...great songs from "Never hear the end of it"
Avatar 10:16am
Faye:

12539 it is NOT wrong!
  10:22am
northguineahills:

Sweet, seang, the last I heard them live was in 2002.
  10:24am
seang:

yeah I'm still high from the show
  10:25am
Cecile:

I love those guys. I am a lame-o for not seeing them again.
  10:26am
DCE:

one ticket to the sexodrome, please
  10:26am
dcp@:

I gotta go back and give Sloan another try...everybody keeps raving about them but I never got it.
  10:28am
DCE:

just solid power-pop, dcp
  10:29am
dcp@:

I thought they were saying Sex Patrol..
  10:29am
dcp@:

maybe that's the problem DCE. Now this Sightings, I like.
  10:30am
Cecile:

dcp, see them live, and then if you like that, go to the records.
  10:30am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

This is like more focused [and longer] Gerogerigegege.
  10:31am
northguineahills:

Wow, this is rather poppy for Sightings. I saw them once in an a loft show, and the drummer had a huge piece of sheet metal that he eventually doused w/ a flammable liquid and set it ablaze. It was pretty cool as I was maybe less then 2 meters away.
  10:32am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

[my last comment was about the Sightings track]
  10:33am
Cecile:

well, maintain the twee.
I'm going to listen to some nature sounds. I'm beat.
  10:34am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

How can one not love this Royal Headache album?

It is Myaskovsky, as performed by Boris Lvov.
  10:51am
northguineahills:

I cheated w/ Shazam.
  10:51am

now why would a band want to call themselves "Courtney Love"?

I don't recognise the piano piece either. Nice, though!

Yes, Little Bird.
