Is that the Meters backing him up on this. Sure sounds like it.
Avatar 11:17am
Michael Shelley:

S - I dont think the meters, as a unit, are there till the "yes We Can" lp - they may play, individually, on earlier stuff - liker this, but not as a unit - but what do I know!?
  11:19am
Sean T.:

Sounds like you have a pretty good grasp.

re: Vocoder. This book had been recommended to me earlier this year by a friend when I started discussing Neil Young's TRANS with him. I just read a few excepts at Amazon and it is definitely now on my reading list.

Mike East:

Squeeze documentary was quite enjoyable last week. I think I need to get more than just the Singles 45's and Under collection...which I've never not seen in a record collection.
  11:48am
Mike East:

@Sean T - I believe the author of that was on Duane's show maybe 6 months or so ago. Worth checking out in the fmu archives.

Michael from the Left Coast:

Hey Michael--you and your show have made my day on many occasions. I see you posted the Squeeze documentary--have you seen the Stiff Records documentary (6 parts) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iSzS9lGBbo
  12:36pm
Ace from Al Ain:

@ Mike East

Where is the Squeeze doc? In the-aters, or DVD?

@DJ Can't believe you played the Shat's Common People! It came up last night at an Old 97s gig when the opening act, The Travolta's, gave off a deeply Jarvis-meets-Davies vibe. And was wearing, by the by, what appeared to be my older brother's brown-on-darker-brown prom tx from 1977.
  12:36pm
northguineahills:

How apropos is this, I'm wearing one of my WFMU tees while sipping a single malt out of WFMU shot glass while listening WFMU.
  12:39pm
Michael from the Left Coast:

Ace--Squeeze doc was on BBC4 two weeks ago, along with a live concert from 1982
  12:44pm
Mike East:

@Ace - There's a link to it right under the playlist on today's show.
  12:46pm
Mike East:

@ngh - sorry for the delay - was out on a walk. What kind of chilis did you use? In know you're fond of the scotch bonnets.
  12:52pm
Mike East:

michael- i've got access to a korg ms2000b and a microkorg - both have vocoders. email me. i also have studio space you can use to mess around with them
  12:53pm
northguineahills:

I put in some scotch bonnets and jalapenos from the garden, and some yams to put some sweet w/ the heat. Debating whether to put a stout in there, but I think it's sweet enough. Also put carrots corn, smoked pasillas chilies and home steamed tomatoes w/ (veggie) sauteed hamburger. It's not too hot, my ex is able to eat it.
  12:55pm
Mike East:

sounds perfect, ngh. makin me hungry
