If you're in the mood, lend a hand and try to raise my 'support' a 'lil, ok? It's rather low (as you see above) 37% is an 'F'!
  6:18am
hamburger:

greetings - ^ what Jason said ^
  6:25am
Sometimes Jasmine:

Morning Jason & hamburger. Looking forward to the Jesuthon!
Avatar 6:42am
DJelbogen:

Rather penetrating voice on this kid, eh?
  6:42am
hamburger:

^ what Sometimes Jasmine said ^

okay I'll stop
  6:48am
Sometimes Jasmine:

His voice reminded me straight away of the "there'll be no crippled girls in heaven" singer... their voices are really eerily similar. I suspect something sinister is going on.
  6:53am
Sometimes Jasmine:

In fact I'm pretty sure they recieved treatment at the same hospital which was haunted by the infamous Doctor Tongue who performed experimental vocal surgery on patients in the early 60s under the guise of "flu treatment"
  6:55am
hamburger:

Oh Sometimes Jasmine.. you went there... I had in mind a twisted A&R guy but chose not to dwell too much on that.
  6:56am
Caryn:

Speaking of distinctive voices... Sheesh, her vibrato sounds like she's hooked up to one of those old massage belts.
  6:56am
iliketurtles:

if this is web only, this wouldn't be what I heard on the station as I was driving, right?
  6:58am
hamburger:

You would be hearing JM in the AM if you were in the area iliketurtles I believe.
Avatar 7:00am
DJelbogen:

I just bought this pretty amazing LP by unknown 'Scott Small' (the song playing right now)
  7:01am
Sometimes Jasmine:

Caryn: maybe that's how they did vibrato back in the day?
Avatar 7:02am
DJelbogen:

So 37% for me is pretty anemic, and FMU's in a bit of an end-of-year financial crunch... [take this as you may!]
  7:17am
Mike East:

ah good, I didn't miss JCSS. Good morning and happy Friday!
Avatar 7:19am
DJelbogen:

Mike--next set I'll start with JCSS LP1 Side A!
  7:33am
Sometimes Jasmine:

Oooh goosepimples....
  7:35am
hamburger:

better than what I was expecting / I shouldn't be so assuming

  7:38am
Caryn:

My only concern is that in most productions, Judas is the strongest singer. Considering Judas' problems with high notes, this does not bode well for the other soloists...
  7:40am
Caryn:

Phew, next soloist sounds way better... (seriously, my stream is like 1.5 songs behind the playlist)
Avatar 7:41am
DJelbogen:

Hamburger--you don't trust me? I'm the one who brought Chief Koofreh into your life (I think?)
  7:42am
Mike East:

Has anyone mentioned "Jeepers Creepers Semi Star" from Mr. Show? When that first came out, my friend video taped it for me cuz I didn't have HBO and I was obsessed with it for a while. Almost as much as I was obsessed with "Porcupine Racetrack" from The State a few years earlier.
  7:43am
hamburger:

I guess I have trust issues - yes Chief Koooooofreh I want my moneys, Pay me now or street fight was quite a gift.
Avatar 7:45am
DJelbogen:

I need to get more aggressive like Chief Koofreh! as of right now the total my show has raised this month is less than half of what this double LP cost me!!! (not that I'm complaining, but seriously, if the listeners could pledge, that would make me look/feel a little better)
  7:55am
Sometimes Jasmine:

Really digging this... and kind of girlishly excited about listening to this for the first time with you guys, oh far flung flowers.
Avatar 7:58am
DJelbogen:

Imagine what it was like to be in that High School auditorium in 1982...
Avatar 8:00am
DJelbogen:

I mean, I don't want to parrot that annoying 'PLAY IT LOUD' cliche, but I would advise it here... high volume=big payoff with this, I think.
  8:01am
hamburger:

I like this one best so far
  8:07am
Caryn:

Holy crap! Just looked out the window for the first time today, and everything is covered in snow. Nice to be indoors listening to this.
Avatar 8:09am
DJelbogen:

Caryn--where are you?
  8:10am
Caryn:

Heh, that older-sounding man in "Damned for All Time" sounded like Alan Rickman when he had to "sing drunk" in a movie. With a different accent, of course.
@DJ: Finland

vonKristoff:

ayi ayi hamburger - great track!
OK - possible to buy Manasquan High School Chorus JCSS!? It's so wonderful and ive heard it loads on WFMU .. >>
Avatar 8:14am
DJelbogen:

VonK-- I think I'm the only one here who plays this (or has this) so you've must have heard it on my show...
LISTENERS : Let's try to push me above a 'passing grade (65%) ok? A couple of more small pledges will do it--thanks!!!
  8:24am
hamburger:

ouu they brought it back
  8:25am
mott:

i went to Manasquan High School...
  8:25am
vonKristoff:

Yes - well im always locked into WFMU ..
Amazing record - real magic to the ears! Cheers to your dusty fingers ;)

Avatar 8:28am
DJelbogen:

Mott- When did you go to MHS?
VonKristoff: Thanks, my fingers are a little dusty actually.
Everyone--if you can support my show, now's the last chance!
  8:28am
mott:

Jason- what year is this?
Avatar 8:29am
DJelbogen:

Mott--this was recorded/pressed in 1982
  8:29am
mott:

graduated 1988...but i remember going to see this in 8th grade before i signed up for Manasquan...mom dragged me to this
Avatar 8:31am
DJelbogen:

Mott - Wow! So, you were too young to appreciate ir?
  8:32am
hamburger:

broadway musical styley haha
Avatar 8:42am
DJelbogen:

We're getting closer to the goal: thanks! But 61% still fails most school tests; as a teacher, this makes me sad.
  8:45am
mott:

yes. i dont remember it being this off pitch
  8:46am
common:

wow!
  8:46am
hamburger:

I thought I put some humble money dollars through but maybe it was too humble to nudge the widget
  8:47am
Caryn:

The more Judas sings, the more I'm starting to suspect the director chose a weak singer for the part to make the character more unlikeable. Sorry, dude, whoever you are.
Avatar 8:49am
DJelbogen:

No Hamburger! We are over 65%...that's a 'D' grade in the USA. Congratulations and thanks! But everyone else, don't stop... 'D' is a pretty bad grade. You wouldn't want to eat Grade D meat, for instance...
  8:50am
hamburger:

It's moved! Let's do it people!
Avatar 8:51am
DJelbogen:

I'm a Solid C- now!
  8:53am
dcp@:

interesting observation Caryn--cuz' the Judas in the film is cool as hell, way cooler than Jesus.
  8:53am
dcp@:

..and hello.
  8:55am
df:

Don't change, we love you
  8:56am
dcp@:

Fabio just clears his throat first thing every time. It's what one expects. I'd think there would be something terribly wrong if he didn't..
  8:56am
Caryn:

@dcp: exactly! You can even understand his motivation, based on the lyrics. I somehow think that here they tried to tone down any sympathy people might feel for Judas by making him annoying to listen to. Cunning plan.
  8:57am
mott:

no... i always listen to FMU. but surprised to see Manasquan being played. i heard FMU play a track once before..
  8:57am
dcp@:

was definitely confusing to me as a kid--couldn't understand why Judas was used and then tossed aside to eternal damnation..
  8:58am
dcp@:

..and I didn't really like Deep Purple that much anyway..
  8:00pm
luke:

I love this version of JCSS...I wish I could find it somewhere to download...please let me know if there's an available link to get this for my collection, thank you SO much!
