  10:43am Artie:

G'morning, busyness.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52am charlie:

'morning, your Artie-ness.
  11:06am Vicki:

hi Charlie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am charlie:

Hi, Miss Vicki. How are things across the pond? I'm knee-deep in 7-inch records -- and they're rising -- aaaughhh!
  11:12am Vicki:

glad the weather didn't reach you this time - we got out of ny just before they shut it all down!
  11:16am Michael:

Morning! I see charlie and I see Artie and I see Vicki. Hope all of youse are well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am charlie:

I spy Michael with my magic eye!
Glad you escaped from NY in time, Vicki!
  11:18am Katya:

Hi, gang. Sad to hear the storm effected WFMU. Glad all is well in VT.
  11:19am Michael:

You escaped the storm charlie - good for you after last year. We lost power in Mass even though Sandy spared us the worst. My brother in NJ still no power - he's down by the shore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am charlie:

Hi Katya -- hope you stayed dry in Tucson :)
Michael -- best thoughts to your brother -- the shore sure got hit hard.
I think WFMU itself will be OK, but having both transmitters down is hard on radio listeners and the station. And the loss of the Record Fair income is a different kind of devastation :(
  11:56am ndbob:

heya Charlie and everyone!
  11:57am Katya:

Poor WFMU. Glad the DJs have all been accounted for now. What a mess. Here's hoping much needed donations start coming in soon. Posted donation info on Blogio Oddio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am charlie:

howdy bob! thanks, katya!
ok, fasten yer seatbelts everyone!
  12:02pm listener james from westwood:

howdy folks! charlie, if you or the stream is playing eddy grant, i'm listening live. my ISP has been refusing the stream until scott's show this a.m. hope all of you in sandy's path are OK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm charlie:

Hi James - yes Eddy Grant - you're in the stream!
  12:04pm Carmichael:

Hey there Chas. Hi everyone. Electric Avenue is an appropriate song for the downed power lines and mass wetness.
  12:04pm -max-:

Strapped in and powered up!
  12:05pm Doug S.:

I have never been happier to hear your voice, Charlie! (Of course I'll just say that next Thursday.)
  12:06pm Carmichael:

Katya, are you in Tucson? One of my favorite cities. I was at Davis Monthan way back when. Have I asked you this already? Where am I?
  12:08pm Tower:

Row that boat!
  12:09pm listener james from westwood:

i have like 2 months of downloaded archives in case my ISP was still f'ing with the stream, but there's nothing like getting the shows live and hearing that folks are ok via the chat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm charlie:

Howdy, Carmichael, Max, Doug, Tower!
Doug -- happy to hear your voice too! I know many were the other day when you were the only voice in town -- town being WFMU's stream!
  12:16pm Doug S.:

It was just like being the voice of God, except the omniscience and omnipotence thing.
  12:18pm listener james from westwood:

the benefits of having a distributed network of DJs! hope everyone on the east coast gtdr lineup is safe.
  12:18pm Katya:

Cheers to Give the Drummer Radio!! Yup, Carmichael. We've talked desert before. Tucson is gearing up for it's All Souls Procession right now. Such an excellent event! http://www.allsoulsprocession.org/
  12:24pm Doug S.:

How are you and loved ones, Listener James? Does Westwood have power?
  12:33pm Tower:

Been trying to figure out what 45 is in the picture. It looks like the Lettermen but I can't see enough of the catalog number or the title to figure out what it is.
  12:35pm ndbob:

great one here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm charlie:

Yeah Bob! Isn't this amazing!
  12:37pm Katya:

Yeah! I'd flip if I dropped the needle on that one!
  12:38pm Tower:

Always liked this B side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm charlie:

Yah, one of the great B-sides!
  12:41pm listener james from westwood:

@Doug: I'm well, thanks!Never lost power in my part of Westwood, and my parents 1 town over only lost it from Mon thru early Wed. am—a big plus, as they have medical gear that needs power. Neither my apt. nor their house took water or tree damage. We were all very lucky, as several areas of Bergen Cty. are flooded (Moonachie; good gods!), lack power, or were damaged by wind and trees.
  12:42pm Michael:

Love the set charlie!
  12:43pm listener james from westwood:

there's a gas station at the end of my street that is absolutely mobbed; many local stations have no power to pump, so folks w/ cars & gas cans for generators are mobbing this one. cops are deployed to prevent a traffic jam & illegal turns onto the 1-way street on one side of the station.
  12:44pm Katya:

You landed a Nutty Squirrels 7"? Neato!
  12:46pm Michael:

James - my brother spent 2 hours trying to find a station and fill up a couple of cans for a generator yesterday. He's in Monmouth County.
  12:46pm Michael:

Part 2 I presume!
  12:46pm Brian in UK:

Hello Charlie & folks. Looks like the pledge totals are being increased to compensate in some small degree for the loss of the Record Fair & damage at base.
  12:47pm Doug S.:

Glad you're safe and sound, James.

GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO PROGRAMMING ALERT...
It looks like tomorrow morning's Give the Drummer Some show will be streaming on WFMU proper along with the Drummer Stream. This gives you the rare opportunity to stream the show in two places simultaneously. One for each ear! Now back to our regularly scheduled Charlie!
  12:48pm Katya:

Utica Club!! Yes!
  12:51pm jan:

Hi Charlie- what did I miss? I forgot to tune in on my laptop, which is running thanks to a cable strung across the street to a construction site that has generators. I had 100 ft of wire
that I stored for 15 yrs and now it's come in handy. I can run media and a toaster oven, not at the same time. iphone still will not bring in the wfmu streams. I must leave soon.
  12:52pm Doug S.:

SILENT FUNDRAISER ALERT...
You will notice that Charlie's pledge goal has changed. WFMU Station Manager Ken Freedman is upping everyone's goal in order to solicit now desperately needed funds for the station.

CHARLIE: Ken asks that all DJs pitch on mic once per hour.
  12:59pm listener james from westwood:

Whoops; signal crapped out on my side. ISP acting up again. Might be in or out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Doug S.:

PLEDGE ALERT...PLEDGE ALERT...
Thanks to DANNY in Los Angeles and BRIAN in Watford UK (a very familiar name just now) for pledging!
  1:02pm Tower:

I understand the economics of the fund raising and the new need for higher pledge goals, but from a listener's standpoint, it would be better to clearly indicate that the goals were raised or that it was phase II or some other clever indicator.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm charlie:

Got it, Doug!
Thanks Danny and Brian!!!!!!!!
Jan -- never throw away wires )
  1:03pm Brian in UK:

$60 short of 75%
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Doug S.:

@Tower
There are no doubt better, smarter, clearer ways of handling this pivot in WFMU's fundraiser. Please know that everyone is doing the best they can under horrible circumstances. Now that WFMU's studios and office have power again, we've discovered a massive amount of electrical damage to the station's computers and other infrastructure. It is a rapidly changing situation. (We are still without power at both of our transmitter sites for 91.1 and 90.1FM. The station is reaching a much small audience via online streaming only.)

WFMU's silent fund drive is being extended to November 17. This is a crisis for WFMU on several fronts.
  1:11pm Katya:

To say nothing of the loss of investments in and potential income of the cancelled record fair
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Doug S.:

@Katya
Exactly. The site WFMU rented for the fair will allow the station to apply our payment to the next fair, but they won't return it. Meanwhile, the station has to refund all the record dealers. Since many of those dealers used PayPal to pay, WFMU is going to have to cover the cancellation penalty. All this on top of the fact that WFMU hadn't reached it's originally fundraising goal in the first place. The problems are compounding.
  1:16pm Tower:

Understandable. I think that if that information is passed along when you can, people will know the need, and give more. Great job with the explanation from Charlie!
  1:22pm Katya:

The silent fundraiser had only managed about 70% of this year's goal before the storm, right? Fingers crossed that Ken will get back in that lawnchair and be launched into the upper atmosphere -- or some other silly stunt!
  1:23pm Uncle Michael:

Just kicked in a little more...
  1:27pm other david:

Katya - I think it was closer to 50% pre storm- pledges seem to have been coming in pretty steadily since.

I'm really gutted to see WFMU have to face a crisis like this, hoping I can up my pledge next week.

Hoping that when the transmitters come up - more people will realise what's happening & pledge.

(Long term, I hope when the documentary is released it brings in thousands more listeners + pledgers.)
  1:29pm Matt from Springfield:

Chollie! You're on! How jolly!

"Tusk" single!
  1:31pm Matt from Springfield:

@OD: "Freeform or Death" was able to raise the extra 30k to get it ready in time for film festivals and such--maybe it will even get reviews printed up in national/international entertainment publications.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm charlie:

Hi Matt! good news re: "Freeform or Death"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Doug S.:

PLEDGE ALERT...PLEDGE ALERT...
Uncle Michael outta Topeka, Kansas, has dropped some more disaster relief. Thanks for the pledge Uncle M!!
  1:42pm Uncle Michael:

'Tis but a pittance but 'tis a pittance for something I'd hate to lose.
  1:42pm Hugo:

Yes, these are serious times. I have noticed that the station total target has not been revised upwards which may be necessary to compensate for the recfair shortfall.

Anyway, I contributed in a small way towards making Irwin's tail wag yesterday. That was a marvellous non-FCC show!
  1:43pm Michael:

what could possibly be gnawing at old mr. white shoes?
  1:44pm Uncle Michael:

Loose dentures.
  1:45pm Carmichael:

Just got out of contract negotiations. What a playlist! And all 7 inchers, so what an effort, Charlie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm charlie:

lol, Michael :)
and Thank you!
and you too, Hugo
  1:52pm Carmichael:

Charlie, you have any Scott Walker thereabouts? Seems like it would fit into the styles you're currently spinning.
  1:54pm Uncle Michael:

Oooh! Something off Scott 4, perhaps?
  1:57pm ndbob:

excellent show Charlie!
  1:57pm Uncle Michael:

Guess it's not likely he'd have the 7" single from that album...yes...excellent.
  1:58pm Hugo:

I have the two latest Scott Walker albums. Not exactly single material.
  1:58pm Carmichael:

Oh yeah, 7 inch. Never mind.
  2:00pm ndbob:

flip of "but you're mine" i think
  2:01pm Carmichael:

You're right Hugo, but The Old Man's Back Again is a wonderful brooding Morricone-themed song.
  2:02pm Uncle Michael:

That one is from Scott 4...my favorite Scott album.
  2:03pm Brian in UK:

@Carmichael I used to have 'Jackie' by Scott Engel.
  2:04pm Matt from Springfield:

I don't why, you say goodbye, they say "Hello"!

Thanks for giving us some semblance of normalcy with your usual show on Thursday!
Hope everyone up in Vermont is doing well. Hope all of you are doing well too!
  2:04pm Michael:

Hey charlie - thanks for bringing the fun!
  2:04pm Katya:

Fun as ever! Next time, gang!
  2:04pm Brian in UK:

Stirling work, Charlie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm charlie:

Thanks everyone for being here today! See you next time.
  2:05pm Uncle Michael:
