Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

As I put on Fabio's board, my mother's maiden name is my middle name, and I was born in WV.
  6:17pm
Matt from Springfield:

Southern names, like New England names or Victorian English names have no set conventions for everyone, but the first names in that "proper" pattern were usually: the father's father name for the first son, the mother's father name for the second, and the father's name again for the third. Subsequent sons used uncles or traditional family names. Daughters had a similar system for names.

sFrances from VA:

Waving hello, Clay!

As for names: My WV kin started way back using paternal grandmother name as first name and maternal grandmother as middle name. My first/middle name was passed that way from a long of line of S-Frances' (S being first initial of first name that I don't go by).

I thought Paul did a good job for a geezer. He's gotta be 70 by now. Great to see Nirvana on stage together again. The jam was not too bad either,

Clay, velvet is woven on a loom. Small wires are woven into the weft and then ripped out to make the luxurious piles that we all love so much.
  6:25pm

I couldn't even tell if Nirvana was playing an actual song or what
  6:26pm

Clay! Just got out of a boring meeting. Tuning the ears up ...

TommyT from Rivercity:

  6:31pm
Hugh:

god lives as evil dog....Baby Gramps..
  6:31pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi again, Kitty!
To be a god or ("dog") on drums, I'd say you'd have to be more in the Keith Moon/Bonzo territory. Or the Muppet Animal!!
  6:33pm
kat330:

Let's rebrand it as "gun safety."
  6:34pm
northguineahills:

2011 was my best year ever. 2012, the worst.
  6:34pm
Matt from Springfield:

I rate 2012: TOO DAMN LONG!
For whatever reason, the year just went on forEVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I remember the first Occupy episodes, that was more than a year ago and seems like longer ago.
  6:34pm
kat330:

In your country, Fredericks, should know how to hunt, skin and eat python, yes? :)
  6:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Good one! Or "gun responsibility".
  6:35pm
Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Ahem, I don't know of any OTHER way to make shoes, do you?? :)
  6:35pm
sFrances from VA:

Kudos to Fredericks for referencing the MOVE in Philly, I remember when that happened
  6:35pm
Marmalade Kitty:

The clash -White man in Hammersmith palais
  6:36pm
kat330:

2011 was the shits for me [administrator of my father's contested estate]. 2012 has been not bad, but not wonderful either.
  6:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

Unless Fredericks wants to move to the NY/NJ area, he could probably apply to one of the streams, and if he has a computer and webstreaming setup, might be able to.
  6:37pm
Listener Dave From Seattle:

Can you imagine if Fredericks was your father? That would be interesting.
  6:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

Have a nice holiday Fredericks!
  6:38pm
kat330:

Yay, Frances!
  6:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: I recognize that feeling -- the year before a bad year often seems so much better in retrospect.
  6:39pm
Matt from Springfield:

ACKLEY Iowa!
  6:39pm
Philo Gristle:

Bicentennial Man, methinks.
  6:40pm
Fredericks:

Okay, Matt!
  6:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Bicentennial Man" -- it was apparently a scifi adaptation or something, but was mismarketed and much overlooked. Haven't seen it myself.
  6:40pm
kat330:

I was living in Boston (Cambridge) at the bicentennial -- wonderful tall ships in the harbor and Boston Pops at the Shell.
  6:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

Fredericks :)
  6:40pm
William:

Long time dusty listener, first time live listener (world time!). Feels so real!
  6:41pm
kat330:

Welcome, William!
  6:42pm
Philo Gristle:

@Matt It was ok, don't bother. Think we picked it from the library. That was about the right cost.
  6:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great call Frances!

Welcome William, the fun never ends on the Dusty Show, or its comments!
  6:42pm
kata:

techno-backed xmas scatting !
  6:42pm
kat330:

Call, Matt! You should get that NVa / DC meetup done on a call.
  6:42pm
sFrances from VA:

Call in Matt! Kat! Phil in PDX! ;)

Great memory there, Matt! re: Ackley/husband
  6:43pm
Fredericks:

What's the best way to prepare python, Kat?

Like gator?
  6:44pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Philo: Right cost indeed then, thanks.
@kat: Still @work. Plus I'd need Greg from Herndon to be listening, I haven't seen him in a while. (I have an idea to exchange emails w/ Van tomorrow--he'll prob be on GTDS)
  6:44pm
kat330:

@Fredericks: YOU should know! Aren't they overrunning Florida? ;)

Luxurious pile, ha!

Frances AND Fredericks: GREAT calls and happiest of holidays to you, too!
  6:44pm

Fabio is cool like Dirk Bogarde
  6:44pm
Frenchy:

Happy Holler Days Clay.
  6:45pm
sFrances from VA:

Fredericks: I always enjoy hearing you on Sharpling's show as well~!

Hey MsKitty!

Thanks Kat & Matt
  6:45pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Frances: I remember it, on account of Clay never remembering it! :)
Even though you've mentioned it in calls and pledge notes!
  6:46pm
kat330:

As for calling in, I've heard Clay's interviews, and I'm too shy for that level of inquisition. ;)
  6:46pm
timb:

song was called "cut me some slack"
  6:47pm
kat330:

@Frances: Matt remembers it, because he frickin' remembers EVERYthing! He remembered Philo and I have a wedding anno in January! Amazing.
  6:48pm
sFrances from VA:

@Kat: ;)
I was nervous that Clay would ask about family stuff, but still took a chance, go for it, hon!
  6:48pm
Matt from Springfield:

@kat: That's why it's "the MAGIC of Clay"! Try it, his interviews do wonders!

As for remembering, I'm a volunteer historian/archivist wherever I go! :D
  6:48pm
amEdeo:

Home early, delighted to hear even a smidgen of the Pigeon live.
  6:49pm
sFrances from VA:

Matt is Always Remember(ing)
  6:50pm
Philo Gristle:

Greets, amEdeo! Smidgen of Pigeon, could be Clay's next premium...
  6:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

@Frances: If you want to hear "past glories", I am available on the Dusty Show, Jul 28 2011, and Radio Free Culture, Aug 27 2012 (the *only* caller on that one) :)
  6:50pm
kat330:

Good one, sFfVa! :)

Hello, Monsieur amEdeo!
  6:51pm
TommyT from Rivercity:

Clay - The best to you and yours this holiday season
  6:51pm
Matt from Springfield:

AR-cubed: Always Remembered, Always Remembering, Always Remember...

Although that would mean, in short, to absorb and retain everything all the time!
  6:51pm
sFrances from VA:

@Matt (grabbing pen) ;)

btw: Clay Sings the Classics was the BEST WFMU shwag, it's been in heavy rotation 'round my world.
  6:53pm
kat330:

@Matt/Frances: And you can hear me being brave calling in to 7SD twice (somewhere in the archives, don't have the dates handy).
  6:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

@kat: I think you alluded to the first "50 State Call-In"--but I'm not even sure if there's an Archive for that one.
  6:54pm
sFrances from VA:

Dusty/July 28 2011 I must've heard you since I've been listening since 2008 or 2009

@Kat: see, I'd be terrified to call into 7SD (as well as Best Show)
  6:55pm
kat330:

Yep, both the ones I called into are in the archives. I recall June 2004 I think -- maybe Feb. 2004 for the 50 states.
  6:55pm
amEdeo:

Bonsoir, bonsoir my friends. If I could speak French, I'd know for certain what that means. Actually, I'm fairly certain I know what it means, but this sentence is about to.
  6:56pm
William:

Is my super hybrid high speed cable Skype telephone really the worst a man like Clay has ever heard? Not much worse than those beat up microcassette recorders... ILL BE BACK!!
  6:56pm
seang:

this ain't me!
  6:56pm
kat330:

Well, 7SD had specific topics to which I knew I could speak. Just a general, open-ended chat with Clay on the air, I'm not up to that.
  6:57pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Good evening", amEdeo.
And, good evening, amEdeo!
  6:57pm
northguineahills:

Super happy fun time holiday daze, Clay!
  6:57pm
William:

Been hearing Clays Classics riding my bike in the cold today. Favourite: Against The Wind!
  6:57pm
kat330:

G'night amEdeo! Happy weekend and Christmas and everything jolly to follow!
  6:58pm
kat330:

And that wish to amEdeo goes out to *you all* most sincerely!

Thank you, Clay!
  6:59pm
sFrances from VA:

When you're smiling...(I can be a butthole too, believe you me)
  6:59pm
amEdeo:

I thought as much, thank you, Merci! Wait is that a goodbye, I meant it as a hello. Though I am probably going to go make dinner soon. A happy weekend/holidays/christmas to you too kat.
  6:59pm
sFrances from VA:

Happy Christmas and Always Remember!!! Everyone bless us all!
  7:00pm
amEdeo:

And wonderful wishes to everyone, and I WILL REMEMBER!
  7:00pm
Philo Gristle:

What kat said. G'night, owl! Happiest of Holidays!
