Sounds from the archive of the future, sonic drilling into the past, dissonant rumbling, lyrical melodies, noises (human, animal, mechanical, digital) inscrutable yet honest, desultory but consistent.

oh, another RIP, Dan Kaniess from long-running Mpls weirdo-rock group 2i. They never made it big, but opened for every punk band in Mpls in the 80s.

Something I wrote years and years ago about them:
http://www.citypages.com/2001-08-01/music/2i-of-the-beholder/
  5:23pm
Cecile:

yeah, exactly fred.

any, both jay and dan from the article are gone. Pity. Really, nice adventurous guys and interestingly enough, devout Christians.
  5:34pm
Cecile:

really nice Elliot Carter set, David.
  5:36pm
fred:

This is the most frustrating part of these shows: there are always people I first hear or hear about because they're dead
Call me selfish, but I wish I could have seen them live, and that's how what your words about 2i make me feel about them
  5:36pm
DJKG:

indeed
  5:41pm
Cecile:

aw, thanks fred.
their recordings never quite did them justice.
I believe Tony Coulter played one track of theirs a long time ago.
  5:48pm
fred:

Strangely enough, I think it's the first time I hear Harvey's music. I saw him often enough at work, and heard good things about him, but never went to a show. Then he wasn't around, and I guessed he was ill, and checking out his music then felt kinda wrong.
So I wasn't surprised by his death. Nunes' was more of a shock.
  5:52pm
Carmichael:

This is so mellow it makes my skin crawl.
  5:54pm
Marla:

I really enjoyed your show today. A terrific detour.
  5:55pm
Carmichael:

Ha Ha! Great show David. RIP Ed Cassidy.
  5:55pm

Many thanks for this show. Very nice.

Thanks David, that was a great show and I share your hope for a return sooner rather than later
  5:58pm
Cecile:

you too, david.
I have to say, I agree with you a little about that song, Carm.
  5:59pm
green mountain man mark:
