Percy Grainger...also a composer, his stuff was popularized in the late 1950s by the Eastman Rockchester Orchestra on Mercury.

Rochester, sorry.
  8:47pm karmester:

birchenau? birchenau was a nazi concentration camp... 'beer' 'cha' (in the back of the throat, not ch like church) 'now' is the pronounciation.
  8:50pm david:

Smart son, Mac. You've got a little audiophile on your hands :)
  7:52am Dave Swindon:

The American Country Dances sound much like Scottish Country Dances. Country dancing was popular at weddings and other celebrations and invoved dancing as a group rather than couples.
  10:01am Eric Dion:

It was the Zeigfield Follies - an annual review show on broadway that ran from like 1912 to 1935 or something like that. The follies may have been one of the most famous annual broadway/vaudeville shows ever. I've seen it mentioned in many books and reissue albums from the 60's and 70's
