11:00am : GMMMark: I don't have the patience to grow my hair long anymore, so I support you in this movement.6:49am : Long Wave, huh? That's the AM band with wavelength between 1000 and 2000 metres. In the UK that AM band was the almost exclusive province of French-language stations, which we at school in the extreme East of the country could pick up quite well in the early-mid 60s. And this was a very goodthing, because while in England the BBC was playing largely brass band music & Ibsen plays, Europe 1 had an after-school music show called "Salut Les Copains" which played, along with local stuff, US R & B which wasn't even released in England, let alone played on the radio. And every weekday evening "Pour ceux qui aiment le jazz". I'm not sure how well Jeff Lynne could have heard this stuff in Birmingham, though.
