Rain? The Beatles impersonation band? I saw them in the early '70s. Kind of silly, but very big at the time.

Loved that Billy Paul, but I feel like I need to ration out the stars, so no star, unfortunately.

slugluv1313:

best carrot cake i have EVER had is from Vegan Treats -- they are based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania BUT they provide über-scrumptious desserts to many NYC restaurants (may have expanded to other cities too?) -- and yeah, all the stuff is totally vegan -- who woulda think it?!?

@ kat330 -- you are so right!!! i did not think of that, but yes, will DEFINITELY keep the bullies away :)
Avatar 12:36pm
kat330:

Yeah, Caryn, I became a star-clicking whore the first days of all this. I'm trying to be more selective, but it doesn't seem fair given my early scattershot method.
Avatar 12:37pm
kat330:

@slugluv1313: Don't think they've arrived in Louisville yet. But carrot cake is indeed my favorite kind of cake. If I had a star to click on it, I would.
Avatar 12:37pm
Droll:

S1313, I'm skeptical but willing to try vegan carrot cake, but there's the delicious cream cheese topping issue on which I'm not very flexible.
Avatar 12:37pm
Cecile:

Wilde Roast in Mpls has a ridiculous carrot cake.
Great stuff, and enough for a light meal for two.
Avatar 12:38pm
Caryn:

@kat: yeah, I'm worried Duane's show will have me giving stars left and right, so I'm restraining myself. I'm also worried that my early considerate starring will in a few weeks give way to giving stars to anything any DJ plays. Darn, this is hard.
Avatar 12:40pm
kat330:

@sFrances: Sorry to hear of the work wanted situation. You have a solid network of FMUers in the DC area that might be of help.
Avatar 12:40pm
Caryn:

Only one place in the whole city sells carrot cake, and I can't afford it. Feel very jealous of people in the US right now.
Avatar 12:41pm

Avatar 12:43pm

Avatar 12:46pm
sFrances from VA:

@Droll: I'm an omnivore, but vegan desserts are usually awesome! The best bday cake I ever had was vegan.
@Caryn/Kat: I join you in the early adopter star whore posse
@Kat: re: job,Thanks! I grew up in the DC area and have nooooooo interest in returning there. I'm having a hard enough time being back in VA after almost 20 years on west coast (berkeley, portland) but husband wanted to move east so ugh, here I am.
@BSI: yes, job boards will be my destiny next week....I *will* miss being able to listen to so much WFMU when I'm working again...

Avatar 1:18pm

@slugluv: much luck to ya!
@kat: moving from/to?
@Caryn: so sorry to hear about the illness! there's feeling bad due to health, and then there's feeling worse due to tedium/isolation. At least you have the Friendship Society too!
@robyn/kat: thanks! i've got a crazy amount of stuff on Flickr too if you ever see anything you're interested in there, i've been slow in making prints for Etsy/not sure how much i dig it
Avatar 1:22pm

@Caryn: Fry-ed wit will indeed keep your own wits about you. Oh, btw, Philo and I just finally finished two DVD sets we've discussed in the past: The Prisoner (a few weeks ago) and Slings and Arrows (just on Monday). A bit disappointed in the former's ending (again), but pleasantly surprised by how S&A wrapped it up.

@sFrances: Oh, no destination yet, just wishin' and hopin' to leave this area, as we have ever since my parents passed.

Avatar 1:29pm
Caryn:

@sFrances: thanks. The FS certainly helps, being cooped up indoors all day.
@kat: Yeah, the "Prisoner" ending (well, the last 2 episodes) divide fans. I've always been fine with it, but that's because I tend to love weirdness. S&A ends nicely, too. Did your box set have all the seasons, or was it one seaon?
Avatar 1:31pm
kat330:

@Caryn: Yep, all of S&A and, man, was there ever a major booboo in the credits of one of the add-on specials. They showed an extended "King Lear" scene and said it was Sarah Polley as "Ophelia" fercimminy!

Avatar 2:43pm
Van in DC:

Oh, thanks Kat! :) And yes, I've got an Earl Grey hot tea in front of me already
Avatar 2:43pm

I've always found non-physical beers possess a je ne sais quoi pas -- a virtual lightness of flavor.

I have not decided yet my friend, I'm craving an IPA.

The Balearic Islands is where you'll find such holiday resorts such as Ibiza.
Avatar 2:46pm
pierre:

@ kat330 : they're good too, but afterwork calls for true liquids.

@Cheri Pi : lemme know, i love to discover knew ones ones that I don't know obviously, and i don't know much, but still loving these)
Avatar 2:46pm
Duane:

alright northguinea!! It's a good one. The short def of balearic Cecile, is that it's the Original sound of Ibiza Spain circa 78-81 and the balearic islands. most of the sound was at a 90-110 bpm sound..usually super airy and canyonesque. Soul II Soul is a great example of that
Avatar 2:47pm
kat330:

Mmm, Van, Earl Grey's a fave in the Philo-Kat household. I could spend hours just smelling it -- but then I'd not get to drink it.
Avatar 2:47pm
Cheri Pi:

I'll report on my beer drinking soon Pierre :)
Avatar 2:48pm

I'm not really an IPA guy, I like a few, but the whole US microbrew obsession about IPAs has turned out a lot of crap in my opinion.

If I want to drink for the sake of drinking, then I have no problem w/ crappy beers, but that's becoming an occurrence that happens less and less. (going to go out for some tasty beer this evening b/c of the msg board)..
