Happy (un)birthday, Joe, you crazy Capricorn! You really need to play Danny Pearson's "What's Your Sign", or Alex Chilton's cover thereof ;-)

And happy belates b-day, Joe!
Avatar 1:16am Joe McG:

Hey, Matt, how's tricks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am Andrew Waterloo:

@Matt I agree. Freedom is a hamburger
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am fleep:

And Liberty is a hot dog. And Justice is curly fries.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am Matt from Springfield:

Naturally, Andrew! :)
Tricks can be tricky, but mine are so tricked out it's awesome!
  1:18am KP:

Bye Cheri!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am Matt from Springfield:

Equality must be a milkshake then. For though some are thick and some thin, some lowfat and others full of it, and it comes in many flavors, it's all milkshake. You can't have "a little" milkshake drop over your head on you; you'd simply have "milkshake" on you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am Matt from Springfield:

Incidentally, that was some early Zevon!
Swag For Life Member 1:22am dknight23:

great set!
Avatar 1:22am Joe McG:

@Matt: Yep, first album, before he had a first name!
  1:24am Holly in NC:

While I ADORE the Groovies, I think DMZ's cover may be even better. Or not :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Andrew Waterloo:

...and some people are simply freedom intolerant
Avatar 1:25am Joe McG:

@Holly: I never played DMZ on the radio, Holly! I should!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Matt from Springfield:

And nice Tonetta! Kind of like "Leonard Cohen disco"...along with Douglas Hream Blunt a very specialized micro-genre can be created.
Avatar 1:25am Joe McG:

Thanks, dknight23! Having a good time.
  1:26am Holly in NC:

Tonette :-)
  1:26am lopez:

Whoa this Tonetta track is bizarre and super great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am Matt from Springfield:

Hiya Holly! Covers doin' their duty?
  1:28am Holly in NC:

TonettA. Lord I suck at this texting business. Perhaps I have an exceptionally pudgy middle finger.
Avatar 1:29am Joe McG:

@lopez: Just be careful of the videos. Yeesh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30am Matt from Springfield:

Heavy version!
  1:31am Holly in NC:

Pre zz top Beatles cover, how great!
@Matt, yes aside from fingers, nose & toes. 's ok, warming up in a couple of days
  1:32am lopez:

Thanks Joe McG; duly noted
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am Matt from Springfield:

And actual Repubs like Irwin wouldn't care for the folk style! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: And yes! "Hard Time, Good Time & End Time Music" is a fabulous title!
Avatar 1:36am Joe McG:

Hey, I think I just said "Gwen Guthrie"! I meant to say "Gwen McCrae"!
Avatar 1:36am Joe McG:

Don't tell George!
  1:37am Holly in NC:

If anyone *likes* Tonetta videos, check out Christeene. Start w African Mayonaisse, perhaps...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am Matt from Springfield:

Love Insurance! Soulful pre-disco!
Avatar 1:41am Joe McG:

Just so you all know, I don't endorse Tonetta's viewpoints in any respect!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am Matt from Springfield:

"The Clapping Song" sampled the rhyme about the rubber dolly!
Avatar 1:45am Joe McG:

Tonetta should cover that song. It's really disturbing, right up his alley!
Avatar 1:47am Holly in NC:

That's actually Bobby Bare - he wrote Rubber Dolly for Bill Parsons, but record co released Bobby's own demo under Parson's name *useless information*
Avatar 1:48am Joe McG:

Yay, Holly, I'm so glad you knew that! I was going to deliver the same very useless information on the mic break!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48am Matt from Springfield:

@Holly: I can't use that at this time--but interesting to know!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49am Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: And remember, pronounce the last band "Le Hoodoo Gooroos" - it just sounds more fun that way! :)
Avatar 1:50am Joe McG:

Thanks, Matt, I will definitely make sure to do that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Joe!
  1:52am Holly in NC:

I'm a huge Bobby Bare fan
  1:52am lopez:

Elephant's Memory was also a new one for me and totally amazing
Avatar 1:53am Joe McG:

@Holly: Last year I got lucky and got a bag of Bobby at a library sale! Including "Drunk and Crazy"!
Avatar 1:55am KP:

Sure and Begorah, Joe McGasko, St. Paddy's is just around the corner on 5th and 47th.
Avatar 1:56am Joe McG:

Ha ha, KP. Hope you find your nightingale there.
  1:56am Holly in NC:

@Joe - that is a serious score, congrats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58am Matt from Springfield:

Trans "Mr. Soul"! I like this one--interesting commentary on his fame, redoing that particular BS one, years later after Neil became very famous. And in such a futuristic style!
Avatar 1:58am b:

Very underrated phase of Neil Young's career.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58am Matt from Springfield:

Yes and Begorah, Mr. Penguin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am Matt from Springfield:

@b: Sometimes my SiriusXM display won't show the name of a song being played--don't know if that's an internal computer error or what. But one night, they played "Computer Age" from Trans without a title. I laughed, since I know exactly what it was, but those who don't are going to have NO f-in' clue!
Avatar 2:00am KP:

Top of the mornin to yea, Matt.
Joe, you will be on on the 17th. i'll tell you my Ronnie Drew story at that time.
  2:00am Holly in NC:

Most excellent Neil, have grown into Trans (oddly, 1st time I saw Neil was on Trans tour)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am Matt from Springfield:

Nice to know you're also in the select group of TransFans, b!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03am Matt from Springfield:

@Holly: It's a somewhat harder to find, but Neil's DVD "Berlin" is excellent. It's his show in [West] Berlin in '83, half-Trans half-Crazy Horse/classics! They wear sunglasses and vocoders, and Nils Lofgren and the late Bruce Palmer figure prominently!
Avatar 2:03am b:

Computer Age is a GREAT track. Fell in love with that album thanks to his HBO concert special featuring that phase, including classic tracks. I think you can get it on DVD as "Live in Berlin." And David Geffen always *was* a wack job; he was the REAL "You" of "You're So Vain."
Avatar 2:04am Joe B:

Hey Joe! I actually saw Neil do that version of Mr. Soul in 1983! great to hear the Hoodoo Gurus also!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am Matt from Springfield:

Yay Joe! :)

@b: Great minds! And yes, I highly rec that performance. And it wouldn't surprise me a grain of sand if Mr. terrible hair Geffen was so vain!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08am Matt from Springfield:

Awesome, Jim Price Television interview!
Glad you could be there, Joe Belock! Sounds great!
Avatar 2:10am Joe B:

the Neil show I saw was him doing the Trans stuff solo, unfortunately the band in the HBO show never toured teh US only Europe.

thanks for the plug Joe!
  2:11am Holly in NC:

b & Matt, I'll def look for that footage. Sounds a lot like the show I saw in New Haven.
Joe's many accents in this talkset are making me smile :-)
Avatar 2:12am Joe McG:

Hey, Joe B.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13am Matt from Springfield:

"Don't you remember? The US Festival!"
"The WHAT festival?"
"It was started by that guy from Apple Computers!"
"WHO computers?" :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am Matt from Springfield:

I always love "Town Called Malice"! Even though the music's an obvious lift of "Good Loving"! :)
Avatar 2:24am Joe McG:

@Matt: Yeah, it's a total Motown rip-off, but I like it, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38am Matt from Springfield:

Oh wow here we go!!!
Avatar 2:38am KP:

Finally, right behind you, Joe, i feel the music.
Avatar 2:40am KP:

Oh my.
Avatar 2:41am Joe McG:

Hey, KP, are you sure it's the music you're feeling?
Avatar 2:42am KP:

I see the glory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43am Matt from Springfield:

Epic! How I'd love to see a community theater do THAT, with that kind of passion!
Avatar 2:43am Brian in UK:

Hello Joe & folks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45am Matt from Springfield:

Welcome Brian! How's the weather where you are?

Jennifer! Another one by Jennifer Warnes, before she got a last name? ;)
Avatar 2:45am Joe McG:

Hey, Brian, what's up? Are you getting the heat?
Avatar 2:45am KP:

Hey, Brian.
This one is 1969! That's when Tommy came out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47am Newaveclub:

The right time of the night indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47am Matt from Springfield:

QUIRKY Who Sell Out cover! And there's a whole ALBUM of this?! Sweet!
Avatar 2:47am KP:

Good one NWC.
Avatar 2:50am Brian in UK:

It's pissing down with rain now the snow has gone.

I saw the Who two weeks before Woodstock over here at the National Jazz & Blues Festival. Complete run thru of Tommy. Stunning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am Matt from Springfield:

What is up with this Northern Hemisphere?! So cold and damp and dreary, the world over!
Avatar 2:53am Brian in UK:

Yes were on the same bill with John Surman, Chicken Shack.
Jon Anderson scat singing with Jon Hendricks can you imagine!
Avatar 2:53am KP:

I saw them in early in 68. They were still the Who Sell Out Who with perms and sequins. A few months later they completely remade image. Best show ever and ever amen by the way.
Avatar 2:55am Brian in UK:

The Who. Best live band ever. Discuss.
Swag For Life Member 2:55am 12539:

Nice final set, Joe. And not bad in between.
Avatar 2:56am KP:

No argument. No one's close Many times, best was first as mentiond.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56am Matt from Springfield:

Excellent Joe! Thanks again for the fine selections!
Have a great night/day, everyone!
Avatar 2:57am KP:

Thanks Joe.
Avatar 2:57am Joe McG:

Avatar 2:59am Brian in UK:

Take care everone.
Avatar 9:58am kat330:

Zevon's "Gorilla" really *does* sound like Beefheart -- thanks for unearthing this mollusk unfamiliar (to me) track, Joe!
