Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Matt from Springfield:

YLT provides a soothing "Ohm" to me! Without resistance!

Evening Therese!
Avatar 12:08am northguineahills:

Everything that Matt said. (I hate when he beats me to the punch).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: Science puns are all around, if you reach out for them! ;)
Avatar 12:12am BadGuyZero:

Hi Therese! I hope you had a fantastic birthday!
Avatar 12:14am northguineahills:

Does a lack or a surplus of Ohms (not to be confused w/ volts) prevent Om?

Too tired to come up w/ anything else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am Matt from Springfield:

I suppose too many Ohms (too much resistance) prevents an Om...
Hey NGH and BGZ!
Avatar 12:17am BadGuyZero:

A couple of nights ago I saw current Swans percussionist Thor Harris playing drums in a noise/math rock band that included a member of The Fleshlights.
Avatar 12:17am BadGuyZero:

Good evening, Matt! Hey NGH!
Avatar 12:19am Droll:

Hoorah Minut--- fIREHOSE!

MfS, Geometry, not science puns are all round.
Avatar 12:21am northguineahills:

Howdees, BGZ & Matt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am Matt from Springfield:

Hey Droll.
Well that's not fair, geometry is the shape of things! And after all, nothing can change the shape of things to come!! :)
Avatar 12:23am KP:

Hello, Therese.
Avatar 12:23am BadGuyZero:

Hiya KP!
Avatar 12:24am KP:

Matt, BGZ, all good evening.
Avatar 12:25am BadGuyZero:

Word on the street is that the new My Bloody Valentine record is being released on Wednesday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Matt from Springfield:

Good evenin' KP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am Therese:

Ooh! You all have avatars!
Avatar 12:29am Droll:

BGZ, Please tell me there's a really nicely packaged version on day 1.
Avatar 12:29am BadGuyZero:

Do we look like you expected us to?
Avatar 12:32am BadGuyZero:

@Droll: My understanding is that it'll be released digitally on Wednesday. Vinyl copies that also include a copy on CD are pressed and ready for sale. I don't know if physical sales will be at their upcoming shows only or if copies will be available via their soon to be re-launched website.
Avatar 12:32am northguineahills:

Oh crap, BGZ, that would be the shiiziit! About to make myself clean-cut for my interview tomorrow morning, then I'll be able to afford the LP MBV w/o my gf getting cross at me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am Matt from Springfield:

GoooOOO NGH! Best of luck to ya!
Avatar 12:35am amEdeo:

Avatars a plenty.
Avatar 12:36am BadGuyZero:

Get out there and *WOW!* 'em, NGH!

Hello amEdeo!
Avatar 12:37am Droll:

BGZ, LP+CD sounds like the way to go. I hope it has a 1,000,000 pages of liner notes!
Thanks for the tip, I put that on my to-do list for Wednesday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am Matt from Springfield:

Hashishin with capiscum. So spicy and cloudy you won't know WHAT'S going on!

Hi amEdeo! Yes, great avatars here!
Your blue lady is good, and I like Therese's premium cover "I Get Around"--it's her, but graphic-novelized!
Avatar 12:39am BadGuyZero:

Airbnb is great! I used it to get rooms for my recent visits to Denver and Chicago. I'm hooked!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39am Matt from Springfield:

I like an LP + digital tracks--since I upload new CDs into my computer right away, but like the physical media and liner notes. (The CD is really just my "backup").
Avatar 12:41am BadGuyZero:

Is calling oneself a "Masshole" kinda like how I call myself "a jackass of all trades"???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am Matt from Springfield:

Jimmy Fallon & Rachel Dratch's characters "Sully & ZaZU" I always referred to as "the Bahston Asshales"--that's a new one for me!
Avatar 12:42am BadGuyZero:

Did they have amphibious cars for rent?
Avatar 12:42am northguineahills:

Mourning the loss of my scotch bonnet plants (and the peppers)> I have one jalapeno bush still hanging on, but no new peppers in a month.
Avatar 12:43am Droll:

. o O ( AirBNB.... lost on website already.... More stuff for the calendar. )
Avatar 12:44am northguineahills:

Vieques is where the old Navy artillery/bombing range was located, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am Matt from Springfield:

@NGH: I've gotten into Jamaican cuisine since finally finding an authentic place relatively closeby. The Scotch bonnets are apparently what makes "jerk" stronger than mere curry sauce. How long before you can get another crop in?
Avatar 12:46am BadGuyZero:

St. Patrick a mongoose? Now you're just talking crazy talk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Matt from Springfield:

Vieques/Roosevelt Roads was the whole Navy complex--finally closed once local opponents applied enough political pressure. I don't know how much has been cleaned up and opened to tourism, but I imagine it's wonderful weather and scenery there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am Matt from Springfield:

"Insatiable Fatso, come over here! Here kitty!"
Avatar 12:48am BadGuyZero:

It's been in the mid-70s down here. Balmy at night. Not fun [the temps or the word "balmy"].
Avatar 12:48am northguineahills:

I froze the last few peppers, so, I can replant in the spring. Last spring /summer it took from late May (when planted) until late August when the first peppers ripened.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Matt from Springfield:

Sounds Eternal! Mysteries of the Shahi Baajaa! Love the names, goes with this tune perfectly!
Avatar 12:51am Droll:

MfS, There's probably nothing but a Superfund site left at the old Navy complex. Totally uninhabitable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am Therese:

I spent HOURS on that site- you can rent TREEHOUSES! And HOUSEBOATS!
Avatar 12:51am BadGuyZero:

Therese's profile photo makes Bill Murray sing in my mind: "Skull Wars. The theme from Skull Wars."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Matt from Springfield:

@Therese: And TREEBOATS?!
Sounds fun, glad you enjoyed ol' PR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Matt from Springfield:

"Skull - Wars! Those crazy Skull Wars!..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Therese:

I bought that record on the street for $1. The cover is, by far, the best thing about it.
Avatar 12:59am Green Mountain Man Mark:

I have awokenned up after falling asleep with wfmu on. last I remember is Gaylord or even maybe Monica. Nice to hear Therese. The moon is out tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am Matt from Springfield:

@Therese: I had a great experience a few weeks ago--leaving work in the dark, I drove home via a road that passes a massive oil terminal with storage tanks off of I-95, while XM played "Jungleland". Always an amazing listen, but with it being cold, dark, and driving by oil tanks, it felt so Jersey! I was thrilled! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am Matt from Springfield:

Hello Mark.
$1 sounds about right for making a cool avatar!
Avatar 1:00am BadGuyZero:

Was it at the Iris Records booth at the Grove Street PATH station?

That cover looks like it should be on a Mercyful Fate record, not some pub rock combo's.
Avatar 1:01am Droll:

[Recently back from round-the-world trip on AriBnB ]
Curse you and your vicarious travel tips!

W220DQ New City! Just like WXHD, but without the music, talk, and dead air!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Therese:

MfS- I love those nighttime driving moments!!

BGZ- No, from some random guy on the Hoyt Street in Brooklyn.
Avatar 1:05am fred von helsing:

"jackass of all trades" now that is a handy phrase! Maybe overprint it on yer business card with invisible ink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Matt from Springfield:

@Droll: WMFU, as WXHD is now known.
Avatar 1:06am BadGuyZero:

@Droll: The hosts of both places I stayed pretty much let me have run of the house. I was able to make my own meals instead of eating out every meal. That meant more money for buying records! And for $35-$42 both places were steals. Nice perk is that you can generally find a place in an area/neighborhood you'd like to explore. When i was in Chicago I only used public transit twice: from the airport and to the Amtrak station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Matt from Springfield:

Fred von H, Willkommen!
Maybe publish a short description of what you do, and have slightly different colored ink for letters in between, spelling out "jackass of all trades".
Avatar 1:09am Droll:

BGZ, I couldn't help but notice a few offers are disproportionate to others in the same locale. Are these naive/new sellers, or scams?
Avatar 1:09am fred von helsing:

"Services rendered. Copious jackassery at no additional charge."
Avatar 1:15am Droll:

[ back to touring Earth on a budget ]
This soooo beats Hilton Garden Inn, but sadly these are not legit hotels in the sense I can write them off as a business travel expense like the Hilton.
Avatar 1:16am KP:

Where was I?
Avatar 1:17am BadGuyZero:

@BGZ: I think it's people who aren't that into having strangers come stay with them. Sort of like "if someone wants to pay $XXX a night I'll let them sleep in the spare bedroom."

Look for the hosts that have the most reviews. Those are generally the best deals and most accommodating hosts. Lots of photos and a guide to nearby restaurants/shops/points of interest is a good indicator too.
Avatar 1:18am BadGuyZero:

BLERG! I meant "@Droll." Why the hell am I talking to myself?
Avatar 1:19am BadGuyZero:

@Therese: Have you seen the cinematic version of "Les Miserables" that's currently playing in movie theaters?
Avatar 1:21am KP:

Therese, that avatar compels me to tell you my wife to this day calls you the "TV Lady." That goes back to the first Radio Vision day, when you were the moderator. She was sure it was on TV somewhere, which i guess was sort of correct.
Avatar 1:23am BadGuyZero:

@Droll: Check out getaroom.com for sweet deals on hotel rooms. I've often found rooms on there for prices 20+% lower than hotels.com.
Avatar 1:27am BadGuyZero:

Operation Winecrime. *ugh*

There's a lady in Seattle who will make a quilt out of your old concert shirts. She also makes other cool metal-themed quilts. Her business is called Quiltsryche.
Avatar 1:27am Droll:

Droll, As if we never speak of ourselves in the third people... We wouldn't even notice if I didn't point it out.

I noticed "Avatars" increased commenting for no apparent reason. Except now I can send MfS email asking where he went.

Heh, Geoff Tate has a wine! So does the singer guy from Tool.
  1:28am Lopez:

Sole no-avatar post represent
Avatar 1:31am KP:

i also noticed more peeps on the boards. Maybe that's that wha you meant. They're on and they're active.
Avatar 1:32am listener mark:

Good morning, Therese.
Avatar 1:32am BadGuyZero:

I think I've been as chatty as I was in the pre-avatar days.
Avatar 1:36am KP:

BGZ, i wouldnt go that far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am Matt from Springfield:

Very Kinksy song!
Avatar 1:36am fred von helsing:

My avatar reflects my relationship to NYC :)
Avatar 1:37am fred von helsing:

@MvS VERY Kinksesque song !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am Matt from Springfield:

"Escape from New York, via WFMU"

@FvH: Now I want to find out more about The Leopards!
Avatar 1:40am BadGuyZero:

My avatar is me circa four weeks old.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Tejas born and bred?
Avatar 1:46am BadGuyZero:

@Matt: Born in Denton, TX. Have lived in North Texas my entire life except the few years I lived in Seattle in the 90s. I would love for 2013 to be the last year I live in this state. Get me outta this idiocracy! Maybe I should launch a Kickstarter campaign to that end.

Kickstarter is, after all, the Make-A-Wish Foundation for adults who do not have terminal illnesses.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am Matt from Springfield:

Make a documentary about "Leaving North Texas"--the success of the project is dependent on whether you can first leave North Texas.
Avatar 1:49am BadGuyZero:

What a coin-ki-dink. I saw this Jawbreaker-related image shortly before the show started: tinyurl.com...
Avatar 1:50am Droll:

BGZ, I live in Seattle, if you make it back this way let me know! Remember, summer here is equivalent to your winter, Seattle is north of Montreal and Toronto.
Avatar 1:50am BadGuyZero:

@Matt: You get a "created by" credit if it happens. Therese gets points since the project was born on her comments board.
Avatar 1:50am fred von helsing:

@MvS Leopards? Who what where ???
Avatar 1:51am fred von helsing:

@BGZ I had a school chum from Waco TX (yes THAT Waco). Same neighborhood? Same lunacy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Matt from Springfield:

Nice! Thanks BGZ.
@FVH: Buy their albums, it'll keep them off your tail!

"Ride On Baby"!! This is a '67 Rolling Stones cover, I actually know and like this song! GREAT taste from Janet St. Clair & the Real Kids to choose to cover this catalogue Stones track!
Avatar 1:54am BadGuyZero:

@Droll: I loved living in Seattle. i haven't made it back since I moved. I'm long overdue for a return visit. I have several dear friends that still live there.

@FVH: There's only one Waco [which I call Wacko]. FACT: I play John Zorn's cover of the main theme from "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" whenever I drive through Waco.
Avatar 1:54am KP:

Oh man, BGZ. now you got me thinking i have to steal grumpy cat for my own sinister purposes.
Avatar 1:58am BadGuyZero:

@KP: The Snowball II version of that Jawbreaker cover is pretty sweet too: 24.media.tumblr.com...
Avatar 1:59am BadGuyZero:

Oooh...I didn't know that the revamped comments board shortened links. Yay! No more having to utilize tiny.url!
Avatar 2:00am fred von helsing:

@BGZ Chatboard:TNG is a wonderland of minor technological marvels!
Avatar 2:01am KP:

It facilitates the links yet still theroretically nixes them.
  2:01am HAL9000 Playlisterizer:

You're welcome.

WFMU East Orange, WMFU Mount Hope, W220DQ New City!
. o O ( and where I hear it: WFMU.ORG )
Avatar 2:03am KP:

BGZ, you should try to move to Jersey City. Ive been working there since Sandy and have gotten to really like it. This wil be out las week there. I wont miss the extra commute and and the shuttle buses but it's groovy, man.
Avatar 2:07am BadGuyZero:

@KP: I plan on investigating the rental market when I'm up there in March. Right now Cleveland, Denver and Oklahoma City are the places I'm most likely to end up in.
Avatar 2:08am fred von helsing:

How do rents in the Jersey City / Fort Lee axis compare to NYC proper ?
Avatar 2:08am amEdeo:

Avatar 2:09am BadGuyZero:

@amEdeo: If I move to Oklahoma I'm going to put a tire swing in my living room.
Avatar 2:10am KP:

wouldnt the living room come with a tire swing?
Avatar 2:11am Droll:

BGZ, NY/NJ in March? When's the '13 'thon? I was hoping to trek to Mecca for the 'thon '13 -- maybe we meet after all?
Oklahoma's okay, if you like corn as high as an elephant's eye, I guess.
  2:12am Rob:

always enjoy this music you speak over Therese, and your show!
Avatar 2:12am KP:

Droll, the next thon wont be unti lthe fall. they just did a makeup of last year's/
Avatar 2:13am KP:

BGZ have you scoped out what is going on at that time. Ironically i might be in Texas.
Avatar 2:14am Droll:

KP, Marathon w/phone duty and Hoof-n-Mouth finale. You're thinking of record fair, another worthy $43/night AirBnB event.
Avatar 2:16am KP:

Oh, yes pardon me.
Avatar 2:16am BadGuyZero:

@Droll @KP: I'm coming up to volunteer during week two of the marathon.
Avatar 2:16am KP:

never thought of the marathon as being an event as such but that is very cool.
Avatar 2:18am amEdeo:

Avatar 2:19am fred von helsing:

Vinyl garb is optional but encouraged ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21am Therese:

FVH- Breathable fabrics! It gets rather warm in the phone room.
Avatar 2:28am Droll:

It's the WFMU phone room, so deep breathing fabrics are even better. The 1st question on the WFMU pledge form is "What are you wearing?"
Avatar 2:31am BadGuyZero:

I've inquired about renting the getup that Arnold Schwarzenegger wore in "Batman & Robin."
Avatar 2:31am amEdeo:

I am actually in the process of coordinating the construction of a special dress for the marathon. And by "in the process" I mean I had a silly idea and wrote to someone about it in a letter. We'll see...
Avatar 2:41am fred von helsing:

well now this song is something completely different
Avatar 2:47am Droll:

Daryl Hall is a god.
Avatar 2:51am BadGuyZero:

It's the song from "(500) Days Of Summer."
