"I connected with Thomas by telephone in April 2012. He began the conversations with a plea for help, saying he was living with a demon inside him, a second personality he called “Erwin.” He wanted to learn how to control Erwin, how to stop the badness.

Erwin, he said, was the rapist. Aaron, he said, was a good person, a family man, someone who helped the elderly and had love for everyone.

“Erwin would show up, and things would happen in the middle of the night,” Thomas said. “He only comes around when I’m lonely.”"

@rrg: Because it's merely a repeater, the letters are something like W2XWP or something like that. I don't think we're required to announce those repeaters of other stations in FCC rules, but FMU probably does that to acknowledge our audience in Rockland County.

@RRN63: All those terms are probably popularized as the result of micro-marketing. "Americana", like you said, is probably aimed at those outside the social/political core of modern country, playing a kind of country/folk rock that is acceptable for AAA station play, yet not really staying in any one genre.

RevolutionRabbitNov63:

...I think the 'Post-Modern Question' definitely is relevant in terms of what is 'Folk' (Barbara Allen? Dylan?) 'Classical' (Stockhausen? Eleanor Rigby?) or 'Pop' (Teenage Fanclub? Justin Beiber?) anymore anyhow...
- We forget that Mozart was a syphilitic improvising party-animal in his own time...

- yeah, Cage: It's about Context.

...Ferinstance: It ticks me off that people still believe Rockfans are dumb & ill-informed in face of all the evidence...We are in fact the Gnostics (the Knowers) - !...

@RRN63: In the modern age of much information, ability to record it and commercial release music, kids' playground rhymes repeated are the clearest example of folk or traditional music; no author, taught person to person with potential for modification, and well established as a performance song by the time it's recorded.

Now a "folk singer" can compose their own songs in a "folk" style, but ultimately that style was derived from that series of "traditional" songs. The next question would be: how long does it take to accept a style of music as a "folk" one?
