Live performance and chat with Robyn Hitchcock

Irene, self-photographing with Robyn

On the eve of a brand new album, a tour and a significant birthday, Robyn Hitchcock was dropping by some of his favorite radio stations to perform some solo sessions. Mr. Hitchcock is no stranger to Irene's show, having been on twice before, and said he felt it was important that WFMU not be left out. In advance of the new album, Robyn was ensconced in WFMU's Love Room to play songs from his newest disc, "Love from London," to be released in March 5th, 2013.

Hello all, The FMU Grim Reaper... Multiple songs by an artist! I very much wish that i focused more on Mr. Ayers when he was still with us. Like the Rev, I did enjoy early Soft Machine in the day.

Kevin Ayers is one of the musicians that had a big influence on my Early WFMU listening. Very sad that he's gone. In my tape collection I have a concert I recorded in 1993 at Maxwell's in Hoboken that I had permission to air. It was pre-archives. When I find the DAT (only the cassette has surfaced) I'll make the archive available online.

I recently bought Invisible Hitchcock on vinyl, still need to listen to that. Apparently it's out-takes and B-sides from 1981–1985, so should be interesting.

There weren't many of his LPs available, so I bought it partially based on the great US release cover art! ;)

The root problem with the music business today is the "customers" won't pay for music. The problem is social, not a business or technical.
Attention is not a substitute for being paid, and it makes no sense to master songwriting and performance so you can earn a living selling apparel and stickers.
