Mike V L is correct - we seamlessly went from "house" to "mouse" after the House Of Today funds were used to buy the building in Jersey City.

@DCE: Mouse, as in... you know those computer pointing devices.
So... Mouse of Today for the pledges earmarked for keeping the digital infrastructure running and getting better.

But there's also a reference to some history in there. Years ago, there was the "House of Tomorrow" pledge drive to help buy the building the station's now in. So... well, you see.

Danne D:

Once upon a time, WFMU lived on the ghost campus of the extinct Upsala College. Even though WFMU dutifully paid its bills, there were little things like the water getting turned off and other things that living on a ghost campus would make happen.

Ken had a vision of WFMU having a new location - one that ultimately was selected at 43 Monty in Jersey City. This was called the "House of Tomorrow" and to fund the project the $1/day pledge level was dedicated to this fund.

Evenutally the House of Tomorrow became, well, the House of Today. Around this time, the internets were exploding bigger and bigger. WFMU was one of the first stations to offer web-stream (heck maybe the first) - all of it free and if you poke around the archives you'll see just how far back the archives go. This costs bandwidth and $. Lots and lots of $. And to offset that cost (and to continue to bring WFMU to its now global audience) the House of Tomorrow pledge level morphed into the Mouse of Today pledge level. So there you go :)
