Clay, Association's Greatest hits was my first rock LP (I had started with a few comedy albums). "Enter the Young" was my favorite song from the album. God, my copy probably sounds like the surface of the moon these days.

@Clay: Sound FX LP! "Library" tracks, those were used quite commonly! Donovan's "Song of the Naturalist's Wife" began with a baby's cry, a very guttural one like the one you played. So probably true!

In fact, the train crossing at the end of the Pet Sounds album came from an FX record from '58, which was probably a stereo novelty at the time (train crosses from one speaker to another).

Nate:

Is it ok to add some fellow DJs on Piggeonnaires? I could mention something on the Ichiban group page?

Matt from Springfield:

@Frances: It's certainly a lot of expensive infrastructure that only really benefits drivers. That's the reason why the Sirius/XM merger was allowed by the antitrust lawyers - it's already a limited market.

Ah yes! Thanks @Steve! Fat fingers. . .

Hi Marmalade Kitty! Nice 2cu.

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Clay, with these recorded shows you occupy the odd role of audience member to your own show. It makes me picture a hypothetical Bugs Bunny cartoon with him sitting in the front row of his own play.

Matt from Springfield:

OMFG YES!!! Leonard Nimoy's album!! :D

Hey, I bought this for a boyfriend of mine years ago!

Pigeonaires isn't a disease recognized by the AMA, yet?

Matt from Springfield:

@Caryn: A partner who would like that is a good partner for a WFMU-er to have!

When I hear a song Leonard's sung, usually "If I Were A Carpenter", "If I Had A Hammer" or "Abraham Martin and John", I like to say: "This is a good song. But I like the original by Leonard Nimoy better." :)

@Matt: just sent you an email, vivanow is me.

Other shows for Clay fans: I really love Benjamin Walker's Too Much Information, if you're looking for a non-music show.

Post something fun! I don't want to be a "Post Hog" as the kids say. It's a thrill. Don't be shy.

I am way into Zebra right now (see CC5). They are on the Yes "Cruise to the Edge" ocean cruise with UK and lots of other prog bands. It's in April. I want to go so bad.

Matt from Springfield:

@MK: Sorry to hear that! Is there any sauce you can put on it?

In fact, I was shredding leftover chicken during the Fabio/Clay crossover, but I've been letting it soak in korma sauce before heating it after the show.

I think Seven Second Delay is my closest other favorite to the Dusty Show. Different, but equally good-natured and extemporaneous.

i love SSD, but it took a while to get used to Andy's abrasive anti-humor... whereas i was into Clay the first moment i heard him (i remember it weirdly clearly, spring 2006)

Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The 7SD shows used to fail more spectacularly than they do now, and Andy's attitude was appropriate as both cause and effect. He seems a little impotent when the shows go well these days. But no fear, failure is always around the corner.

Great show Clay! Goodnight folks
